Tömmioh Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Hi everyone, This TR is a bit old (I would've posted it, before if some camera related problems hadn't occured), from August this year. Me, my mom, and sister traveled about 530 miles up north to Lapland (the northern part of Finland) to just look around the area, nature, visit 'the' Santa and the most northern (as far as I know) themepark in the world, Santa Park. Now onto the photos: The last meal before returning home, was... yes you guessed or saw right, at McDonald's. Arctic circle center, (you know the place is lying). It was one of many souvenir shops in the 'Santa' area, you wasn't allowed to take photos in them, so sorry about that. Outside we saw some random candles queueing in a row. The passage up to groundlevel, with its nice red lights. (actually it wasn't that red, my camera messed around, it was probably on ’the colors of hell-' mode. The guestbook-table, without a guestbook, is about as dull as a zebra without stripes. Some quite nicely themed 'shops' maybe a bit too nice as you can see a WC sign, even though there wasn't a wc, lol The only place where you could get some food in the park. Some elves having fun, and rudolph the pink-nosed reindeer's head watching. Oh, it's just a local guy taking a bath. Some snowy huts and what's that in the 'teepee'? A traditional saame*-man taking a blow on his instrument or farting hard. Saame people are a minory of people living in north Sweden, Norway, Finland, who have their own language, traditons etc. Frogs on Mushrooms, the still 'secret' sequel to Snakes on a Plane. Their only ride left* was a darkride. *=they used to have three other rides, a carousel, a very small kiddy thing, and a family ride. http://www.huvipuisto.netclick on the union jack-flag and then on Santa Park on the leftpane Me looking: 'horny', stupid, anti-patriotic, wearing an old England soccer shirt. The 'elves' dance show, was a dissapointment, because there wasn't any midgets. They did also have an small icebar here, unfortunately there wasn't any shiny space-uniforms TADAA! The surprising twist of this topic, you'll see my sister instead of me, with the Santa. After paying the entrance fee of 10€ (~12$ or 6.5£), I went to Santa's office and... The long (around 600ft?) passage down to hell..erm to the park. Also, the park was really dark, which was good for its 'x-massy' atmosphere, but not for taking photos, without an extra flash Some facts for you. A rock and... A) a futuristic alien 'Jaws' mouth. B) The entrance to a themepark. Here we are. Our hotel in the middle of a forest, like practically anything in Finland. A nice 'canyon' with a river and a wooden slide. A reindeer, beside the road having a light snack. The small 'mistake', Särkänniemi's boss did when hungry: he ordered a edible halfpipe for 2.5€, but got a ride from intamin for 2 million € * *=I'm not sure about the price. Nice views and a rusty spaceship flying just above you, that's what I call... pretty. You can see far away from here and in winter you could ski down the hill. [/boring caption #53] Rocks and trees... and if you stare long enough you can see Musafa in the sky. You know, if my head wasn't attached to my body, I'm pretty sure it would be lying on lots of rocks and eating innocent skiers on one of Finland's highest hills. Higher up, with more trees and more stupid faces. Wee!! The first sitdown ski lift, I've ever been on. Pyhä mountain or Pyhä fell, as it's actually called, is one of Finland's highest mountains, at around 1710ft. Buster, the leader of the nice, local paper mache- tribe, wanted to give me a ride.* *-the ride was free! Ohh.. reindeers! The one on the left hasn't clearly used one of his 'powerboost' protein bars' yet, as he is losing to his buddy, Rüdiger. Yeeaaah!! that's what I'm talking about, catch that thief, and eat him!! You know, reindeers can suddenly run on the road, so you have to be careful, when driving. The Santa Village, and you see that sign and white 'arctic circle line' on the ground? It's freaking lying!! The real arctic circle is really like a mile up north, this one is only built or drawn here so that tourists can take their 'crossing the line' "Hello, I'm a soft moose and I can't get loose, so it's up for you to choose, if you want to buy me some cheap booze." Yes, we are that high up north now (see the dotted line). Before we really get going, I'll just take a small trip and some pancakes. Rovaniemi train station. This is the city where the rock group and this years Eurovision winners, Lordi, are from. [/boring caption #1] OMG!! It's 'the' pain-button, in a toilet!!! Our crammed, non-air contioned, triple bunkbed (or would that be 1.5 bunk bed?) cabin for the next 13 hours (note:there are no better cabins on that train).
NitroRider Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 mmmmmmmmmm......farts, sponge baths and.........FROGS ON MUSHROOMS!
