Tanks4me05 Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 Well, I'm currently making a new wooden coaster called Grullin. I just finished the pre lift section, and the pacing is rapid - exactly as I hoped. Well, here is a screenshot. The first drop really isn't shaped that way, it's just the view at how I took the screenshot.
NitroRider Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 That looks good, I'd like to see some more though.
Tanks4me05 Posted November 25, 2006 Author Posted November 25, 2006 Well, I made some progress, but I'm only going to post two teaser pics. Here is a speed hill. It's only 30 feet high, and you go through it at 55 miles per hour. On the first drop you see here, first you drop about 130 feet, level off, and then drop down another 40 feet or so, resulting in a nice twisting double down with a huge amount of G's - lateral and airtime. (They are still within reason)
Guest Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 GCI rides in NL (assuming you're using the PTC train) are notorious for wheel hits. Before you're too far to fix it, you should be checking for those (or you may have already, in which case ignore me). Overall the ride looks ok. A bit big in terms of elements (drawn out) but an interesting layout. Are you planning on doing any custom supports for this ride? Good luck, I hope it comes out nicely.
Tanks4me05 Posted November 26, 2006 Author Posted November 26, 2006 ^It's a little less compact than I had in my head, but I had to make one of the helix things that you can't really see a lot wider because there was a pretty darn bad track collision. At least the pacing is maintained quite well for pretty much the entire ride, which was my main goal for Grullin.
Tanks4me05 Posted January 6, 2007 Author Posted January 6, 2007 I apologize for the double post, but Grullin is finished! Grullin is a Wooden Roller Coaster that was made primarily to do two things: To have extremely unique elements, and a completely wild pacing, which it fulfills both. The statistics: Height: Approximately 177 feet Largest Drop: 142 feet (The first drop is a really twisted double down) Length: 6,107 feet Top Speed: 69 miles per hour Maximum Vertical G Forces: 5.3 (It only goes that high once, for a split second, and Vekoma Boomerangs have G's of 5.2, so I let it slide) Maximum Lateral G Forces: 1.8 (Since I saw some highly rated Wooden Roller Coasters with 1.8 lateral G's, I use that as a limit) Moments of airtime: 15 Grullin.nltrack Grullin - A truly wild ride.
trustkill22 Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 That track isn't that bad but, there was a couple of moments that you could see people screaming in pain and some of your banking needs to be worked on. I like that one element though with the banked left turn and than a banked right turn. I think that was about halfway through your track. I may have to use it sometime.
music11 Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 That speed hill kinda reminds of the hill after Boulderdash's drop. anyways cool coaster wish we could see some more screens because i dont have NL and this coaster looks pretty awesome and i really want to see them.
Tanks4me05 Posted January 6, 2007 Author Posted January 6, 2007 Here are some more pictures for all of those who want more. Here is the pre lift section. This is the Isihlg Turn, which is an acronym for the "I'm surprised it had low G's turn". This is nearing the end of the ride. The helix took me forever to create it correctly without causing Tunnel Test failures.
