I've been wondering how long this theme park bubble could last in China. It seems like there have been an unsustainable amount of parks built in the last few years so I did a little research and number crunching. I really didn't grasp the numbers when I started but the fact the population of China is equivalent to the population of North America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, and all of Western Europe -- combined should have been telling. Well over half that population (691million) now live in cities. Now while I'm certainly no expert in this field I took a rough guess that a city with an urban area population of 400,000 size could easily sustain a small sized park around the level of a Fantawild (2 or 3 coasters and no more than a day out). The numbers are pretty hard to come by for China but I delved into it and there appears to be 160 cities with populations over a million and at least 500 cities with a population higher than 400,000. My list came to 661 with a population over 350,000. Now I'm pretty sure someone could do a better job than me at this but even if my calculations were fairly off we are still looking at a massive number of parks, There are just soooooooo many people. From people I know in China most of the big new parks are busy at weekends if not so much during the week (Except Victory Kindgom... No one goes to Victory kingdom ) and the Fantawilds and Happy Valleys which have good infrastructure in place are doing extremely well. And currently there's only around 20 of these. I'm pretty sure we will be seeing the number of big theme parks going up and up for many more years.

New Wanda Parks in China.
Gutterflower replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Good spot. I have no idea. The article is here http://www.wanda-cti.com/2014/latest_0527/776.html Clearly mentions Nanchang so I can only assume you are right. Not unheard of but perhaps they downsized it? That thing was massive. -

Gutterflower replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
While I also love the GCI's I've ridden Fireball is Gravity Group I'm afraid. -
Who wants yet another new park to add to the list? This time with tasty S&S launched ride? Thought so. 2 years ago at this article on coastersandmore mentioned S&S had sold a 4th launched coaster to China due to open in Guangrao in 2014. The first three are all open but the 4th one has been elusive until now. A little sleuthing now shows that this ride will be going to Sun Tzu Culture Park. The park has existed as a garden park with a small selection of rides for a while but the park closed its doors in January this year for a major refurbishment. The official site's park map lists two roller coasters under construction as Mine Coaster and Ejection Coaster as well as mentioning the Ejection ride is being built by a foreign company and will feature a launch and vertical hill. While we have no news on a layout but it shouldn't be too long before we see some construction. Added it to the front page and the official site is here http://www.china-suntzu.com/ and has info on all the rides if you can read Chinese.

Hotgo Park in Fushun China
Gutterflower replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This Gravity Group woodie is under way too The ride will have a total track length of 1,200 meters (4000ft) and a maximum speed of 94km/h (58mph) as well as featuring tunnels and at least one 90 degree banked turn. layout below Source: VHCoasters -
One of many new woodies in China this is the first of the 4 Gravity Group woodies teased at IAAPA. Slightly dissapointingly it appears to be a clone of the ride at Happy Valley Tianjin. But that ride has got some excellent reviews so It's not all bad. Ride is currently due to open in July i believe along with the rest of the new park (This is the 2nd Fantawild park at this resort) and a Vekoma Boomerang. Source: VHCoasters

New Wanda Parks in China.
Gutterflower replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
According to the Wanda site the Nanchan wooden ride (Viper revealed by GCI at IAAPA) has now begun manufacturing so hopefully we shall see this go up soon. It looks like it could be a top 10. -
Not really worth a topic of it's own but the Fantawild Dreamworld in Zhuzhou has it's GG woodie already up I think. This image was taken in November 2013 according to Google Earth Interestingly on footers alone the ride appears similar if not identical to the one recently opened at Happy Valley Tianjin.

