Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
coastersandhockey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Cedar Point held their annual Winter Chillout event this weekend benefitting "A Kid Again". The park raised over $150,000 for the organization through this event. Some things the park announced at the event: Chick-Fil-A, Mac Shack, Wild Turnip are all being removed this season. No word on their replacements. It was noted that Chick-Fil-A being removed goes along with the other Cedar Fair parks removing theirs. No bad blood with CFA, just expiring contracts. Forbidden Frontier will not be returning as well. The park says that not enough people visited the attraction. I believe that even though Forbidden Frontier is being removed, Professor Delbert's Frontier Fling the park's skycoaster will still be operating. The Boardwalk section will have beautiful marquees at each end designating the area of the park. Concept art was shown but no pictures were allowed. They are inspired by the logo used in this pin and other Made to Thrill products. For some reason I couldn't find the specific logo on google. https://madetothrill.com/collections/made-to-thrill-x-cedar-point/products/made-to-thrill-x-cedar-point-original-sign-pin Each Wild Mouse car will have a name. There is The Cheese Car, Ziggy, Zaggy, Mazey, Larry, Dizzy, and Chase Walking taco stand on main midway will become a new alcohol stand, walking tacos moving in with Derby Dogs. Grand Pavilion will include quick service food with a similar system to that used at other newer dining locations like Farmhouse, Hugos, Backbeat BBQ. There will also be two large dining rooms on the ground floor with windows that can be opened. Second floor will include a walk up snack stand and of course a large bar. Patios on the second floor overlooking the lake. I think thats about all for the very noteworthy news. They also took us down Top Thrill Dragster midway. There is A LOT missing. Of course all the track aside from the tower is missing, but they've also removed all the cement, gates, old queueline, etc from the whole unload and load area. All that is left is the station canopy. Matterhorn and Scrambler are also gone and awaiting their move to The Boardwalk. Here's some pictures: Matterhorn and Scrambler area. Foodstand in this location was also removed. It most recently sold the CP Juice Sippers. Piece of Iron Dragon has been removed. Noting the location in relation to Dragster, let the speculation begin. Tony did confirm nothing is happening with Iron Dragon. It is "just getting work done" and will be open in 2023. The following few images is a few shots from a behind the scenes opportunity we got with Millennium: Now some Dragster pictures... Better look at the missing piece of Iron Dragon. And now some Wild Mouse content. We were not allowed down that midway as it is an active construction zone: Thanks for reading! -
Thank you for the pointers! Your assumption is correct on the QQ, and that was pretty much our plan. Glad to hear a local back up that plan. Sad to hear about Scorpion. Oh well, gives me a reason to come back. Question on the dining. We have the all day dining pass, can we use that in conjunction with the mobile ordering? Also, does the park have any sort of souviner drink cup with all day free refills? I don't see anything on the website but it feels strange that a regional park wouldn't have that. Bonus points if they have it and its also good at Seaworld Orlando And yes, I'm terrified of the crowds I will encounter all weekend here and at Universal. But, it's my first opportunity to ever go to Florida so I had to take it LOL

Hi everyone, Visiting the park for the first time on Monday the 20th, which is President's Day. We only have about 4 hours as we head to the airport in the evening. Should I expect to be able to hit all the coasters plus Infinity Falls? Is there a good plan of attack? And is there any scheduled ride closures? I can't find anything on their website so I assume we are good there.

Hi all, making my first trip to the park this coming Saturday. I know it is a holiday weekend so I am expecting it to be busy, so we bought Quick Queue to account for that. So with that in mind is there any tips you can provide about the park, how to attack it, hidden gems aside from the rides, and if I'll have to wait hours in line to get some food? I also see Scorpion is suddenly listed as temporarily closed. That seemed rather sudden as it doesn't have a scheduled closure until March. Any locals know whats going on there? Thanks in advance!

Sorry for double post but I did see that Superman wound up opening this weekend. However, Adventure Park USA was able to open their coasters for a couple hours on Sunday and we made the trip there instead since we've never been there. I grew up riding Wildcat at Cedar Point and although this isn't the exact same ride, it was nice to get back on basically the same coaster again. Wild West Coaster is an interesting little ride too! We also chatted with who I believe was the owner for a little bit. You can tell the pride he has in his little park. I highly recommend a quick stop on your way to or from Six Flags America if you come from Northwest of DC. The park is located right off I70. Some pictures:

Thanks for the info. I'll call adventure park later today and see what I can find out. It sounds like you're as puzzled as I am with Superman. I knew it was always closed for HITP but figured since they aren't doing that this year Superman would stay open these couple weekends. Six flags gonna six flags I guess.

Hey Six Flags America locals (do those exist?)! I might stop by the park this weekend on the way back to Ohio from Williamsburg but I'm seeing Superman listed as Temporarily closed. Is that true? If it is I can't see us making the side trip. Another question is if anybody is familiar with nearby Adventure Park USA and can tell me if their coasters would be operating this weekend? Thanks in advance

Hi everyone, I'm attending Busch Gardens this weekend. I've been plenty of times before but not during Christmas Town and I see that this weekend is Christmas Town preview! How much of the full Christmas Town will I be missing? Just some of the lights won't be up yet is what I'm assuming. Also, Saturday looks like it'll be a great weather day. Should I expect huge crowds? Final question, can I expect all listed rides to be open barring any maintenence/weather issues? This will be my third time there since Pantheon was built but my first since it has opened. Thanks in advance

Carowinds Discussion Thread
coastersandhockey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hi! Making a trip to Carowinds this coming Sunday and Monday and see on Queuetimes.com that Intimidator, Hurler, and Nighthawk have all been listed as closed for a while. Is this true or is it just a bug in queuetimes. Thanks in advance! Edit: Decided to just call the park and was assured all the coasters mentioned above would be open. She did mention that I should expect the skytower and plants vs zombies to be closed though. Figured I'd pass that info along here. -
Hi all, I have planned a trip to BGW in March 20th and 21st. Just out of curiosity does anyone know if Busch Gardens is still at a 1000 person capacity limit? And also whats the story with covid rules? I imagine by this point in the pandemic most people who go to amusement parks have figured out how to wear a mask and social distance but who knows... lol. Thanks in advance!
