Okay, I have never been to Universals Version of Mardi Gras. I am taking a few friends up there and was looking for some tips on how to go about it, and what is the best part to see. Any help would be great.

Mardi Gras at Universal is a fun little event. I'm never really into any of the bands that are playing, but I know a lot of people really enjoy the concerts. They normally have a section of the New York area of the park dedicated to Cajun food and booze. The parade itself isn't the best Universal puts on, but I always liked getting the beads. I hope that helped a little, I can answer some more questions if you need me to.

1.) Stand somewhere near the boneyard (production central) area.

2.) Watch parade.

3.) As the last float passes, run towards concert stage for a half-decent spot.

That's really all there is to it.

Thanks for the help JT3000!! I was looking for someone that might be able to tell me the best night to go, the best way to get the lowest prices, and other things to do at the park during this time. I am taking a somewhat large group as well. Are the rides still open at night? Is it just one parade each night? Or like other parks, do they come by like once an hour? Thanks for the tip on the concert stage..

Try not to stand at the end of the parade route. Sometimes, the bead throwers on the floats will run out of beads. The riders are only allowed a certain number of beads and when they run out, you don't get anymore. Some overzealots bead throwers throw out too many beads and run out mid-parade.

The best place to stand (if you can get it) is in the San Francisco area by the water (around Lombard's Landing). Right across the way is a small elevated area. If you can snag that area, you are in a good position to get a lot of beads.

The Mardi Gras parade only runs on Saturdays during Mardi Gras. The ride queues close at the park closing time and then the parade runs. If you're in the queue before closing, you still get to ride. During the day, you might see a mini-Mardi Gras parade with the Blues Brothers car, the Mystery Machine, the Toon Trolley, and some of the smaller vehicles you see around Universal.
