  1. The last time I went to the park, it was for a couple hours on a weekday in January before I started my new job. By the time the park closed in March, I hadn't been able to go. And now, here I sit, wishing I had made that January visit a longer stay. It say a lot about my life when my biggest regret of 2020 thus far has been not going to Six Flags for longer when I still had the chance. Let's just hope that raptor shows up in 2022 because damn do I want that turnaround in the center of Metropolis.
  2. I was at the park today. It was super dead with half the rides opening around noon. I didn't realize how big the station is for WCR. The whole structure is way bigger than I was expecting. Knowing this has me expecting that it'll open in 2020 because there just still so much work to be done.
  3. So... The park is hyping Aftermath? Are they just going to open the path down to that half of the area for the maze? I hope this means Apocalypse is included!
  4. Here's some pictures of WCR as of yesterday. Rode Ninja and really wasn't expecting to get so close to its structure. It's a pretty neat interaction, honestly. The clearance envelope seems to be really, really tight. Should be really cool. It was a typical day at the park. As the signals say on the railroad's radio: "No defects. Repeat, no defects." Turns out my camera makes panoramas! High Five, Brah! Messy. Track leading in Launches 2&4 Close up. Kobe Doin' Work.
  5. I dig it. The fact that it's so low to the ground and it interacts with everything around it so much is rad.
  6. Honestly though? You're right, I would be a little butthurt if it were a family coaster. It's their 20th coaster and the self-proclaimed Thrill Capital of the World goes small? It doesn't make sense. You'd think they'd want to make it a statement of some kind, right? But... It might also make total sense to the park and I just have to accept that as a total outsider. The real question is what's coming in 2020?
  7. Ohhh ParkBros... I trust them as much as I trust a straw poll of random employees.
  8. What scares me is that they remove Roaring Rapids and don't replace any of the trees.
  9. I always figured it was just for trademark reasons, but the whole XX for 20 thing makes sense. I'm not buying that West Coast Racers is for the go karts. Why trademark the go karts when you aren't gonna be selling shirts with them on it? But I'm glad I'm not the only one on the T Rex hype train. I'm hoping for that or maybe a Mack but we'll see. If it's an S&S I demand one of those air launches (world's faster to 100?). I'm just glad it's not gonna be a spinner. Had any one of those signs been like, "Spinning into new thrills!" I would've checked out entirely.
  10. I was totally gonna post those here too but reddits easier from the phone. Up vote me! But seriously, a racer and a launcher? And what victory are they talking about?
  11. I don't think they cleared that land for a ride but possibly new buildings along the midway. I highly doubt SFMM would make their 20th coaster anything but massive. It just doesn't seem like their style. I'm also convinced the new station will be where the still-standing Deja Queue is. But whatevers going in, it's size kinda depends on the fate of Roaring Rapids. I'm just really excited to see what they do with the area.
  12. I went to the park today to check out the construction and ride a couple things. It was brutally hot so shout out to SFMMGeek27 if he was working because dear Lord I couldn't take that weather. Check out some pictures! What do you think this old random ride station will become? Jet Stream opened late, and definitely needs some love. The retail shop looks completely intact and safe... for now. Across the midway, you can see they're either replacing pieces of wood on Apocalypse or at the very beginning stages of tearing the melonfarmer out. The Great Blue Wall. Ninja's first drop looks so naked these days. The arcade is surrounded by fencing and everything around it has been reduced to dirt. It seems like the building itself is safe though. Some parks provide webcams, SFMM provides holes in their tarp! There's also some work still to be done near Crazanity.
  13. I can't handle not riding Railblazer anymore so I'm thinking of making a quick trip up to NorCal to do SFDK and CGA in a couple weeks. Can anyone recommend a hotel that's midway between the two? I don't need fancy, I just need cheap! Also, it's $133 for that all inclusive ticket (food, drinks, parking, Fastlane, Funpix which I probably won't use). Is it worth it? I feel like it's reasonable.
  14. I'm honestly surprised they tore out all those buildings in Cyclone Bay. If there's one thing I've noticed it's that this park really hates removing stuff (cf. the chunk of metro track near Crazanity, the old platform at the bottom of the hill for the transportation ride). So to see them just unceremoniously rip out buildings has me curious as to what they're about to do to that part of the park.
  15. It feels like the size of the new ride will depend on whether or not the rumors of the rapids ride closure come true. And I really hope it's anything but a spinning coaster. I really don't like those things.
