coasterdude5 Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 My family and I are going to Orlando again this year and instead of Universal we'll be going to BGA. My parents are a litte uh, "skeptical" about making the drive to Tampa, does anybody have any advice? I saw an ad for a shuttle from Seaworld and a few other locations, would that be better than losing our parking spot at the hotel? I've heard the drive isn't too bad. Thanks for any help.
Twister II Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 If your getting a Hertz rental, there is a GPS guy in there, already with Busch Gardens programed in. The drive is about an hour or so. Traffic wasn't bad for us. When you are going the the park, you go threw quite the sketchy part of town, very run down, just not very nice looking. Then BOOM! There's a theme park. You'll have fun.
SharkTums Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 The drive is super easy. Yes there is a shuttle that runs from Sea World to Busch, but I would rather have a car. I-4 West to I-75 North, Exit Fowler Ave! From the Disney area it should take about 1 hour 15 minutes door to door. From Universal 1.5 hours.

SharkTums Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 ^Yeah, and don't worry about what Twister said...sounds like he went some messed up 'GPS' way off of I-4. Go my way, it's much better and the way that Busch Gardens also recommends.
Rocker_Dude Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 MAN I LOVE LIVING SMACK DAB IN THE MIDDLE OF ALL THE FLORIDA PARKS LOL
coasterdude5 Posted February 17, 2007 Author Posted February 17, 2007 ^^ Since we already have a car we won't have to deal with any rental people so that will hopefully help.
BarryH Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 If you happen to miss the I-75 exit on I-4 (I don't know how since it is clearly marked), you can take I-4 to I-275, head north on I-275, and take the BGA exit. Sometimes during rush hour, the intersection of I-4 and I-75 can get backed up.
Homer Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 All I can say is, avoid I-4 during rush hour at ANY area between Tampa and Orlando. Construction is STILL going on there and some traffic jams can make a 1/2 hour drive into 2+ hours. However, as stated above, its easy to get to BGT. From Orlando, take I-4 to the I-75 exit, head NORTH on 75, then the next exit [Fowler Ave.], take that exit and bear to the left (the road forks there on that exit). Get to the left lane on Fowler Ave and a few miles down the road should be signs for BGT. Once you see McKinely Blvd., turn left and BGT should be down the street. Those directions simple enough?
BarryH Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 One more thing...on I-4, just west of the I-75 intersection, you may see an exit for BGA that will take you on US 301. Don't take 301 to BGA. It's not a shortcut, but a longcut! Believe me, I took it once and it took me 45 minutes to get to BGE! Stick with the I-75 exit or, if you must, I-275.
