  1. You would think that Hurricane Harbor wouldn't garner as much attention as a new 4D dark ride but you'd be shocked at how crowded it can get sometimes The line for Bonzai Pipelines last Wednesday was pretty insane actually
  2. Am I the only one that seems to forget that Supergirl was even part of JL:BFM at all? She's not really seen or heard at all throughout the whole ride
  3. It is? Sweet! Glad that it's back up as its temporary closure had a lot more people talking than I had expected
  4. Just waiting for a part from Intamin from what I've heard
  5. Funny thing actually, I actually had really taken this with a grain of salt, but there were a few guests today behind me in the overflow queue line for JL:BFM that were on the subject of superheroes discussing different things and then eventually (this seriously got my attention, being someone whos not big on rumors)one of the guys was talking about how they somehow heard that that 4D Free Fly coaster in the survey we all took (well, some of us if you're on the E-mail mailing list) would be coming to St Louis, and would be themed after DC's Green Lantern apparently? I dont believe it that much still, as they could have been full of crap but theres that possibility and it seemed like they could have been in the loop of things one way or another. Still, take it with a grain of salt, but it's curious to have a recurring rumor like that. Im just wondering, if it is true, where it would go? Around this time last year is when the park issued out the statement that Scooby Doo would be replaced, and had it advertised to get your last ride, so if it is true (and it still could be a bunch of nonsense), it doesnt seem Tidal Wave is being removed as quickly as I had thought, and it's obvious now that Ninja could stay for possibly another 3-5 years because even today it was eating up crowds. Take it all as you will, but weve only got about a month and a half until 2016 announcements! If something is leaving, expect signs to pop up soon.
  6. Also, here's some broken down Mr Freeze goodness. This happened right as we were exiting today Broken down on the brake run?
  7. Today wasn't a very good day to be at the park I'd say I went with some of my family for the Bring a Friend Free promotion for being Season Passholders, and the park was jam-packed with people. Maybe not as bad as it has been in the past, but I waited in line for Battle for Metropolis for 75 minutes, 3 minutes after the park opened. But, I have to say, my first real life impressions for that ride werent very good for someone who was as excited to get on as I was Heres what happened in full length, the whole story So we waited around an hour until I got inside Cyborg's Lab, and I noticed his eyes and helmet lights weren't working at all, and some of his audio was flickering a bit at times. Nothing bad, I was just excited to get on the ride for my first time. Right as soon as I get in however, they announce on the speakers that they're experiencing technical difficulties, as our A.R.G.U.S. RTV (real name of the vehicles, constructed by A.R.G.U.S., a DC Comics government agency that is co-run by Amanda Waller, a character who will be in next August's Suicide Squad movie) had frozen in place on the track. They asked if we wanted to sit until maintenance fixed the problem, and before they even came it started going. So we're inside, we get to the first scene, and we see that the screen is dramatically more dimmed than I had ever seen it, making it hard to see, unless this is how the actual screens are, but judging by all the videos I had seen, I doubted it. After that, Joker didn't even say 'Follow me Justice League team members, if you can keep up!' it just rolled up straight to him, and after he said his line, the laighing gas came out, and the fire effect burst out as well (yes, it worked) Inside LexCorp, the fog screen LexBots didn't work either, and the barrels fell behind us When we got to the part with Flash spinning around, the screen actually froze and made a beeping sound and started playing again behind us as we left the scene The part that didn't even work almost 50% was the final scene, our RTV didn't move at all, like AT ALL, and we were shooting and shooting but nothing was registering HEY BUT AT LEAST THE SCORE SCREEN WORKED AM I RIGHT Overall, this was extremely dissapointing for everyone, and I think Six Flags is ruining their reputation by letting a seeming world-class ride falter so much, and it's only been a little over a month since it's opened. It's probably the most ridiculous thing I've seen happen in years, and I've been going to the park over and over since June of 2008, and I've seen it grow, but there's no excuse for having almost none of the effects work inside the ride, as well as all of the screens noticably extremely dimmed down. Get it together, Six Flags St Louis. I know I sound like a savage madman over here but like it was almost a waste to wait so long for a barely functioning dark ride that's construction I've watched daily since it's announcement. I'll be back in August, and I really hope that I can ride it again and have it be completely different as what it was before. Quite frankly, it's embarrassing. It's already got a bad reputation as it is overhearing park guests saying it's a mixed bag every time you ride and all that Look, I hate to rant about this because my home park will hold a special place in my heart as long as I live but right now I'm one seriously dissapointed customer I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and say it was a bad day for the ride or something but still, if it's that badly glitches up, it shouldn't be operating that day.
