  1. Pretty neat to see Dollywood expanding by half a billion dollars over the next 10 years... I was worried with the pandemic that it would be hindered, but it seems like they're ready to continue on... I don't think the dark ride idea is a bad idea for 2022, but I feel like if they were going to do something for next year, we'd have already heard it... Likely another expansion to wildwood grove if it does happen... That 2023 record breaking attraction has my attention for sure though. I wonder just what they might have up their sleeves, but I have a sneaking suspicion if it's a coaster, I know where it is gonna go already. That area around the Mountain slidewinder which we know has been pretty much abandoned for a while now seems the most likely spot for a BIG. coaster. It would absolutely dominate the front of the park, standing tall over the big amphitheater area near the entrance of the park. Especially if you have the entrance for it back near Barnstormer. There's a lot of space up there... lot of terrain too... Course I could also be completely talking out my you know what here, either way, I'm excited to see what they have planned.
  2. Assuming this is about LR, not a good start...
  3. I don't know what it was about Mystery Mine, but I always felt sick after riding that thing. I always enjoyoed the ride, but I couldn't reride it even once...
  4. I was one of the few lucky ones to get to experience Lightning Rod in it's hay day, compared to when they slowed it down... frankly I'm not surprised.. Coaster enthusiasts like myself loved the... well.. just plain, OUT OF BLOODY CONTROL feeling that the ride first gave... My dad though? not so much. He wouldn't ride it again. Honestly I could tell a difference when they slowed it down a bit.. but I'm just happy we're gonna (hopefully) get a far more dependable version of lightning rod back. Even a somewhat neutered lightning rod is still probably the best coaster I've ever ridden. Granted, my ride list is rather short.
  5. Boy there is A LOT. to unpack here. Lightning Rod -SOUNDS- awesome now. That RMC roar is something even on video, I can't imagine in person. Looks like it hauls up that launch hill again like it used too... also I notice the lead car is back on once more (the original car I think). They're halfway done retracking the original track on Thunderhead with South American Ipe, or Ironwood. RMC apparently is also working on Blazing Fury as well which I did not know.... they're retracking that as well. Mystery Mine retracking is continuing after that trestle part... Sounds like they aren't going to be able to open it on opening day though. "Reprofiling" it, apparently... They've completely demolished one of the store buildings around one of the larger outdoor seating areas, I'm not sure exactly where... It looks a lot more open though without it. They've moved the blacksmith shop, and the gentleman behind the glass blowing part of the store has retired. They're still gonna sell some of his glassworks, but his actual work area will no longer exist. I believe they've moved the blacksmith area into where the pottery area used to be.... They've repainted and put a new roof on the church there. New seating area being added for the Hickory House BBQ area. A LOT of work going on in Craftsman Valley. The building that once housed the southern gospel museum is getting a facelift as well... Looks like they went and focused a lot of money into revamping the park a bit this year, particularly that Craftsman Valley area. Just from that video, I can't remember them every doing this much work to the park. Can't wait to see it.
  6. I love that color scheme for Georgia Scorcher... that Red and gray looks spectacular.
  7. I agree with the person above me. I don't see why we couldn't put the spinning coaster indoors. Would be a really neat combo of the two and fit the second portion of Wildwood Grove quite well I think.
  8. See, I could understand that, but you're asking a large park like Six Flags over Georgia that isn't a flagship of the chain, lets be honest. SFOG doesn't get the funding or support that a Great America or Magic Mountain will.... You're expecting them to be able to turn around and perform mandatory maintenance on older rides and trains, in a climate that is known for being fairly abusive to outdoor rides, plus have inspections and the like, in about 2 months of time. That's nearly impossible and it's simply amazing they do what they can with the time they have.
  9. Yeah, That's exactly what I meant by legitimate.
  10. You're gonna get that anyways though since the train-line goes right around it.
  11. Eh what the hell, I'll give it a go. My top 10... now.. keep in mind, I've only been to... 5 parks in my time... so... 1. Lightning Rod. (it's not even close either. I could ride this one for days and it'd never get old or boring). Dollywood 2. Wild Eagle. (Perhaps a bit shorter than what it could have been, it's still my dad's favorite and my second favorite) Dollywood 3. Aerosmith's Rockin' Roller Coaster. Disney's Hollywood Studios, Orlando. 4. Thunderhead. (I got the chance to ride this back in 2009... was absolutely my number 1 back then) Dollywood. 5. Goliath. Six Flags over Georgia. 6. Blue Hawk. Six Flags over Georgia. (yeah. perhaps a bit high for some people. I really really loved the remake of Ninja.) 7. Great American Scream Machine. Six Flags over Georgia (A lot of people hate it, I love it. Love the name too.) 8. Space Mountain: Disneyworld Orlando. (eh, perhaps a bit tame, but. disney theming and such.) 9. Batman the Ride: Six Flags over Georgia 10. Cheetah. Wild Adventures, Valdosta GA. (A typical out and back woodie, but one of the first I ever went on. I remember loving the speed it had back then... I'm sure today it doesn't meant as much)
  12. I do have to wonder if they are content with going with the more family side of things... or if eventually they will break out into a more thrill rides oriented park. When was the last time that Wild Adventures got a new coaster? a legitimate one?
  13. I forgive you. But seriously though, aside from Mountain Slidewinder’s plot of land and the extra Wildwood Grove clearing, where would a new major Dollywood coaster go? My guess? The country Fair/Owen's Farm area is very much due for a renovation. In fact, Wildwood Grove very much has everything that.. well... the country fair area already has... So it wouldn't surprise me if they go and completely shut down that area and turn it into something new. Edit: The lone exception being of course, the station for the Dollywood Express... But you could very easily put that into Wildwood Grove as well with that long straight of track they have going up the side by Dragonflier.
  14. That's this weekend o.o. Columbus Day is the 8th.
