krazekiddd Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Hey, I just saw this movie at the IMAX since my company had an event there. It's a 3D movie that takes place with Aliens landing at a theme park and riding the rides. I personally enjoyed and suggest peeps go see it.
pvcoasterguy Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 I find that these types of films for IMAX 3D are really just for gimmicks. They are generally poorly made and make IMAX look pretty bad. Iwerks entertainment makes them, which is a leader in the motion ride industry. If I were going to see an IMAX movie, go see a real one. The Living Sea, Bugs! 3D, Adrenaline Rush, something. But those types of IMAX movies are pretty cheap, and our theatre refuses to get them because of the reasons I mentioned. Just my opinion, I work at an IMAX theatre, so I'm pretty up on the IMAX format/films.
krazekiddd Posted August 21, 2006 Author Posted August 21, 2006 Don't get me wrong, the last Imax I saw was Deep Sea 3D and that was totally amazing, much better than Alien Adventures. I figured since it was centered around an amusement park and it was pretty descent aside from the cheesiness, I would offer up the suggestion.
pvcoasterguy Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 ^ I know. I didn't want to sound condesending or anything. In fact, if we ever got that film (although we never would in a million years), I would see it for the coasters. I think a live-action documentary about coasters would be really cool in the IMAX 3D format. Not a Discovery Channel-style documentary, though. But POV's interspersed with explanations and commentary about the industry and physics. I feel it would be pretty cool.
