Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread
Mikxy replied to the_rock401's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, screamscape has a couple rumors floating around, and we know that they are known for alot of their rumors to be true. I really think 2017 could possibly be an amazing year for VF. Well, I hope. -
Hello, all. I'm typing this report because I have just heard some news about a new theme park to be built in Virginia, only half an hour away from where I live. I am quite excited and with my new Canon camera, I am going to try and get some pictures! I have a friend who is very close with the people building it, and he is a pilot, and owns a plane. Maybe, I can get some construction views... Stay tuned! Mike Jorgson 1981 [i am starting a new theme park, that starts in the 80's. Give suggestions and enjoy.]

This is a pretty old one, but Valleyfair does hire as young as 14. (Depends on birthdate as well.) They follow the labor laws set by the state of Minnesota. You may be able to work at 14 years old but will have restrictions (Some may be silly, but it's the law.). I worked for the park for 5 total seasons and loved every year. Was in rides for two seasons as a ride operator at Steel Venom, then made a change to admissions. In admissions I started as an associate my first year then promoted to Team lead then again to supervisor my 2nd year. Last season was my last season for the park and was a supervisor of admissions (Guest Services / Call Center). Loved my job and have thought about going back, but I am looking for more advancement opportunities elsewhere currently. Mikxy, you will have a great time in admissions. I know when I was there, I tried to have fun and make the job enjoyable. Even on the not so nice weather days at the park. If you ever have any questions or need some advice, I am available to help out and give my suggestions. Make sure to read the manuals for the positions that you are trained in. (I revised them and wrote quite a bit of it since it wasn't done in years.) They really are there to help you and give you the best way to get the job done. Also be sure to use your Team Leads. They have all worked the positions before and know what they are talking about. I am sure you will have a great summer and might just see you at the park. (I still am good friends with all the leadership in admissions and plan to stop in a few times this year.) Thanks so much! -

Awesome! Good luck! Try to make sure you get all of your paperwork and shtuff when you go in for processing, which is coming from the person who never has the right papers and apparently was one of the first rides leads to turn in paperwork (embarrassing, BUT THE SEASON CANT COME SOON ENOUGH).... Thankfully I think they moved a bunch of stuff online this year! Thanks! It's so much paperwork and is a bit confusing. -

I put it on my application, they told us to say our name and what job we were interviewing for. I didn't say anything I wouldn't accept and I think I have a pretty good shot at admissions, but I don't know tbh. Hopefully I get the job so I can save up for a car to buy when I'm 16, then apply for ride attendant and drive myself. -

Well I interviewed today and I think it went great! I've never been so close with Renegade before, and that axis road was pretty cool. Does anyone know how long it usually takes to hear back if you got the job or not? -

I'll be going to an interview at Valleyfair soon! Very excited except I look alot younger than I sound, so I am a bit nervous that someone might make a rude comment. If I do get the job, then that would be my biggest fear as well, being embarrassed and insulted in front of a bunch of people. I mean I'm already young to work there but it doesn't help that I'm 5,1 and I look like an eleven year old. -
Your First B&M Coaster?

Mine was Patriot, and I am no longer a B&M Virgin! I love their rides but Patriot is the only one I have ridden, lol. -

We are currently working on something sure to knock your socks off! Hint: It will drive you absolutely crazy -
I'm very angry right now. Cedar Fair claimed that Valley Fair and Carowinds would be big "Growth parks", and Valleyfair got some water slides and is now getting a little kid flat ride, while Carowinds gets Fury 325 last season, and is now getting Carolina Harbor and more. Cedar Point is getting Valravn, which isn't surprising, but ugh. I wish Valley Fair would get a new coaster already, their most recent coaster is Renegade which is from 2006/2007. It's has almost been 10 years and they haven't added much. Route 76 was relocating 2 rides, opening 1 that had just closed, and opening a new ride. Not that that isn't a good expansion, but they are in desperate need of a coaster, along with Michigan's Adventure.

True, MIA and Valleyfair both could use some flats but for sure need a new coaster soon. -

I know they are looking for more, I'm just saying I hope they put some at VF. -

I sure wish they would send a top scan or something to WOF because that is one of the very few Cedar Fair parks I can actually visit, but if I am hired for the 2016 season I will get passes to the parks so I will be going much more. I hope they continue their search and put some good flats in at Valley Fair! They could put a nice troika or something in Wild Thing's turnaround. -

Sorry, I forgot to quote. I turn 14 on the 19th but I am applying this weekend, will it still allow me to apply? Also remember these parks are trying to fill upwards of 2000-3000 seasonal positions. Depending on the size of the park. If you fill out your application properly, double check spelling, etc. (Please use correct spellings of words on applications and not internet or text shorthand, you're* for example not ur*)And do well on your phone interview (this will more then likely be how you'll be interviewed the first time) you really shouldn't have much to worry about. Not saying they hire every person they interview, but with that many positions to fill your chances of being hired are pretty high. If you do a phone interview one bit of advice is to go to a room that's nice and quiet. I was always turned off a little by people I couldn't hear or understand, you also don't want anyone coaching your answers. That was always a no for me if I heard someone in the background telling a person what to say. And don't be afraid to say it's a bad time to do a interview if it is, for example if you're out with family or at church, just ask to reschedule, you won't offend anyone by being open and honest. Trust me, I'm no idiot like so many people my age. Yes, I use an iphone and other modern technologies, but I don't let them consume me. I would cringe at any application that had "ur" or "k" in it. -

Does anyone know if I will be hired for admissions? My father thinks that since it is my first season I'll be put in park services. I am very sociable and I would love to get to talk to so many people every day, because I talk too much in school. Getting paid to do it would be great! I'd also love to make people's days great because valley fair deserves happy guests. -

100 days? More like 100 days of torture! I can't wait for the opening and hopefully I will be working!