New Wanda Parks in China.
Gutterflower replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wandas latest updates include this image (and google translated snippit) If you look really closely at the image you can see the GCI logo on the video on that projector... no idea whats going on with the actual ride pictured though. Read into it what you will as always with China. Source: http://www.wanda-cti.com/2014/latest_0513/733.html Doesn't sound final and as of yet there's no announced park for Guangzhou so sounds like its one in the pipeline. Wanda do currently have 3 open shopping malls in the province with another 6 under construction (which is insane in itself) so they have plenty of work going on there. -
Suggestions for a trip to Taiwan?
Gutterflower replied to foss123's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Leofoo is a nice little park quite near to Taipei. It's excellently themed and the quality of rides is pretty good. I managed to do Leofoo and Lihpao land from central Taipei by public transport really easily. And its arguably faster than driving with the traffic and the new bullet trains. Had no problem with any of the coasters being closed either. Gravity Max is well worth the trip for the pure terror. -
Around 8 years ago the old corkscrew coaster at Libertyland in Memphis was dismantled and shipped off to DelGrosso’s Amusement Park in Pennsylvania. The ride never opened at DelGrosso’s but was instead bought by Gloria’s Fantasy Land in the Philippines and is recently reopened as the oddly named Zimerman Corkscrew Coaster. Below are a couple of pictures during construction, I've not found any of it operating yet but there are trip reports which mention it. it’s always good to see an old ride get a new lease of life somewhere else even if it is an old corkscrew ride. New Wanda Parks in China.
Gutterflower replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So i just spilt my Tea in my lap when i found this. A while back i found a document detailing Wandas planned coasters for their new parks. One of them for the Hefei park seen above seemed a little strange and the translation came out as this I took this to mean dueling zac spins or similar. Anyway I waited to see what became of it. Today i came across some new artwork for the new Wanda park in Hefei and it shows this... Source: VHCoasters via Wanda Correct me if I'm wrong but those are Tilt Coasters right? Which looking back at that translation makes a lot more sense. Make of it what you will but this could be massively interesting. -
There was a bit of confusion between 2 parks on here which is mostly my fault. The parks are built by the same people and have the same ride lineup except for the blue fire ride. Euro Park - Qihe - Blue Fire Clone Euro Park - Penglai - No Blue Fire Clone Anyway below are some pictures of the Qihe park with the now open Blue Fire clone which the appear to have called The Battle Of Blue Fire... which is rather excellent This entrance is rather excellent too.

Having just written the China Guide for 2014 I was amazed to find there was no thread for HotGo Park. Under Construction in Fushun. One of the parks that the Gravity Group announced would be getting a new wooden coaster this park is due to open in 2015 and already has an almost completed hotel which looks to have strong disney influence. The hotel on its own is worth a thread. Originally called Fushun Dreamworld the park and hotel was designed by the Goddard Group and they have a load of images on their site. More images can be found at Rhetroactive. The park is also expected to get 3 Vekoma coasters including a launched ride, a suspended family coaster and a mine train. Fushun is already home to the insane 515ft Ring Of Life. And yes you can take a ride to the top. http://www.amusingplanet.com/2013/06/ring-of-life-515-feet-ring-of-steel-in.html

New Wanda Parks in China.
Gutterflower replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wanda have released this for the new Intamin coaster at their Nanchang Park. Wanda lists the ride as being the tallest in China which means it has to beat the 250ft of Dinoconda at China Dinosaur park. However RCDB currently lists the ride as 242.8 ft so only time will tell. Source: VH Coasters -
I lied. Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull is too good for this. Star Wars Christmas Special levels i thing Agreed 100%. Either that or a model similar to the Transport Tycoon Mobile model of paying the full price up front with a limited lite version for free. I'd have easily paid a decent amount for a port of RCT 1 or 2.

The Mystery Russian Togo.
Gutterflower replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
True those doesn't look like the normal Togo restraints, the padding may be something that the park itself have done, pipe insulation and sticky tape is a simple solution when you don't have the proper part to replace it with. The thing that strikes me most though is the similarities to the Arrow Horsecollar instead of the normal Togo one with square corners at the bottom and strange bends in the middle. Also on another note, I doubt that it's a clone by some company, since the only Togo that we know of with that strange trick track at the end is King Kobra and it was in the US so no Chinese company could have copied it. If it's not the late King Kobra with new trains, then the only two known Togo coasters that it could be would be the unknown indoor loopers at the defunct parks: Fantasy Dome Seiro and Fantasy Dome Kishiwada. BTW, how do you know that the ride was built in 2002? We don't that's just its first sighting. Its possible its been there longer its just difficult to tell. Sky Rider at Canadas Wonderland also has the trick track but the point stands. I think its highly unlikely its King Cobra since it was sat in storage at KI for so long. But It is possible its one of the Fantasy Dome rides (I've looked them up before with no luck, Found a video of the non looping one at the other Fantasy Dome but that's it). Also possible its an original installation. I guess we'll never actually know without someone at Togo to ask. Just thought it was an interesting ride though -

Someone pointed out that King Kobra at Kings Island closed in 2001. This rides first sighting was 2002. Is there a possibility it's the same ride? just with new cars.
