gax Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Hey, I live in the UK (next to flamingoland ), and I'm planning a trip to America soon for all the parks, (including Florida etc.) and I'm just wondering when the holidays are in America (Florida especially) so I can work out when the least busy days will be , are they the same as the UK, and do they differ by state? I was thinking April time possibly... Thanks!
Homer Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 A basic overview of America's holidays. WINTER Martin Luther King Jr. Day- Third Monday in January. Presidents Day- Monday in between Lincoln's and Washington's birthday (~3rd week of Feb.) SPRING Spring Break- Not really a holiday, but schools often have a week (or weeks) off for students around March/April. Can be a bit iffy here. SUMMER Memorial Day is the last Monday in May [considered the kickoff of Summer]. Independence Day on July 4th. FALL Columbus Day- First Monday in October. The celebration of this holiday is dying out thanks to political correctness, so don't worry about crowds around this date. Thanksgiving- Last Thursday in November. Parks tend to get crowded and this is the start of the holiday season.
BarryH Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Columbus Day isn't celebrated in Florida. Unless you work for a bank, a city facility (like garbage collection), or a government facility (like the U.S. Post Office), you don't get the day off. I don't think I ever got the day off in college.
larrygator Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Labor Day - first Monday in September - the last weekday operating day for practically all parks outside of California and Florida. Some parks with Halloween events are open on weekends through October.
alanjonesbath Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 We've always gone to the US in the first two weeks of June, both to LA and Florida (and this year to D.C/New York area). Florida always seems quite quiet at that time fo year. In LA, there seemed to be a lot of school groups at SFMM the day we went, though Disneyland was relatively quiet.
