  1. I agree. This is a good time to go line Wise but it's generally a time where everyone just isn't taking a trip down unless you're like me and live 2 hours away. We may take a trip to see Luminights, or may just wait for Smoky Mountain Christmas. I was also thinking, they are probably going to use the "pond" from RB for the glow maze, but I'm just wondering, that couldn't be the only thing they're going to use that spot for? I mean I really hope they put in an actual attraction and not just use it for spare space to use for festivals.
  2. Save Lightning Rod for last, it's the most intense Dollywood has. Not sure if it would do anything to you being loops are what effect you, but I've went from Lightning Rod to TT and TT seems like weak. So last time I went I skipped LR first so I could experience TT's intensity without my body expecting LR's level.
  3. In my 15 rides on LR since November how many times have I had to dodge cellphones or flying quarters? About 6 times. The cellphones have flown out on the wave turn, and although it was cool because it floated it in the air for a bit before coming towards my face. I've also seen them fly out many times on the quad down and the non inverted half loop which is when the ride had to be closed for an hour because the phone actually got crunched between the train and the brake fins lol. The quarter incident made it look like bolts flying off the train but it was on the 90 degree top hat. Just out of her back pocket and up in the air they went. Plus if you've ridden LR you know that's a point in which is an "OH SH*T" moment anyway.
  4. Well today River Battle closes. I wonder what will take the place of it? Or wonder when we will hear an announcement?
  5. Speaking of LR. This is a comparison of the launches, one from May 2016 and one from today. Has the launch been brought back to normal speed?
  6. And this is the correct way to use social media. My frustration comes not from the platforms (well, a little from the platforms but they are getting better) but from the hordes of idiots that use them. Many of YOU have the choice to ignore those idiots but from my side of things it's much more difficult. This is also why we block so many people from our social media pages in an attempt to make our socials slightly higher quality for the people who appreciate them! So Robb, will we see you on LR sometime soon in a reverse POV? Would love to see your reactions and see that angle (the view of the riders) while on the coaster. I've ridden it 15 times now and each is like my first. It doesn't get old.
  7. I agree, is what I'm wondering is will they start with the path under fire Chaser up that road and up behind TT's overbank? I mean that's an incline, and as far as making it accessible for wheelchairs and elders without disturbing the ground FC sits on makes me thing. Yes they can cut right through the hill across from RB, go diagonally with a low grade slope and get there. I just don't know how confident I am in them putting a huge attraction up in that field at the train loop. Would they want to disrupt that farmland-esque setting with a Smoky Mountain View? I feel like a lot of changes are coming, but I honestly can't see where. I watched a recent (as in today) interview with Wes Ramey about Luminights. He spoke on Luminights, LR, and at the end the interviewer asks "I hear things aren't completely out of the box just yet and you all have a 10 year plan to add every year which is great" and Wes smiles and replies "No we still have some time between now and December and as you've noticed we didn't announce anything for next year....yet, so"
  8. So now that we know RB is closing the week after next, what would fit in its footprint realistically? Also looks like Dollywood is trying to subtly reply to everyone that's upset by the removal. One woman actually said "go ahead and put in another roller coaster that puts the lives of others at danger". I just rolled my eyes.
  9. To me River Battle was cool when it first opened, because it was packed with people. Now it just kinda is..ehh. Like we walk past it every time and watch Wild Eagle drop from the lift and we will occasionally get sprayed if anyone is on but to participate? I'm not gonna take all my energy to crank those things to get a tiny bit of water. If they put more water out with less force it would be ok, but I'll stick to slidewinder, DDF, and rampage. So now I guess we wait for an announcement?
  10. I heard that on my last ride. Well it's always played the whistling of the winds from a tornado but it was more distinct this ride and I liked that. True Dollywood people notice these things haha. What did you hear? I like how Dollywood is growing as well, and I like how we are getting these well deserved big coasters and attractions. Most of your older people want Dollywood to still be like it was when all they had was BF and Thunder Express. I think is what would help with the charm of DOLLYwood is to honestly bring back and play more of her music. Like during the summer only play modern country during the night/close to the fireworks. Hearing Dollys songs in the summer brings that charm you're talking about. Which craftsmens valley hasn't really changed at all. They still play bluegrass.
  11. So Cedar Point announced Steel Vengance which is the fastest hybrid, SDC announced Time Traveler which is the tallest and fastest spinning coaster, with also a 90 degree drop and a vertical loop. Dollywood has the worlds fastest wooden coaster, I wonder what's next for the park? I'm still curious what could be closing and what could be going in its place. I mean that 10 year plan was to add something every year. So I don't see them skipping a year, they had 300mill to spend. Also I think the rise in food and ticket prices has turned some people away lately. I mean the days I went the lots were backed up D/E and F. Though lines weren't too bad. People see the star attraction is diwn so they think "hey let's skip out on that this year and do the beach". I don't think the fire is hurting them anymore, and I say that because Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, etc are doing well. Especially the Island and the alpine coasters. Another thing I was going to mention, I don't see Dollywood getting a large scale Ferris wheel like the one at the Island if that's what you all are talking about. Just because there's one there and there's about to be another at the new park where the new chairlift thing is up in Gatlinburg.
