The best way to go this season is the meal and admission package this season. You can find it at the website under the trip planning tab and then click on special offers. The price is 29.95 and you get an all you can eat dinner. You do have to call early for this deal. The number is 816.303.5135. I sound like a WOF rep don't I? About the quality of the park. It is my home park so it is hard for me to say that it is average at best. I haven't been to many parks that I wouldn't want to trade with including Geauga Lake. I have fun at WOF, but it just is missing a real signature ride. But, it is small, lines are short, people are nice for the most part, and ride ops keep things moving. It is a really nice relaxed day, but none of the rides are going to blow you away. Mamba is my favorite. I think it is better than Magnum, but I'm not sure how much that says.

I believe WOF would be a good fit for this ride. Kansas City is on the rise in the entertainment industry. Next year an arena is opening and will more than likely have an NHL team come with it. Schlitterbahn will be opening a new year-round park next to the racetrack that will probably take over as the best waterpark in the world. Legoland is strongly considering building a park 30 miles southwest of WOF. WOF attendance had a strong spike this year with the addition of Patriot. Kansas City is going to have a huge increase in vacationers over the next 3-5 years and CF has an opportunity to be in on the action. WOF is my home park so I am bias towards it, but I even can recognize that we are only a potential good park and still need some high thrill rides to be a major attraction. I think CF would be smart to beef up WOF's ride selection. Transporting this high dollar ride to WOF makes great sense and would not cost nearly as much as starting a new ride from scratch. With all of that said, I still would put WOF as third on the list to get X-Flight. The two front runners in my mind would have to be MiA and PKI. They both could use a new attraction more than WOF.

I am planning a mini-trip to LA from June 8 through June 14. I was wanting some help with SFMM and KBF if possible. My plan is to hit KBF as soon as I get into town Thursday, June 8, then go to SFMM on Monday, June 12. I have looked at a handful of other related threads, but here are a few questions that I still have unanswered. Sorry for the laundry list of questions, but I get a little nuts when it comes to vacation. 1. Is there any problems with the dates that I have chosen to go to the parks? 2. Getting in the only current 4th dimension coaster is my top priority. Has X been running well (or at all) lately? (or is anything else not running currently, namely Deja Vu or Revolution) 3. Is there anywhere good to eat at SFMM? 4. I know that you should hit X first thing in the morning, but with the addition of Tatsu, would it be better to hit Deja Vu or Tatsu second? 5. What is the best seat choice for Deja Vu to maximize comfort and fun? 6. Is it possible to get through every coaster at SFMM and X twice on a Monday if I stay from open to close? 7. What is the best order to hit rides at KBF to maximize ride time and minimalize line time? (To clarify, what order should I ride Silver Bullet, Ghostrider, and XCelerator) 8. Is there any shows at either Knott's or SFMM that are worth seeing? Feel free to add any nuggets of great advice if you have any. I surely would appreciate it. Thanks for the help.

I'm sorry that my post gave you the feel of a negative spin. The reason that I am so surprised is that I have rode a small handful of coasters in your top listings, and have similar feelings. The only thing your top list lacks that most other coaster lovers have in their list is CP rides (namely MF). Though I have rarely posted on this forum, I do frequently read it. It always sounds like you have a sour attitude toward CP. Even with your high coaster count, 4oth still sounds low for such a solid ride especially with the high number of Intamin hypers in your highest ratings. But if that really is how you feel and it isn't just some grudge you have against the park, I am more than willing to accept it. Thanks for giving people such a fun place to have these debates. Where does your disdain for CP stem? Did CP take your puppy away? I hate to question a personal opinion, but putting MF in such a low position just makes me wonder. I admit that I do not have near the coaster count as you do, but I have rode some of your top twenty so I am going to argue through those. My greatest beef has to be with Sheikra. Seriously. You honestly are going to tell people that Sheikra all around is a better ride than MF? If you think TTD is lame, then you are forced to think Sheikra is lame. It has a good drop and then...............wait, I'm thinking............oh yeah, nothing. At least MF has great speed and excitement throughout the ride. MF and TTD easily better than Sheikra. Next arguement. Mummy!?! That thing is interesting for about a ride and a half. After you know what is coming, there really is no reason to ride it. I guess it does cruise along at a blistering 40MPH through absolutely no airtime. MF easily better than Mummy. Now I come to Kumba. I too really enjoy this ride, but it is mainly about speed and power, not airtime. So obviously you do like other things. If speed and force is what you like, then you will find it abundantly with MF. Quick sharp turns. Several moments close to the ground with trees zipping past your head. Three surprising moments of some floater airtime. MF easily better than Kumba. And I bring this arguement to a close with Hulk. You have been on over 400 coasters and this one still makes your top 15? That makes me cry to know that there are only 14 or less better steel coasters than this one. What on earth does this ride have over MF? A weak launch then a slow cruise through a series of inversions. Hulk most of the time feels like it is struggling to get through most of them. You comment about the roughness of Magnum, and yet Hulk's bumpy course through a slow feeling ride is overlooked? MF is easily better than Hulk. Sorry to sound like such a jerk about this, but I just feel that you are falsely advertising MF and the rest of CP as a poor destination for thrill-seekers. On a kinder note. Lets look at CP track record over the past 20 years 1987 - Iron Dragon - The world's longest inverted 2 years later 1989 - Magnum - World's tallest fastest coaster and still a top coaster to this day Two years later 1991 - Mean Streak - The tallest woodie in the world 3 years later 1994 - Raptor - Tallest fastest inverted in the world 2 years later 1996 - Mantis - Tallest fastest longest stand up in the world 4 years later 2000 - Millenium Force - Tallest fastest coaster in the world 2 years later 2002 - Wicked Twister - Tallest fastest inverted in the world 1 year later 2003 - Top Thrill Dragster - Tallest fastest coaster in the world It will be 4 years since the last coaster in 2007 I know that records don't make coasters great, but chances are that whatever they do next year will be something big and more than likely record setting. They have never built a clone in the last 20 years, so it probably is going to be an original design. Chances are that it will be good. So if B&M is doing it (which is a decent chance) it could be one of their masterpieces.

I also attended the Patriot media day. I am a WOF homer as my name would indicate. As a WOF season passport holder I am totally juiced to have the ride. As a coaster fan, I am a little disappointed. It does not compare to other B&M inverts that I have been on such as Raptor, DD, and Montu. The drop is so-so, the zero-g roll doesn't seem to give much float time, the Immelman seems to kill momentum, the inclined bank curve has little to no force, and the elements are so spaced that the excitement seems interrupted. To get back on topic, I don't think B&M ever had weak rides. They for the most part are all great rides. Some years are just off years. Post 9/11, travel was down and it just wasn't good years to build a monster investment. I also think that they were just getting asked for smaller, cheaper rides from parks. Patriot is not a bad B&M coaster, it is just for a park that can't afford their very best effort. By going from 05-07 they will have built SheiKra, Tatsu, Goliath at 2 parks, probably another dive coaster at BGW, and probably one of their best coasters ever at CP if they are the manufacturer producing that one. B&M is still the Lexus of roller coasters and probably will be for years to come. Ride them and enjoy them. On a side note, Bolliger was at the opening of Tatsu. I talked to him breifly. I don't think that he understands English that great. It was cool to meet a coaster legend though.
