Hefeweizen usually consist of wheat versus using barley during the cooking process. If the hop acids and the wheat sugars, along with the yeast, blend together nice, you get a very clean and sometimes fruity top-fermenting ale.
If you plan on trying a Hefe, I would suggest Widmer’s or Pyramids. Then move to the more sophisticated micro Hefes.