  16. Hey guys! As Robb said, I was at the media event today! It was super fun and the ride is GREAT! I've never been a big flat rides guy but this might change my mind about that position. It had good positive g's to go along with some nice floater airtime. It's also insanely rerideable because it doesn't spin a whole bunch. And then they fed us! Overall, it's a great addition to a park that'd been sorely missing a flat ride like this. It's now high up on my list of top rides at the park and I can't recommend it enough. On top of that, they did a great job revitalizing the whole area from Johnny Rockets to the bathrooms over near Scrambler. Everything looks refreshed and nearly brand new after years of feeling a little unloved. Great job SFMM! About to get on! The aftermath. Glad I wasn't part of that clean up crew. Yes, that IS a funnel cake burger. Never in my life had I thought, "Gee, this funnel cake needs more meat," but it actually tasted pretty good. Lunch spread. It was pretty good! So much confetti!! You really do get some cool views of the park from up there. Haulin' buns! Neil layin' down the deets. He did a great job with his speech and seems really excited about this ride. Swallowin' Swords, stealin' hearts. They had a bunch of performers around to entertain us! For some reason, they broke out the steampunk stuff. The Sign! We made it! Just to show you how mammoth this thing is. It's way bigger in person than I expected! One last look at all the fancy new things. They did a great job with this area and I'm super excited to see what they're gonna do to Cyclone Bay!
  17. Went today with some friends. The place looked nice and had a lot of offerings for the events going on for the holiday. Hopefully it's the sign of cool things to come. We watched Crazanity do a test cycle and all I could think was "Damn that thing is huge." it's an absolutely massive ride and seeing it in person got me way more excited for it. Didn't get to stop by Cyclone Bay since I didn't see a point in taking them on Apocalypse and there's else over there anymore. We were able to hit Twisted Colossus, Goldrusher, Batman, Goliath, Riddlers Revenge, Tatsu, and X2 in about 7 relaxed hours. It wasnt that busy, I think the longest we waited was X2 which took like an hour.
  18. A user over on Reddit posted a picture of walls that've gone up in Cyclone Bay. So it begins!
  19. Do you think they'll retheme and rename the whole area or just refresh it? The whole Cyclone Bay thing never made sense since there's no body of water or boardwalk or really anything connoting a bay.
  20. I got to go on the construction tour of the CraZanity site today hosted by Neal Thurman, Sue Carpenter, and Tim Dofflow. While the ride isn't vertical yet, they have laid the foundation and are going to be starting the process soon. This is definitely a better use of this space than letting the Metro station continue to fall apart. All the parts for the ride are in the overflow lot. They've been working on everything around the ride including repainting the boardwalk games and the Johnny Rockets. They then walked us over to the refreshed bumper cars which they've renamed from Sandblasters to Jammin' Bumpers. They've repainted the ride, updated the cars, and added a fancy sound/lights package to bolster the experience. Along with that, they removed the wall along the walkway so the whole area will be more open. Last up was Scrambler which has been given a nice green and blue color scheme. They're currently adding a shade cover over the ride. I like what they're doing. It's a small but necessary step toward making the entire park more appealing, not just the major themed lands. This stretch of the park has always just been something to pass through for me but now there will actually be a reason to stop. Plus, they're opening another place that sells beer! Looking toward where the control room and operator's rooms will be. Looking toward the future site of the ride. The whole thing's gonna look even bigger with it on a hill like that. Jammin' Bumpers looking all shiny and new. They repainted the entire of the ride. A few of the cars with the new paint jobs. Rave lights have been added. They brought a car over for us to see close up and they really look great. They also redid the seats. New ride signs. "Don't call me Sandblasters!" Looking at the entrance to Jammin' Bumpers. They've still got some painting to do around the outside. I like these colors than that faded yellow the ride had had for years. Last up, they've repainted the bathroom.... ...and totally remodeled the interior! Sweet! There are getting to be fewer and fewer bathrooms at Magic Mountain that make me feel like I'm at a campground. Looking at the repainted queue area and new signage. Over this will soon be a shade structure which will be nice on those brutal summer days to come. But seriously, this whole area is looking awesome. A giant footer for the ride.
  21. 10-20? As much as I love X2, with it being as rough as it is I usually don't ride it more than once a day, twice is pushing it. I accidentally did 3 during WCB and still don't know how I survived. (Accidentally = I decided to push my luck and ride a second time, then they gave us a pass-through the station) I can't either. It's the intensity and the high odds of getting knocked around by the second raven turn.
