Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

Honestly if the only major addition for 2025 is Winterfest I’d probably actually be pretty happy. I miss Holiday in the Park. PS: If Cedar Flags has any idea of what is good for it they’d make all Halloween events ‘Fright Fest’ and all Christmas events ‘Winterfest’. They go together perfectly. -

This is pretty typical of Cedar Fair. They don't require that parks open new attraction every year - Six Flags did. Both companies allocate a certain amount of money for capital improvements though. Cedar Fair parks tended to announce things like new restaurants and other assorted updates more like January-February. That WOULD be something I'd love to see at SFStL. An overhaul of the menus in general and at least one more decent-sized sit down restaurant. Mooseburger could be removed and something not unlike Lazy Bear Lodge/The Farmhouse/Grand Pavillion/Miami River Brewhouse could be built in its place. With the attention to food quality Cedar Fair has had and a nice new eatery like that we could really be in for a treat. And this is exactly the kind of thing we wouldn't know about until the new year. PS: Cedar Fair parks have also commissioned custom beers from local craft breweries. I would LOVE if SFStL ended up doing this - they have a large number of breweries to choose from. -

A B&M dive, even a small one, costs considerably more than an RMC Iron Horse. -

BTW there's precedent for Six Flags St Louis cutting supports down on relocated rides to make them fit on literally the same exact hill back there. Flashback's lift supports were shortened to install Boomerang in that location - Chang's post-lift turnaround supports could receive the same treatment to make the placement I mocked up possible. Ryan the Ride Mechanic theorizes that there MIGHT be a part that B&M sources from a third party that has had the manufacturing tolerances loosened and that's creating the recent B&M rattle problem. He especially arrived at this theory learning that renovated OLD trains are seeing the same kinds of issues the new builds are. Green Lantern may be in that boat - it's received new assemblies that aren't built to the spec B&M originally intended. -

Floorless trains cost more money. They’d totally not do that -

It might work. There are plenty of other parks that might need it too though. The parking lot is flat too ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -

With rain in the forecast they might not have wanted to risk it being unable to climb the hill near Thunder River. I know Tommy G has recently received plenty of work so I'm not sure how much needs to be done to restore some power. I'd say they could consider a diesel or electric rig for use during the most challenging conditions but that could easily lead to them using only that one because it's just easier. -

Local head chefs with power over the menu can certainly use local chains to quickly jump start a refresh. That's not the case at KI though the Skyline location in park goes back for years. Not sure if Primo's kitchen is able to serve Pasta House quality though. It could pull Imo's off. But ultimately they may prefer their own twists on local favorites. -

A Vekoma Wildcat (Fønix) looks like it'd fit in the Ninja plot of land. It's a slim layout that should be able to run behind Chop Six with Axis perhaps having to be the only casualty (if that). That said I was only looking at the land - without knowing the EXACT positioning because there's nothing there yet to actually look at in satellite imagery. The land used at Cedar Point is a different shape than the Ninja plot. I may be incorrect about the Tilt not fitting though. According to Vekoma the Cliffhanger layout is 164ft x 460ft. Based on those dimensions that actually should fit where Ninja is. That was also supposedly the model Energylandia purchased and appears to match the renders. That actually JUST BARELY fits in at Cedar point. I thought I saw that too. Either way I don't expect anything other than service and infrastructure updates. Should simplify the process of getting something like a head chef hired though. -

That Tilt model was manufactured for flat(ish) ground. It also seems to be going into a plot of land around 200ftx300ft. The dimensions don't work in the Ninja location - no matter what multiple buildings would need to disappear for it to work. If Cedar Flags expects to improve the entertainment in the park - which is a weak area especially compared to Cedar Fair parks - then they can't afford to lose Empire Theater and that along with Chop Six would almost certainly have to go. And the park can ill-afford to lose indoor seated restaurants. The Tidal Wave location can work but it isn't big enough on its own. Once you start leaving that immediate location the areas around it aren't particularly flat - but there is empty space. It's not impossible but it's a more challenging location. The reality is Cedar Point already had a flat empty plot that happened to fit the model. Add to that it's a North America record, and potentially a FIRST depending on when COTAland gets theirs built, I think it's a no-brainer to send it to Cedar Point. As for RMC Boss: Cedar Fair is kind of a diva when it comes to rides. If they run into any trouble with them, even prototypes, they decide to blacklist entire manufacturers at a drop of a hat. They disliked Intamin so much they even avoided using them for replacement parts for Intamin rides they already had (which according to the Ohio TTD accident report was likely a reason for that accident). Cedar Fair appears to be convinced that RMC is worthy of being on their blacklist - given the fact that Cedar Flags is the entire Cedar Fair management team I'd expect their blacklist to continue. RMC Boss might now be off the table despite the obviousness of it - and its structural shortcomings might make it a poor candidate for Gravity Group to use precut on it. -

Six Flags St Louis is probably going to have some behind the scenes updates in 2025. Chief among them getting a competent local management team in place. Zero parks should be sharing presidents. Not even tiny ones. Supposedly there are multiple job openings for head chefs across the chain but I don't know if this park is one of them - IMO this would be one area where job sharing IS acceptable for a year as Cedar Flags attempts to set up a management team. Great America's head chef could temporarily oversee the STL menu for a year. I'd expect improvements to how the park approaches staffing in line with what happens at Cedar Fair parks, even before management is fixed, and a focus on park appearance. Cedar Fair also has a history of announcing restaurant changes later than other things - so if anything like that was happening we wouldn't know yet. -

It's pretty wild riding it too. Positive Gs at the bottom of every swing. Great sense of the speed as it swings too. And the airtime when it's really moving is great. It's big boy Spinsanity. There's even a fog effect they activate for the final few big swings (that I'm sure will not be maintained for more than a couple years). -

I dunno they might still get the funhouse in action this year. They're getting the framing up inside and most of the other stuff they've installed has been prefab - the elements inside might be prefab too so they'd just need to go in when the walls are finished. Found on Facebook: -

Supposedly electricians went on vacation which has delayed powering up the ride and moving in to testing. Everything else looks like they could get the ride ready in just a few days. Exception is the funhouse. That still looks a ways off. But as I previously mentioned here there’s a path to bypass it in that site plan so they can open the ride without it. -

One by one the legacy Six Flags parks appear to be announcing today the Cedar Fair chaperone policy is being implemented. They haven't gotten to STL yet but it's likely a matter of time. -

Multiple parks are running their teaser campaigns for 2025 right now. I wouldn't expect anything here big enough to tease, I guess is my point. -

I’ve ridden it multiple times. As for merger effects the investor presentation stated that cost savings will be realized within 2 years and operations improvements should improve numbers within 3 years. -

I think there’s three levels. The off-season parking level that is lowest when there’s zero water in the ride and they’ve locked it out. The operating position that it seems to be in right now (but there’s no water). And then loading. I could be wrong though and it’s just 2 levels. Either way it’s not in an operable state right now. As for the carousel the horses and carriages install quickly. So what we’ll want to watch for is the completion of the overhaul of the rest of the ride that we can see right now. -

I think it’s pretty clear the ride hasn’t been repainted or rewrapped since it was installed.