  12. Yea that's one of the rides to really cool down on a hot day easily that the whole family can ride, especially if you're still adrenaline filled and burning up after LR it's right there. Plus if they removed rampage talk about GP being pissed. I think that's the attraction they'd be most pissed about haha.
  13. Hmmm, maybe we'll find out something Friday? I really can't think of any rides really to be honest. River Battle I have done once and the rest of the times I just pass it up just because there's a thing as too wet and that's one of them haha plus it took so much effort to crank the things and to get the targets to work half the time. So let's see.. here's all of their rides and you all can look and think what's wrong/which one could be up for close. Thunderhead Drop Line Mystery Mine River Battle Fire Chaser Wild Eagle Tennessee Tornado Blazing Fury Daredevil Falls Barnstormer Mountain Slidewinder Smoky Mountain River Rampage Rockin Roadway Lightning Rod (Country Fair rides)
  14. I dunno I feel like project that means a lot to Dolly wouldn't necessarily be the snow park, I feel more like it would be another movie about her life or something along those lines.
  15. Since it's kinda the start of usual pre construction season, what does everyone think the park will do for 2018? I don't see Splash Country getting another slide next year, just because they typically skip around on splash country. We already have DreamMore so that's checked off the list. We have Drop Line which is a fantastic addition. What could be next? I was at the park last week and I didn't really see any construction, dozing, or anything of that sort. I rode the train looking for expanding areas or hidden things and I seen crates but you can't really tell right now if they are crates for the fireworks or something else. I took a picture over the fence where it says "it all began here" and it is just a black floor with your typical office style ceiling. Like it literally looks like it was a conference room or break room. As far as work behind it, it just looks like something had slid and they fixed it. I don't yet see them moving into the train loop even if they do. That's always been the typical photo op of the smokies and that field.
  16. Which row did you ride in? Which there's not really a bad row. It honestly is even better your second time and the more you ride it. It's so fast that it's over so quick,so you have to ride it again to get it all in. Got my uncle and cousin on their first rides this past Tuesday when it opened back up and they were like "What just happened?" So we went again before lines got too long and they screamed the entire time, not to mention the 45 year old man screaming oh sh*t and other words from the wave turn into the breaks.
  17. And plus, if you buy the drop Line mug or LR mug and get water at Dollywood, it's not just the cheapest option but it's also the better option. The 3 days I've been here this week TN has hit heat indexes of over 100 and yes while I was in Dollywood. I probably refilled up on water 14 times due to getting near heatstroke. You also have to think coasters drain you. So if you wanna sneak stuff in, just pay the mug price and get free water refills.
  18. Were they assigning seats? Filling the whole train or only half of it? Today it's up after opening late and waits are 100 minutes. I'm so freaking excited to get on it. LR, please, please, please, please, please still be working on Monday! I hope Mystery Mine is working too since I know a lot of people say it's great. Yes they were assigning seats. Ever since I've ridden back in November they've assigned. It makes things moves as fast as possible. Fast passes honestly are what slow things down because LR's dispatches are pretty fast. And yes every seat was filled up. When I first got my two back to back rides in yesterday the wait built up from 0 mins to 15mins to 60mins after I got off of my second round. It was like a stampeded of people running and screaming. Grown parents with children running haha
  19. By the way noticed an addition to the train. Anyone know what this is?
  20. From what I could tell, that was the delay today. The launch packed one heck of a punch today and it was my 15th time. At the base of the launch they did have mist running this time because temps touched 98. I am feeling that trying to get that second train on though was a problem.
  21. So I watched them all day and yes I got on the first train of the day as well as got 5 rides in. They attempted to get 2 trains in for about 2-3 hours. It was originally planned to open at 3, instead opened at 5:15. The 2nd train didn't work. What is it with 2 trains? I'm happy with 1 train op as long as it runs
  22. Yesterday the fire shot out with one working but glitched and stopped. Music stopped and we just rolled down the drop. I'm in line at the trolley now to go to the park so I'll keep ya updated on everything including LR and it's opening or closing.
  23. Testing happened with LR the entire time while I was st the park which was 3-9:30. The gates on the station doors were shut up top when I made a last round before the fireworks. I'll be at the park tomorrow as well, hopefully with a functional coaster. Today was a great day, lines were minimal. I can't get over Drop Lines amazingness. One thing I encountered with Barnstormer though, my last ride of the day the op was super sketchy. I attended my business as usual and buckled and pushed the restraints down. He came back, told me not to press down, and had them unlock everyone then he pressed everyone down but mine and gave an all clear? Freaked me OUT! So I went ahead and pressed it down and latched myself I . The only time I've felt fearful life wise on a ride.
  24. Going down again today for 3 days. Doing the after 3 deal to get 2 days in. It's at TC right now so I'm nervous. Rode it 2 weeks ago 5 times now I want to get my cousin and uncle on for their first times. Plus my first ever night ride.
