  1. LOL..Nobody asked for anything of the ridiculous things you mentioned. So like i said before it is b/c you said so. No I don't believe you over reports. Also, reports on other conversions costs. You were at most a college kid who the hire to run a ride for the summer and they would never tell a minion what the cost was, you're self described inflated importance is laughable.
  2. Mantis cost 12M, the conversion to Rougarou was 2-3M from some reports. It was significantly more than that. I'm not gonna discuss the details of it, but it was a larger investment than people make it out to be. It's enough money that I don't consider 2015 as an "off-year" at CP in terms of investment totals. Right...Your comment is b/c you said it cost more. All reports are wrong b/c you said so.
  3. Once again, I say, never change. Honestly, I hope it opens in 2017 so that every other poster in the Cedar Point thread no longer has a reason to post about Rocky Mountain redoing Mean Streak. Now all we need them to do is Hurler and nearly everyone will give me peace and quiet... Wishful thinking. There are a bunch of other rough old woodies that could use RMC conversion. I think CF may go on a run like SF did with 5 or 6 conversions. Your peace is over before it starts. RMC Roar...lol.
  4. The app with coupons says its 5 bucks off per person, so 10 off a 2 person flash pass, 15 off a 3 person, etc. It says valid anytime in 2017 though but doesn't hurt to try getting the discount. Jumping in to ask if all the 2017 season pass coupons are online or via the app? In the past I've gotten one of those little booklets but when we got our pass upgraded Wednesday for next year they didn't give us anything. It wasn't even on my radar until I was driving home. Perhaps they haven't come up with the 2017 discounts yet? Thoughts?? The coupon deals for 2017 are not known yet. The only 2017 coupons showing up on the app are discounts on flash pass and the 2017 Season Sports Bottle.
  5. Mantis cost 12M, the conversion to Rougarou was 2-3M from some reports.
  6. People keep repeating this marketing thing. The fact is the people that bought season passes right away are the people that are going to buy no matter what. RMC MS announced right away wasn't going to sway them. Second, by not announcing the enthusiast crowd have been talking about it non stop on forums, tons of youtube speculation on every little happening. They are getting hype by not announcing. When they do announce it won't be clustered with a bunch of other announcements or SF announcements soon after. They have built up anticipation by their teasing, trolling, etc...on what's going to happen with MS. There are also some theories I have heard on it being announced at IAAPA in November with RMC having all the renderings at their booth. RMC is doing something with MS they have never done before with other conversions and are going to unveil it at IAAPA. Don't know about this theory. My theory is they like trolling people and building the anticipation. They also think they can get a secondary pass sales increase with a late november/december announcement for the holidays. SF does a flash sale that gives away the farm that starts the day of their announcements, CF doesn't. CF thus doesn't mind making some later announcements b/c they aren't basing their sales largely on the announcements and a bargain product sales strategy.
  7. Where is the 18M for New Texas Giant from? Everything I have ever read says it cost 10M to RMC back in 2011
  8. I hope this does turn into a Six Flags type thing. Look how many "meh" coasters Six Flags changed into amazing, crazy, extreme coasters. If Cedar Fair is doing the same thing, it means there are some awesome coasters coming in the future. Awesome coasters that will use an already existing footprint, which leaves room for more additions in the future. If anyone is complaining about Cedar Fair taking the Six Flags approach and RMCing old, tired, dated coasters into new cutting edge thrill rides are either insane, or have never been on an RMC . . . Or both. Some people just want to complain. RMC revitalization of woodies that have lost their luster has been an enthusiasts dream. The best coasters SF has added over the last 6 years are arguably most of their RMC's . CF has a bunch of great RMC candidates and SF still still has quite a few too. Cedar Fair 2017 Mean Streak(IMO) 2018 Hurler - KD FutureRMC's I'd like to see : Canadian Mine Buster - Wonderland, The Racer - KI, Hurler - Carrowinds Six Flags Future RMC' I'd like to see: Monstre - LaRonde, GA Cyclone or Great Amricam Machine - SFOG, Roar - SFA, American Eagle - SFGAm
  9. I'm prepared to be wrong but I'm starting to get more excited than I probably should because these look just like Mean Streak's markers and once again... they've done no visible work on Hurler. None. The thought of adding even a small RMC to that already amazing lineup is tremendously exciting, so while it's far from a certainty I find myself getting more excited about this than I probably should. It's all in my own head though, so if I turn out to be wrong I won't be one of the people blaming the park for hyping it up too much. The hype train exists entirely in my own head for this thing. Hurler RMC is coming IMO. They did the announcement with the phrase "'There's Really More Coming", which was as subtle as their "Richard Michael Crosby" with Mean Streak. They might be trying to get a big jump on Mean Streak b/c of winter weather in Ohio and they can start Hurler later on b/c VA winter is nothing. Alternatively, since Hurler is SBNO they could finish up Mean Streak for 2017, than work on Hurler during the operating year. Finish Hurler RMC in fall 2017, open it 2018. IMO, Cedar Fair might go through a stretch of a bunch of RMC conversions like Six Flags did.
