coasterdude5 Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 I'm looking for ways to make my site look more "professional" and I hear "Dreamweaver" and "Photoshop" tossed around alot. Would you need both of these and how exactly does Dreamweaver work. I've done some research and still haven't found that many answers. Is the Photoshop Elements package a better way to go or should I go for the full deal. Thanks for any help.
Carnage Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Dreamweaver is just another HTML editor with a GUI side to it. Think of it as a gloriphied text editor. It's basically like frontpage except it generates cleaner code. I gotta be honest though that getting Dreamweaver or Photoshop is NOT going to make your site look more profesional. Thes are just tools, you need to know what they're doing in the background to really get the most out of them. Making something profesional looking requires you know what your site needs to look like, and how to make it display that way. Probably just gives you more questions than answers though.
ParkTrips Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 I use Dreamweaver, its a very good tool for web editing that mixes both visuals and code well. Its by far the best, in my opinion. However, it is pricey, fortunatley I scored a student copy at a discounted rate... you may want to look into that. However, just remember, you can great sites with a simple text editor, you don't need an editor. Photoshop is also an excellent tool but, again, not neccessary. Elements often comes with digital cameras, though for a free option, Google's Picasa is fine for >95% of people. I gotta be honest though that getting Dreamweaver or Photoshop is NOT going to make your site look more profesional. Agreed.
Wes Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 "Dreamweaver" is a "website designing" software that allows you to design without "extensive knowledge" of "HTML" and "web based code". "Photoshop" is the industry standard "photo" editing "software" that has the most "tools" for manipulating "images" and "graphics". Basically, they're both professional tools and they both have a bit of a learning curve.
CoasterFanatic Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 I used to use Dreamweaver a lot and actually got "Certified" on it at one point. Great tool for the Intermediate designer but not really made for beginners. Search google for "photoshop tutorials" and "dreamweaver tutorials" for a plethora of good resources. WebMonkey is one that comes to mind. Now I just use HomeSite. Now there's a glorified text editor.
Golfie Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Personally, I just use Adobe Photoshop and a calculator (no joke!) Want proof? www.geocities.com/habbonook That's 100% authentic HTML. Plus, dreamweaver looks crazy confusing to me