  8. I can't believe T.O.P. is still closed. I wonder what's wrong with it?¿
  9. So as of now, the rides that remain closed are: Marvin the Martian: Camp Invasion Yosemite Sam Tugboat Tailspin Highland Fling -Superman: Tower of Power Other than Marvin, which I know is waiting on a part, and Highland Fling which was receiving a refresh, what's the status on the other rides?
  10. Now that JL:BFM is finally finished (YESS ) What exactly around the park is still being worked on other than the Palace Theater? And how's the Palace refurbishing going? I'm just excited to see my home park finally get the attention and beauty it has always needed
  11. Something that I noticed while watching and comparing the SFOT version of JL:BFM to the SFSTL version via last month's construction tour, it seems to be right in the fact that there is more detail and more space in our version. When you're going into LexCorp in the SFOT version, you go in, you see Lex's hologram, there's a fog screen straight ahead, and then falling barrels, but in the SFSTL version, you actually go into LexCorp, there's a large computer with multiple different screens on it (only for theming and not to shoot at unless shooting at them can give you points like the multiple easter eggs in SFOT's version) and then after that there's a long stretch of track before you even make it to the barrels at all. So much extra space probably adds some narrative strength which'll probably make St Louis' version the better one honestly. Even at the large curved screen at the end scene with the chase on the streets, there seems to be more space in that area which will most likely add to the realism and also the immersion too Plus, our Hall of Justice looks far better I also think that the Superheroes V Villains gift shop after the exit will be better than the one at Six Flags Over Texas considering that there's a concrete path that attaches it to both Shazam and JL:BFM, and all being in the DC Comics Plaza area too makes it that much cooler that this ride will be the center piece of my favorite area of the park Battle for Metropolis is such an amazing ride at SFOT and I can't wait until we get an even better version here!
  12. I'm so happy to see that they didn't keep the sides the way they were. Did they do painting on the back too by any chance? Kinda where American Thunder is
  13. I've gotten a few emails from our local news stations for contests to be one of the first to ride on media day. Those emails are saying this Friday, May 22. Ah, really? If so I'm surprised they haven't come out with any news regarding when it's opening

  15. Those lamp posts look kinda out of place next to cool LED signage but I love it! Can't be too long until it actually opens which makes me wonder what the reason behind the postponed opening day is considering the facade is basically 100% finished as well as the interior. Unless there are some finishing touches to be done first? Not entirely sure but I'd rather have them take time to get everything right than open the ride hoping everything works and then have like shutdowns and things like that
  16. Actually, this is my biggest gripe about SFStL: the park theming, such as it is, ranges from inconsistent to random to totally nonexistent, and it really detracts from the experience. I know that it's because it's an old park that grew organically and without any long range planning, and with no budget available to renovate and make things consistent from place to place in the park, but it still bugs me. I went to Universal Orlando two months ago and while the rides are way more big budget than SFStL, the thing that really made the experience was the overall theming. Wherever you went, the part of the park you were in made sense with regard to the ride, store, or restaurant in front of you. None of that "Pandemonium in the middle of the English section of the park" (and really, what makes that part of the park "English"? The wooden buildings?) Six Flags has individually themed rides, but nothing about the placement of anything is done to create a cohesive experience. For instance, you've got Ninja right across from the two Batman-themed rides, along with a Chinese restaurant, a hamburger place (Johnny Rockets) and a giant basketball game. Absolutely none of these things have anything to do with each other. And then there's that mysterious "Studio Backlot" sign on the train bridge leading to the aforementioned area, even though there is no "Movie Studio" theming whatsoever to be seen anywhere other than that one sign and two stores that have "studio" in the name. Why is that sign even there? At least with JLBFM opening, there will be two rides across from each other that bear