  10. I might re-ride Roar. The first time I rode it I thought it kind of blew but I'm told they did a lot of re-tracking, plus it was bad but not unbearable. After riding it labor day weekend it is definitely re-ridable. During my first ever visit to the park in 09 I was kinda like "meh", but I really enjoyed it in September. Hopefully SF will RMC Roar soon, maybe 2018.
  11. You need to go look at the annual reports of both chains and it will tell you how the parks make money differently. CF has lower attendance overall their parks, but the same revenue. CF capital investments per year have been much more than SF recently. SF debt has risen from 951M in 2011 to 1.5B in 2015 report. CF debt has been stable at 1.55B since 2011. SF has been touting their record revenue the last few years but their debt has been rising significantly. Btw, CF has had equal revenue to SF, stable debt, while making much larger capital investments. CF capital investments last 2 seasons were 170M and 150M and debt increased by 2M. SF capital investments were 108 and 114M, debt grew by 125M.
  12. B&M and they have a ton of land, 350 acres of land available for development.
  13. What coasters would you like to see RMC convert/ good candidates? Cedar Fair: Hurler 1994- Kings Dominion - SBNO in 2016 season Hurler 1994 - Carrowinds Canadian Mine Buster 1981 - CA Wonderland The Racer 1981 - Kings Island Six Flags: Monstre - LaRonde GA Cyclone 1990 or Great American Scream Machine 1973 - SFOG Roar 1999 - SFA American Eagle 1981 - SFGAm Predator 1990 - Darien Lake - needs help but likely too pricey for a them to afford
  14. Agree with not competing with CP as a concern. If they were worried about overshadowing CP coaster of the same type they wouldn't have build Banshee, which is better invert than Raptor. I disagree on KI getting a hyper next. They got a hyper in 2009 with Diamondback. Still think they need a Giga, as all of the other top CF parks have. Also, before a another hyper, a wing coaster would more useful to the KI coaster line up. Now with 3 woodies, could they RMC The Racer in the vane of Twisted Colossus.
  15. GAm is not jam packed b/c of rides to the point of no scenery, it's somewhat packed b/c of nonsense games and other junk. They have also made poor use of space and made odd decisions of placement of things. They waste a ton of space in prime areas and space in general with stuff like the Pictorium, which is utterly useless. Wait times only are bad on weekends and holidays. The park is not always packed full of people. Any weekday during the summer unless BAFF, it's short waits for everything but Goliath. Viper and Demon both need to go once SF decides to give them a new coaster. Both are well past usefulness. VR isn't saving Demon, which is just a bad and outdated coaster.
  16. Is there any trace on either the clone or the launched clone of some sort of anniversary? Don't know what you're trying to say
  17. Space is not as limited as people think. Go to Google Earth and look at the park. There is a good amount space if they utilized it better. Corporate claims 30 acres of land available for development. Then there is space poorly utilized, the glaring example is the Pictorium area. Knock down the Pictorium and utilize the space behind it going to the edge of Whizzer to Viper.
  18. Surprised by Mystic Timbers. KI is the only top CP parks without a Giga, thought that would be their next coaster. They have plenty of space. They are on about 3 to 5 year schedule about..2009 Diamondback, 2014 Banshee. 2017 Mystic Timbers, Giga..2021?
