Spookbaby Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 I wasn't really all that scared of coasters as a kid. All I know is that I became hopelessly addicted to coasters somewhere in between my first ride on the "American Eagle" at Six Flags Great America and now. Although, I must admit that to this day there are still some rides that scare me to death before I ride them. It took me about 3 times to ride "Good Mummy" at Universal Studios Orlando with my eyes open. But after I did I loved it so much I think I rode it like 7 more times. I am going to Cedar Point in 3 days to ride Top Thrill Dragster for my first time and I'm nervous just thinking about it! Oh well, being scared it half the fun!
nev Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 When I was 6 my dad put me on a roller coaster telling me it was going to be like a little train. Needless to say it was a rather harrowing experience riding a woodie, so I got scared. I didn't go on any coasters again till I was about 15 or 16, when I was at Wonderland in Sydney, and I plucked up the courage to just get in the queue for the Demon (Vekoma boomerang) with some mates I was there with. When the gates opened, I freaked out and headed for the exit, where upon my friends pointed me out to two ride attendants, who promptly manhandled me into the carriage and closed the harness on me! From there on, the love began... but like any love, the first time hurts (even more than necessary on a Vekoma!)
bgwfreak Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 I was terrified of coasters as a kid. Weird thing is that I got really upset that I couldn't go on the Great Gasp at SFOG when I was like 5 or 6. I guess it wasn't height that scared me about them. lol Mindbender at SFOG was what I credit as getting me hooked on coasters. After that trip I really started to love them.
timetrial3141592 Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 Never. Although my first hyper (SROS at SFNE) caused me to think, "Why isn't this drop ending?" I've never been scared of coasters. However, S&S drop towers scare the crap out of me...
