Disney Line Jumping policy
Jason82807 replied to Jason82807's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Even the fast passes have lines, and people cut in them. We are perfectly fine with managing the heat and our bladders while waiting in line. I felt like I was being attacked because it seems like you don't even want this topic discussed here. Again, I'm not here to debate Disney line policy, just to find out what it is. Disney's website does not mention their policy on line jumping. -
Disney Line Jumping policy

BTW everyone on this discussion board is in agreement on line etiquette. Why does it seem like I'm being attacked more by the people who agree with me than the people who disagree with me? -

I'm only asking to settle a debate I was having with other Disney fans. -
Disney Line Jumping policy
Jason82807 replied to Jason82807's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree. It should be common sense but I've met/talked to several people who don't see it that way. I wish Disney would issue a definitive statement on it. -
I couldn't find a definitive statement on this anywhere else. Does anyone know what Disney's policy on line jumping is? It was my assumption that saving spots is not allowed, and if you leave the queue line for any reason you may not re-enter to meet up with your party except at the very back of the line. Can anyone confirm or clarify this?

I rode Goliath at SFGAM in 2014 on its second day of public operation. The posted wait time was 2.5 hours. Actual wait time was about 4 hours due to 2 separate delays. A dishonorable mention goes to Top Thrill Dragster at CP. A little bit of wind or rain will shut it down, and valleying is common. It is also frequently down for mechanical issues. It shut down once when I was on the train and once when I was next in line. I've never ridden it without waiting out any down time, including twice when using the fast lane plus.

If you buy the flash pass. I recommend skipping the water park so you can make the most use of your flash pass. If you don't get the flash pass, it would be very difficult or impossible to do all the major coasters and the water park in one day. Wait times for major coasters will be about an hour, probably more for Goliath and v2 (I recommend skipping V2 as it's a low-capacity ride with a slow moving line). Weather is really the #1 factor you have to be concerned with. If the weather is nice, or even decent, the park will be packed. If the weather is cold and rainy, you may be able to ride most coasters with very little or no wait. Of course, get there early as possible to make the most of your time.

I agree with almost everything you said. The state of the park is a result of the fact that the CEO, CFO, and a few other executives aren't from a theme park background. They're here to maximize the companies profits, which is what they are doing. In contrast, if you look at the background of CF's executives, you'll see that nearly all of them have dozens of years of experience in this industry. I'm longing for the day when SF finally gets a CEO that previously worked in the industry. Which probably won't happen anytime soon considering they just had their best quarter in history. I don't see why making money and improving efficiency and service have to be mutually exclusive. If the food operations can cut down on the time it takes to serve each guest, labor costs would be lower and guest satisfaction would be higher.

I also agree that even though Six Flags is profitable, Six Flags loses money on the majority of guests (maybe 70%), who are regulars, buy season passes and dining passes with free parking and go very frequently and rarely spend any money in the park. However, they make so much money off the other 30% of guests (who pay near-full price for tickets, parking, food, and maybe flash passes) that they're still profitable. Six Flags won't change their strategy until the non-regulars boycott, thus forcing the season pass holders (including myself) to pay their fair share.
-
They may be making money but financial reports are a lagging indicator of how the park is really doing. Gradually, people will realize that even though the season passes and dining passes are cheap, there is a point where no price is cheap enough to justify the one hour waits for fast food or 2.5 hour waits for coasters. I agree they should raise the price of the season passes and dining passes, make soda self-service and maybe have soda included in the ticket price so the food service employees can concentrate just on food. I was there on Halloween 10/31 and Sunday 11/1 and the only reason I renew my Six Flags season pass is because of those rainy days like Saturday that keeps people away and max 20 minute waits for coasters and less than 5 minute waits for food. Also, instead of giving free unlimited admission for the rest of the current year when you buy a season pass for the following year, they should do what Cedar Fair does and only give you one day in the current year to go for free.

Flash pass at six flags
Jason82807 replied to acemachine's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Regardless of which level of flash pass you choose, you really need to have a plan to make the most of your time and money when using the flash pass. Map out everything you want to do. Once you've passed the Flash Pass checkpoint for your first ride, you should immediately make the reservation for your second ride. You can enter the Flash Pass line at or after your reservation time, just not before, so you won't lose your reservation if you're late. -

I really like Magnum XL 200 but the last 3 bumps only add unnecessary roughness. -
Flash pass at six flags
Jason82807 replied to acemachine's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've done the Platinum flash pass at Magic Mountain and Gold at Great America. The wristband for Platinum at Great America allows you to immediately re-ride any ride (except Goliath), and obviously the wristband can't be transferred and they always check for the wristband if you're re-riding, but you don't need the wristband just to use the flash pass line and not re-ride. So if you bought one Platinum flash pass and shared it, you can take turns using the flash pass line, but only one person would get re-rides. I would recommend getting 2 gold flash passes and taking turns with it. -
Saving places / re-entering the line
Jason82807 replied to LuminousAphid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A better way to deal with line jumpers is to take video and report them to security. I tried the non-assault Human Wall tactic at Raging Bull at SFGAm. They got kicked out, but so did I. -

You should never be able to have your space saved. Last September at Disneyland and Knotts the line jumpers were out of control. One family of about 8-10 weaseled their way past. Another actually apologized as he was cutting, but continued to cut. -
Flash pass at six flags

The Gold flash pass would be the best for sharing because of the wristband issue with platinum. You can add people to your flash pass but it's no cheaper than if everyone got their own Flash Pass. Also, the prices of the Flash Passes change frequently. Great America charges $140 for Platinum this Saturday but only $110 for Sunday. -
I'm planning to go to Great America this Saturday 10/31. Does anyone know if they still do early entry for Gold season pass holders? Park opens at 11:00 am but if I recall correctly gold pass holders can enter an hour early to ride Goliath, but I'm not sure if they're still doing it for Fright Fest.
