UK school holidays

Looking at Oakwood's website I see that they mention a school holiday timeframe of July 10-21 this year. Does that apply for all of the UK as well and does anyone know what the school holiday season will be in 2007? I know those two weeks should be avoided in trip planning.

I'm not sure if it's the same time every year, but according to my wife (who has spent far too much time working in the UK), the holiday time usually starts in July, so I'd guess that these dates are probably the same for every year.

My advice for anyone going to parks in the UK/Europe is to go in June. The only park that had a crowd on the UK trip was Thorpe Park. The rest were dead and rides were practically walk-ons almost everywhere. The same could be said for the trip we took to Europe in 2005, where most of the parks were pretty empty, especially on weekdays. Just my random thoughts...

The dates are not school break/vacation/holiday times, as schools (take this as throughout the UK for a reasonable guide) will usually finish say 21st July and take a six week break. The reference on the Oakwood website should really read

'just when you thought you could come mid-week and it would be quiet because the schools are not on holiday just yet......think again, as we have promoted the park heavily to the schools as an end of year treat idea for the kids!'

Anyway - there you have it, I think it is similar practice around the globe, basically take the big year change break and count back two weeks if you want to get around the park avoiding the queues. (kids - little b******s)

If you are planning a trip, I'm sure Meteornotes will agree, the weather in the UK in June is good (enough) for all but the coldest of waterparks/ water rides

Good luck with the planning

Just FYI the Scottish school holidays tend to be a bit earlier and start around June 30th running to mid-August. Not that any of the Scottish parks are super crowded anyway but we ARE in the UK.
