Nooooooooooo! corkscrew was always part of what made alton towers so much magic - that indefatigable sense of history to complement the brand spankin' new state-of-the-art stuff! and this vekoma pain machine was the thing I saw on TV that first got me overexcited at the very mention of coasters or alton towers! and this classic is gonna be scrapped? I had best get my annual visit in quick!!! well, at least this gives a greater chance of bigger better and ultimately less painful joy to come - though would they mind building in the black hole tent first? ............. please?!

AIR!!!!!

only ridden air, so not sure what the others are like, except from photo's/videos/ppls comments. from the sounds of things SUF seems to be a lil gimmiky, relying on the novelty of flying/pretzel loop, so probably good, but lower rerideability (is that even a word!?) than others. Borg looks good, would love to try it - it seems intense, and not totally smooth (i do kinda like the vekomas ive ridden - corkscrew and boomerang - rough and readys always ok by me!!!! ), but dislike the idea of lift hill backwards!!! And volare just looks like some kind of corpral punishment machine from the '70's!!! but air vs. Tatsu..... Tatsu looks fantastic, utilising that hill for greater hight effect, plus being so hifgh/fast/flying/ and GIANT pretzel-loop (i wanna ride i REALLY wanna ride!) However, air is a favorite of mine. Being an Alton-towers fan-boy (having not really been anywhere else), I hav ridden/obsessed ovr it almost a much a Nemesis!!! Ok, so u are on ur back a considerable amount of the 60 sec ride time, but arnt pretzle loops also on the back? would be much better OUTSIDE(external) pretzel loop!!!!!! plus, the whole thing Air being kinda underground, i find it feels very close to ripping off ur lil tootsies, then that amazing sense of swooping up away as the ground retracts beneath you! Ib think this poll shows alot about preference in ride experience - High, fast and hard (Tatsu) or close, atmospheric and refreshing (Air). ... thugh try riding Air as ur last coaster, on a glorius day, just as the sun is starting setting, and the park starts emptying.... its like a complete massage for body, mind and soul! (though, maybe thats just me :?)r luv bobxxx

that was a truly moving experience....a turning point in my life!! i had always thought that to make a good film u needed quality performances, a clear direction and point to put across, logical narrative, and a little technical no-how (not to mention a lil poundin) ...but ryan, you have shown me the light, and i now realise a great flim can come from the most unlikely sources - and be just plain...flippin well.....DEMENTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dude, u rocked my personal sense of well being/world!

Erinys makes a good point - you sound unhappy. i havent read this whole forum( am new, and it IS 60 pages long) but from the sounds of it you went from a pretty defi9nite, if a lil over-worried, gay guy with partner, to someone whos now either straight as a post, or just denying ALL sexual feelings whatsoever! it seems plausible you had a bad experience as a gay man, and rasther than move on and risk similar problems further down the road, you've rejected it all, to hide and protect yourself, masking it with broad statements, which may just be hollow self justification. It is most important that you are TRULY happy like this. if this really is where your heart and sioul lie, then i wish you thye very best in your new life, and am happy you have found your way. But if you arn't happy, if this is just a reaction to some harsh, unpleasant time in your life, please please PLEASE dont put up with this quick fix solution; for your sake as well as those around you whom you love. It will only lead to pain and turmoil. Find your own way, and just forget what other people think of it; if your being true to yourself, and causing no one else pain, then surely your doing whats right. r xxx

hmmmm....is allvery tangled, isnt it? To be honest, there is only one thing to add (i think, anyhoo)... If u can't enjoy life, and care what others think, ur not doing the right thing. Were here because....well...WHO KNOWS?!?!?! WHO CARES!?!?!?!? Masy as well just enjoy life and do evrything you can to help others enjoy it too! Surely that is a good thing...i mean, isnt that kinda what that jesus fella was always on about? Oh, and if I could choose my orientation..... I truly doubt id even consider homo/bisexuality, cos its such a judged and tough ( annd potentially lonely) existence. But i didnt choose. So im just gonna try to maker the best of what ive got. ihave to say that nemesis probably is my favorite ride...eva??? admitedly,im very limited in other rides, but was at alton towers today........... GOD I LOVE THAT PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yeah, so it was a lil wet at times (oblivion in the rain/sleet .... u GOTTA TRY IT), and itwas a lil chav heavy, and yeah, the quing times were screwy long times for a half empty park (nemesis 10 mins...Air 70 mihns!......... Charlie and the choc factory 2hours!!!!!!!!!!!) Hell, we rode ALLL the coasters (oblivion->rita->cCORKSCREW [ow!]->spinball->minetrain->NEMESIS!!!!->NEMESIS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!->Rita->oblivion->AIR!!!!!) - twas a fab day! Mine train rocks {it just a lot offun)-tho still i squeel on the first dive down...and almost fell out! Spinball is just so absurd itmakes me gigle and squeek (tho we ended up quing 40 mins cos sum numpty jumped into track are....had 2 b emergeny stopped) Oblivion....jyust the greatest short-sharp-shock that u culd possiblywant (from cocky brovado to overwhelming euphoria in 20 secs.....via unadulterated fear,of cours!) Rita - it makes ur whole body Zhingespeciallygd at back - real bum-seat separTION! Air....like a full body massage....just without the massage....pure heavaqn (and THE best way to end a day!) so we cum to the best and worst.... now i understaqnd ppls hate of vekomas.....BOY does it hurt if u let it....BUT, if u are aggressive qwith this ride, ie brace against it and fight it, its fab.....tho lots hard work! And then theres nemmy - - just ........so........GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the atmosphere is like nowt else....the ride dimanates u when cueing, cos u decend to its lowest levels to get on! It roars around u, and commands ur attention the lift hill aint toolong (in the whole park, the only long lift is corkscrew....yawn!) that first drop(thr was a fapb photo op 4 it as trees were bare....camera battery flat!!!!).......a true simple, pleasant start the first element....from a lovely glide, to a awsome vista.....tto an insane up-right drive over....NOTHING!!!!! THAT HELIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the roll over the station....just the counter to the helix.....euphoric and hardcore! the corner at 90degrees.......disorienting at the best of timesd The Loop....a divine dive into, scary pull up with, magnificent over the top view/feel, and then a total decent to hel after! then the swing round to the EVIL CORKSCREW ..... OF DOOOMMMM!!!!!! just cruel (and so very very kind) and suddenly ur swung at stupid speed right slam back where u started.....Fab And then theres the differernce between front and back! Tho, carriage 2 is best 4 front(sim view, no wait) ..... it looks like hell!!!!!! And the back just feels it!!!!!!! i have to say that nemesis is...just...my favoritest coaster ever, and just lookin at other coasters, i wish they were all a lil bit more like nemesis! im just a themeing whore, and hate especially when they just dump a coaster anyole place with sum random name....just seems such a waste (tho expedition everest seems like a waste in the opposite direction!!!!) addmitedly i am a total pleb as far as rides goes.....only ever bin to alton towers (every year for 5 years!!!!!!!!) and american adventure, here in Blighty! my diff coaster count is only...(counts on fingers......has to recount as missed the number "4"...).......13(???) Holy balony, how unlucky a number!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!damn, im dooooooommmmmmmmeeeed!
