  1. Unfortunatly I did not. Taken photos and ride Taron over and over again took way to much time ...
  2. I just returned from the Klugheim and Taron Pre Operning yesterday. The new themed area looks absolutely stunning and no question about it: Taron is a star in it's own right. After the first launch (which packs quite a punch) it's a nice speedy ride through tunnels and trenches but after the second one the coaster becomes an untamed beast with ejector airtime and insane turns and twists. The train design is no less than amazing and the soundtrack adds to the whole experience. But what distinguishes Taron from all coasters you possibly could find in the US is how close you can get to the ride - and how close it can get to you. When you are on the ride, there is constantly another train zooming by you and if you prefer to watch, you can almost give rides a high five. Taron is one of the best coasters worldwide and for me - personally - as I am a great fan of launched coasters, it's Germany's new #1. Lucky me, it's just a 20 minutes drive from home. Welcome to Klugheim ... ... and welcome to Taron A place where you can find some very friendly inhabitants Where you are reminded to open the door to luck, when it knocks Where you wonder, where the 9 missing bottles could be Okay, now I know Where they have a really old school kind of PhotoPass+ Where everything is so nicely themed, you think you are at Disney Infidel! Stop babbling! Bring on some taron photos now! Okay okay ... I see tracks ... And a waterfall But where is the train? Ah, there it is. Rather fast! Ah, that's more like it. One of the twisty turns I told you about And as it turns out: more turns! No good ride without bunny hops The entrance of "Raik", standing in the shadow of his taller brother. Poor Raik. A mix of fun and fear on people's faces is always a good sign The pre opening took place quite late in the evening, so for the shot's you've seen so far the light was less than ideal. But as soon the sun went down, the whole area looked even more amazing. The track and rockwork is lit beautifully at night But where is the train? Tracks, tracks and even more tracks. When it comes to twisted tracks - Taron is where you will find it I guess you'll see more pictures taken from this spot in the near future The nightly Klugheim area with the tower of mystery castle in the background The inside of the themed restaurant Thank you all for reading! Come and see Klugheim soon! As is the waterfall area
  3. I met Werner Stengel and Richard Rodriguez in Holiday Park on a special event called "Hattrick Day" held especially for coaster enthusiasts. I even had the opportunity to ride Expedition GeForce with them. Richard Rodriguez Werner Stengel
  4. When I visited the studios in october 2008 most of the attractions did open at 11am while the park itself opened at 9am. When we went over to the islands we were unable to get into Poseidon's Fury because we missed the last show at 4pm (the park closed at 7pm). When I compare present-day universal with the one I experienced on my first visit back in 2001, I remember that there was a lot more street entertainment too, the kind of you find at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
  5. I use a Nikon D300 digital SLR. But even with this baby I had to delete about 90% of all pictures because they had to much noise or looked blurred.
  6. I've been a fellow member of TPR for quite some years but most of you guys will not know me, as I do not post that much here -- my "home forum" is onride.de. On my last trip to Orlando a finally did manage to attend the "Halloween Horror Nights". I took some photos and hope you'll like them. Eye candy I admit, I never tried to walk on stilts. But even if I could, I would NEVER try to walk through a crowd, like this guy did. Just another sign. This proves you can look sexy even with a Dr. Emmett Brown haircut! Did anyone see a bunny? She was my personal favorite, as she managed to be creepy without hysterically laughing or yelling "Boo!". Wait, I just found another pumpkin-shot. Welcome to your own personal fairy tale nightmare. Sign? Check! Lights? Check! Fog? Check! It's ggrrrrr-time! Punk is (not) dead. "The Absence Of R and V" Did anyone write "pumpkin"? It makes Mr. pumpkin even more scary! Who ever placed the lights did a really good job! Pumpkin à la surprise. Bon appetit! ... rather wicked when night falls... Looks kind of friendly while the sun is shining, but... The Skoolhouse This guy has been lurking in the trees No head... not bad!
  7. Hi everybody, my name is Tom and I am from Moers, Germany. You don't need to know this city, as most germans don't either. Some of you may know me from my award winning video masterpieces ("Stampeeeeedddaaaaaa!" and "Ein highspeed coaster von Vekoma"). I just received a "Keep your Theme Park Review Account Active!" mail from Theme Park Review and said to myself: "Man, you really should log on to theme park review more often". My main forum is onride.de and where I am maintaining "Tom's Orlando Guide", so I (hope I) am quite an Orlando specialist (with 2 trips each year I should be one).
  8. I don't think so... A couple of minutes later (same seat)
  9. Oh yeah, seing GeForce degrade from its opening year to now is really sad. First came the vibrations, now it's the lack of speed. It's a great ride after all, but you always have one better ride in mind: GeForce, as it used to be, some years ago (when there were no staff members all around to constantly remind you that this is the "best rollercoaster in the world"). During the ERT, I took some pictures. Basically they are only "face-shots" and there is absolutely no nudity in it -- I don't think they are to interesting for people, who were not there, so I uploaded them to picasaweb. You'll find them in my gallery. Rrrr...
