PhillyFlash65 Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 I am going to Hersheypark on a Friday and Dorney park the following Saturday. Can anyone help me with what kind of crowds/wait times I should expect? Any insight would be appreciated.
Eternal_Rider Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 it shouldn't be bad i never had a problem with either of those places. Every time i went there was no crowds and the longest line was like 30 mins at hershey but at dorney you shouldn't have ny problem. Unlee its hot that day than the waterparks will be very crowded ecsepcailly dorney's
YoshiFan Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Dorney won't have any major lines on the amusement side. Figure 10 - 20 minutes on average for the major coasters since you said you are going on a Saturday (on a weekday, the coasters are almost always walk ons to 5 minute waits)
DerekRx Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Hershey should get emptier as the night progresses on Friday. Unless there is rain, or its cold, the waterpark next door should suck a good portion of the crowd out of Dorney during the afternoon on Saturday, but expect things to pick up a little later once the sun starts to go down and the temperature drops.
PhillyFlash65 Posted July 30, 2006 Author Posted July 30, 2006 Well; you all were right about Hershey and we loved it. But there must've been something going on at Dorney, the parking lot was overflowing, the bus parking area was so full that other bussews had to park on the street, and the lines at the entrance gates were backed up into the parking lot at 3:30 in the afternoon. Steel Force was down, talon was running one train, and the rest of the park looked impassable...so I threw up my hands in disbelief and went home by 3:45. We were totally bummed out.
YoshiFan Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 That is shocking that Talon was running 1 train. In my past 6 visits to Dorney, Talon has always run with 2 trains even with crowds so light that the trains were less than half full. It sounds like it was a lot more crowded than normal.
coasterboy76 Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 I have been hitting SFSTL pretty regularly this year, and with the exception of a line at the Screamin Eagle this past Sunday.. (sniff.. makes me so happy) there hasn't been any lines on the coasters.. I also notice that the BOSS is running 3 trains, eagle 2 , batman 2 Mr. Freeze --CLOSED!!!! and I don't ever ride ninja or the mine train anymore. Water rides/ and water park different story... very lonng lines and very crowded.. but in all honesty everytime I have been to the park the past 8 years, I havent had to experience the long lines i did as a kid. which is kind of sad, because despite the long lines in the summer, as a kid we had alot of fun waiting in those lines, joking around, and just having fun.