some relationship to each other, since before, Mr. Freeze and Scooby Doo certainly didn't. This doesn't mean that the rides are any less fun, but there is absolutely nothing about SFStL that says "here I am at a theme park!" This is because there is no theme. It's mostly a random collection of rides, and I'm not knocking the rides, because they actually are lots of fun for a lower-budget park, and I am certainly hoping that JLBFM will live up to Six Flags' selling it as a Universal/Disney quality ride (I still find it hard to believe that Six Flags spent the money to live up to what I saw at Universal Orlando, but I'm definitely willing to reserve judgment.) But even with this hopefully fantastic new ride, it's just one more individual experience that is not part of a cohesive whole. And frankly, I don't know how this problem could be fixed. Well I mean, the same could be said for any other part of the park except for DC Comics Plaza. I think DC Comics Plaza will now be the highlight area of the park, and probably the best themed too. Just think about what's in there now. Justice League: Battle for Metropolis - Speaks for itself, massively themed DC Comics extravaganza featuring characters like Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Cyborg, The Flash, Aquaman, Brainiac, Lex Luthor, and the Joker and probably even more Justice League HQ - Entirely Justice League themed store, not much more to be said Mr Freeze Reverse Blast - Mr Freeze has some neat theming with Snowy's Ice Cream being a real place within the DC Comics Universe as well as all the entire interior being pretty nicely themed with all the fake frost and freezing chemical canisters and all that Shazam - Just your typical scrambler ride but is themed after the DC Comics superhero of the same name and now exits through the same shop as JL:BFM Superheroes V Villains - Store entirely themed to DC Comics stuff, is the exit to both Shazam and JL:BFM From that, there's not a single thing that breaks the theme besides the BBQ restaurant which doesn't take too much away anyways (used to be Villains HQ which I don't get why they changed it but whatever I suppose) SFSTL is pretty good at theming in that area, I don't see why they can't make an increased effort to do the same in the other sections of the park
  17. I aplogize if I'be skipped over something on a previous thread page but has SFSTL actually announced opening day for JL:BFM? I know Six Flags Over Texas is opening theirs on May 23 but I haven't heard that much about it over here.
  18. I belive Dave Roemer at some point expressed disinterest regarding Larson Loop flat rides and said he didn't want to see one be put in, don't quote me on that though. Im sure we all would rather have like something other than that. Plus im sure the park has heard our 'signature steel coaster plz' requests for a while and probably have that somewhere on their list of additions to consider. People always say it's tedious as crap to put 'new steel coaster' and 'six flags st louis' in the same sentence but my gut says it'll happen in the next 5 years or so if not 2016. We'll just keep hoping! I always thought a Green Lantern themed B&M Hyper would be a dream. People have mentioned also an S&S 4D coaster and honestly that wouldn't bother me too much. Take out Ninja, you've got a perfect plot of land there.
  19. Sweet! It's full steam ahead with JL:BFM! I'm still really interested at how the path from the exit into Superheroes v Villains will work as it feels really cool to have Shazam, Battle for Metropolis, and the gift shop all connected. Maybe there will be some sort of theming or fencing added? Time will tell I guess. Also, fingers are still crossed the side of the ride building will be treated to as previously mentioned
  20. Was anyone able to snag a pic of the Hall of Justice this past weekend? I'm curious as to how it looks
  21. Heard on a radio station that there's going to be some sort of sweepstakes to ride JL:BFM on the 22MD before anyone else as a kinda VIP event apparently Sounds kinda cool! ^-^ I think all interior construction is complete now All that needs to be done is the facade and a couple last details and thematic elements in the queue and stuff like that
  22. Is there gonna be any kind of lighting on the facade? Kind of a random question but it seems like it'd be an awesome thing to see at night during Fright Fest or just as it gets darker
  23. Those doors on the side of the building are new I'm pretty sure or at least freshly painted considering one is the exit of the ride so I'm sure they won't keep it that way. It would look very grossly mixed with a fresh new Hall of Justice and then rotting wood and vegetation on the side
