  1. I feel for the fans of this park. Having lost Astroworld back in 2005, this news just stirs up old feelings. Alot of locals are still bitter towards Six Flags, and its become a name you generally dont mention around here. Hate to see this sort of thing happen again. I think people are missing the big picture... these are entire parks that are disappearing. Whether or not youre a fan of GL, its simply not a good sign for the industry.
  2. Id have to disagree with the 'rough' assessment. Rattler last year was rough. Boardwalk Bullet is certainly aggressive - its a giant twisting maze of a wooden coaster - but I wouldnt call it overly rough or even approaching painful. If you rode a woodie or two, you know what to expect. I find it funny that its described as "aggressive" yet "too small to be thrilling." To be frank, I rode it quite a few times and enjoyed it. I generally have a low pain tolerance (as does my fiance), but we had fun with this one. And I didnt hear a single complaint or negative remark any of the days we visited - from anyone. In fact I know people who rode it 10, 20, even 40 times the first week with minimal discomfort. To make predictions on how BB will age is absurd at this point.
  3. The tracks are nothing that belonged to Astroworld.
  4. Hmmm... no offense, but curious to know where you heard this rumour concerning eventual removal? Also, Im not a construction worker or coaster expert by any means, but Im puzzled as to how a coaster could effectively "tear itself apart"?
  5. The padding was very thin, and the OTSRs were akward and somewhat uncomfortable. Remember that all you have is a bicycle type seat under you, feet flat on the ground, and that big bulky OTSR (with your right arm looped in). The coaster wasnt exactly smooth to begin with, and your head would basically bounce around in the restraint. Which wouldnt be too bad if it was soft. And perhaps it was at one point (looooong ago). The only way to avoid a beating was to stick your neck out as far as possible, so that your neck got banged up instead of your head. Keep in mind AW also had a Vekoma SLC (the infamous hang 'n bangs), which was actually a comfortable ride compared to Batman.
  6. I would say the majority of the AW rides seemed to be removed gently, although minor damage is bound to occur here and there. Im sure theyre prepared for such an instance. On the flipside, Batman really should get updated trains (or at least newly padded restraints), since this coaster was absolutely painful. At least I think it was... its hard to remember after all concussions.
