asr
I was planning on going to Six Flags New England tommorow for opening day, but I have two questions. One, what should I suspect for crowds on opening day, and two, its going to be chilly (High 54, Low 37), will this be warm enough for Superman and Batman to operate? Android
I highly doubt the coasters will be operating. They are talking about rescheduling the Boston Marathon, because of the weather we are supposed to have this weekend.
ECZenith
I would just give it some time until the weather gets warmer. Not worth the risk if the coasters aren't running.
niiicolaaah
Why don't you call the park, and ask about their policy on opening rides in the cold? Some parks will only open coasters if it gets above a certain temperature, and each park is different. I went to SFGAd and Hersheypark two days in a row, and it was in the mid-30s both days. Kingda Ka and GAd's B&Ms were open, but Storm Runner and Great Bear were closed.
Canobie Fan
I have NEVER been to SFNE when they have closed coasters just because its cold. And I have rode SROS in the SLC when its snowing out! Also rode Cyclone that day before it started to snow... Just because its cld they wont shut the rides down. Â Also opener seems to be hit or miss. I have been when its DEAD and I have been when SROS has had a 2 hour line.... So no way to judge
coastermaniac123
Since there wasn't a major ride or coaster debuted this year I would expect it not to be crowded. The rides will be operating in the 50's. It really isn't that cold. As Canobie Fan said, it can be crowded beyond belief, like the year Mr. Six opened or it can be calm and empty like last year. I would have expected it to be more crowded last year, but the weather turned people off. Â According to NOAA it will be... Saturday: Partly cloudy, with a high near 54. North wind between 9 and 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Â Saturday Night: A slight chance of rain and snow showers after 3am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 33. North wind between 6 and 9 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Â But it is very random. I will be there for a while tommorow with my friend. Don't listen to people about the weather being bad, right now it looks to be great.
burningstroller
What do you think the chances are of SFNE opening tomorrow (4/15) during this winter storm we're getting? Its going to be raining/snowing and like 39 degrees? I was all psyched to go! ...and will do so if they are open.
Android
i agree with niiicolaaah. But i really don't think it would be open with the weather. Parts of Mass are already making plans incase of a Weather Related emergency.