  10. This -- really -- is good news. Congratulations from germany. I'm so happy that everything went well. I guess you and Robb must be "proud as hell". I'm sure the two of you will be some fantastic parents and I can't wait to see the whole little Alvey family (again). Kristen is a great name, sound pretty nordic to me. As a software developer it reminds me Kristen Nygaard who invented this first object oriented programming language, but ... never mind ... he was a guy. I just remeber the day in when you were my "scout" in six flags magic mountain and told me, that you would not be able to ride (do you remember the ride-op on Superman: "Come on, you should ride, it's fun, it's not that scary!" LOL). The first thing I thought was: "Robb's going to be daddy" I just love it, when I'm right! So enjoy your new little family, relax and have fun.
  11. Sorry, but the Video isn't online any more.
  12. Well, the walls and the waterfall were close. But not that close.
  13. Alright, I went to the pre-opening yesterday and have some nice shots for you. The ride is quite difficult to shoot, as there are meshes everywhere. Black Mamba is a nicely themed, smooth running, compact and thrilling ride, it's not to long but the themeing makes the difference. You have water-effects, sound-effects and non-stop action. It's not nemesis. But it's really really good. If you can - ride it! The area "Deep in Africa" The band "se-side" opened the pre-opening with the performance of the official "Black Mamba" Song They really looked great Really great! Really really great! (The were swedish!) Themeing Here comes the train The first drop Loop Train again First-Drop again Themeing details - awesome Snakes, why had it to be snakes? The lifthill Yeeeaaaah! B&M rules! Loop again First drop Themeing Themeing
  14. Hmm, how about a short translation here? 00:46: De Oude Tufferbaan = The old Chitty Chitty bang bang-street 02:22: Komm schon... = Come on... 02:25: Du schaffst es... = You can do it... 02:27: Nur noch ein kleines Stuck = Only just a little bit... 02:31: Na also! Geht doch! = Allright! That wasn't that hard, was it? 02:45: Moers = Most beautyful town on earth (home of MultiMueller) 02:49: Trink Fante = Drink Fanta 02:49: Sei Bamboocha = Be Bamboocha (not translatable, makes even no sense in german) 03:31: Schadensmeldung Herr Kaleun = damage report, lieutenant!
  15. It actually is. Great strange dutch Pre-Show. Great Music. Two thumbs up!
  16. And it's not only a bobsled, it's an Intamin bobsled! As I said it: I love this park. But I just remember some strange video with some guys from the US, who did not look so happy in this park I think there also was an angry sheep involved...
  17. I love efteling. I really do. Okay, from time to time I get lost in the park, but I really, really love it. And yes -- you can have fun there! Want a proof? Download the video and watch lots of onride.de-members actually enjoying "De Efteling". No fake. I'm serious. De Eftelling MPEG-Video, 41,2MB, 3:35 Fun Fun Fun at efteling
  18. Unfortunately that's not mine. It's a japanese one from one of our high-tech-gadget-onride-girls. The european launch day is september, 1st. I'll wait till then...
  19. Wow! Two times second place and a "Notable". "Thank you!" to all ThemeparkReview readers for voting. It feels great to be so really, really famous now By the way... I would like to thank my parents and ... well ... I love you all! There is only one thing, that could be even better than this: EIN HIGHSPEED-COASTER VON VEKOMA! By the way: I just finished a video from a big german fun-fair, called "Duesseldorfer Rheinkirmes". It features some cool rides, a Schwarzkopf "Alpina-Bahn" and Boobs! (french TV-style!) MPEG Video, 22.6MB The Rheinkirmes in Duesseldorf I was really amazed to make it into 2nd place!
  20. Har, Har... me too! Just to make sure nobody gets wet!
  21. Coke light = Diet Coke Hamburger Royal = QuarterPounder (have you seen Pulp Fiction?) Esso=Exxon Opel=Vauxhall (card brand, for our readers from the UK) Langnese=Wall's (ice cream, for our readers from the UK)
  22. I believe they do because Vekoma wanted to avoid an patent held by Intamin. But I may be wrong 8)
  23. Well -- after finishing just about 7 Minutes of video (I do not do this very often) -- I realize once again, what great achivement it's to produce a dozen of full-lenght Coaster-DVDs, without a single boring sequence in it, like Robb and Elissa do.
  24. I really did not know that. I have to admit, that I knew the song from the Apple iLife Commercial and did not know there was an original version. Down here in Europe we are not used to adult & mainstream versions of the same piece. But we are also used to lots of f-words and boobs on tv (as Robb happily found out ) But as I have synched the music to the picture frame by frame I do not think it would be a good idea to exchange the soundtrack. Nevertheless thanks for the offer.
  25. Speaking of insane: Here is my second video of the Themepark Review Europe Trip featuring Walibi World. You'll see great coasters, great fun, great people (meet some members of onride.de) and well ... see for yourself. Video: Walibi World MPEG - 39,8 MB Walibi World + Themepark Review + onride.de = Insanity!