  19. 40th Anniversary is not a marquee milestone, like 25, 50th, 75th, 100, 150. Btw, what did GAm get for their 25th? They got V2 and Deja Vu. Calling GAm "one of the world's best parks" is pure hyperbolic nonsense. On Mean Streak, I expect some kind of record, CP loves to set records. Biggest hybrid drop and fastest are what I expect. On the time frame I'm going by the logic.."under promise and over deliver". They maybe aren't sure they can get it done by opening 2017 so don't announce it till you get a progress report late december. Then people won't be lambasting them if it's late.
  20. VR on Demon is a virtual disaster for ride operations. Load time per VR train on monday was over 6 minutes per train, sometimes up to 8 minutes. I waited a hr and then it didn't even work right. Headset went dark after the 1st drop. Monday was my worst day at the park all year. I was expecting it to be suboptimal and it was worse than I was expecting. I only went to activate my pass for 2017 free gold upgrade, as I never go to Frightfest b/c it's an exercise in futility.
  21. So many things wrong in that statement, especially with the Ragin Cajun notion of 'saved it to when they were going to get something like the Joker".
  22. Theme's sell...SFOT is the example they should use, rethemed several rides and chose DC names for recent addistions to build a great Gotham City Area.
  23. No. If you do this you create a DC area, now you have Justice League, Dark Knight, and Superman out of place. And this is the exact thing you're complaining about... This doesn't fix anything and is a solution to a thing that is only a problem to enthusiasts. Justice League was put out of place b/c of pure bad design. Then they tried the silly notion of the Metroplis area nonsense, which consists of 1 attraction. This would be a start to correcting horrible themed areas i the past. Mardi Gras has been essentially stripped of rides and needs retheming. They could extend consistent themes and just link previous Mardi Gras and Yankee to 1 giant DC area. Giant DC Area: Superman Dark Knight Retheme King Chaos to "Two Face" Add Zamperla Endeavor (Catwoman Whip or Lasso of Truth)to previous Mardi Gras Area Add Zamperla Hawk possibly too as it doesn't take much space Combine the above with Joker - 4D coming in 2017 Batman - V2 - paint it electric blue and call it Mr. Freeze Yankee Clipper - retheme to Penguin Slide Whilygig - relocate it to County Fair in 2018 or 19, replace with Skyscreamer themed Catwoman Whip or Wonderwoman Riddler's Revenge - Zamperla Discovery added in 2018 or 2019 in the area near the flumes/picnic area. The only DC ride out of place would be Justice League. Eventually if they takeout maybe Dark Knight in mid 2020's they could add a launch coaster extending from its' site running behind Raging Rapids. By then Raging Rapids may have run it's life cycle, so a launch coaster could take it's space with that of Dark Knight. Name the launch coaster the Flash. So 1/3 the park becomes DC Land? Yea, not happening. Also, do you think that Six Flags will shell out the extra $$$ to use ALL the DC characters? There are limits to that ya know... It's totally possible and they already have done something like it at SFOT. 7 DC themed rides in Gotham City..Batman, Batwing, The Joker, Riddler Revenge, Catwoman Whip, Harley Quinn, and Mr Freeze. It's one of the most popular areas of the park. They have 3 more DC themed rides..Aquaman Splash and Justice League both in the same area, leaving only Superman Tower not with another DC themed ride. Even the 3 rides not in Gotham City are very close by it and on the same side ofthe park. So having a large part of 1 side of the park DC themed rides is not good design and theme continuity. GP don't care. GP pays the bills. Six Flags cares about things the GP cares about. Having a DC Land won't add money to the coffers. If the GP gave a rats A$$ about themes the park would be a very different place and would have been for the past 20 years. If you want theming, go to Disney. 100% wrong. Themes sell more merchandise. The GP's are the one most likely to suck up the gift shop stuff. You take your kids once a year and you buy them all the junk on that one visit. Btw, you clearly don't understand SF's model, It's get you in the park for cheap and bleed you dry with extras. You're response is silly and a response of being shown what you said can't exist already exists..10+ rides DC themed. So you came up with the an even worse excuse about themes. Btw, if themes don't matter why has SF naming their recent 4D's, skyscreamers, Giant Discoveries after DC characters? LOL
