Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread

Lines up to until 4pm will be manageable. Once the Twilight admission time hits you will start to see crowds grow up until 7pm when the Haunts open. Then it will get ridiculous. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting the Fright Lane Pass if you want to do the Haunts. The lines will grow up to 2+hrs for the more popular ones (Asylum, London Terror, Cornstalkers, Zombie High). IMHO the $40 for the basic pass is worth it. I can fly through all of the extreme Haunts, see the magic show and be out of the park before 11pm. I personally feel my time is worth more than waiting in line and not getting to see it all, but everyone is on different budgets. Have fun. -

Worlds of Fun doesn't have an sign like that - they still have their iconic balloon sign out front -

The land clearing is for a permanent haunt that was to open this year but thanks to wonderful bureaucratic red tape got delayed until next season. -
I thought Outlaw Run is not as good as Goliath. OR is not as smooth . The layout is crazy but it feels a bit rough while riding, the train scuttles through the course (even Thunderhead is much better than OR). My friend who was riding with me didn't like OR at all. It was just ok. I like NTAG, Rattler and Goliath much better. Well steel coasters are usually smoother so I get that

It most certainly does fit the description. Every other splash pad that has been announced has included lounging area which finishes out the area. More than likely the actual attraction will be 1/3 of an acre (to use your words) and the lounging/shade area surrounding the actual attraction will make up the rest of the acre. -

The thing about this slide complex when compared to Predator's Plunge (WOF) / Snake Pit (DP) complex is that those complexes featured tube slides as well as body slides. This allows the complex to cater to a wider spectrum of guests whereas the VF complex doesn't really cater to anyone but thrillseekers. While that might be all right with the readers of this board, the vast majority of those visiting the park are families. Hence why I feel that the complex that VF is getting might have missed the mark. As far as the splash pad -- sounds like it is an exact duplicate of the ones that have already been announced for other waterparks in the chain -

It is one of 3 home parks for me - if that makes me a fan boy because I like it better than VF, then so be it. -

' Make sure you get your facts correct if you are going to troll. Worlds of Fun is getting a Splash Zone (which is exactly the same thing as Barefoot Beach) and they are getting swan shaped paddle boats to replace their canoe attraction at Oceans of Fun. Also not included in the WOF press release, they are upgrading several light packages on rides around the park. They are adding another permanent extreme haunt building (already being constructed) -- not to mention that 2016 and 2017 have already been earmarked as thrill ride additions. Without going into a full out park-war, there is no comparison between the two parks. WOF is by far the superior park. -

Every waterpark in the chain is getting the splash pad. VF wasn't even given the full Python Pit complex. Not to mention we have had it rammed down our throats that this year was going to be sooooo much more because Ouimet said so. Don't expect a B&M anytime soon -

Am I allowed to post that I'm not surprised they went on the cheap as this IS Valleyfair after all or do I still have to pretend that I buy into the whole "VF is going to get $$$$$$$$$$ to get lots of stuff because Ouimet said so quite awhile ago"? -

If the weather is nice, the park will be packed. Doesn't matter that it is early in the HAUNT season. This is the most popular event of the season at the park and it is the premier haunted attraction in the metro area. IF and WHEN you go, do not go cheap - buy the Fright Lane Pass otherwise you will be standing in line all night and will not see all of the mazes. It comes down to "how much is your time worth to you" -
LOL. Yeah, not showing my cards on this one yet. Let's just enjoy the new addition for the time being. and on that topic, they put the S&S tower into place on Friday. It is now standing tall in Fireman's Landing. Will try to get some "legal" pictures of the tower on stage this week. The PTB always get a little more than ticked when we post/take photos of stuff back stage

Finally before calling out someone as being "rude" - make sure you don't respond with a post that is as equally "rude". Just because someone has a different opinion as yours doesn't constitute it as being "rude". There post wasn't really rude, yours was IMO. You said "It's not my home park so I don't care what they get fixed." Just because it's not your home park, doesn't mean it's not others. I'm sure they would like a park like Kings Island, Cedar Point, or Canada's Wonderland. OR you could see what the post was replying to and stop piling on. Someone "fixed that for you" on one of prior posts. I replied with what I did because the post didn't need fixing because VF is not my homepark. OMG. So CP wasn't being rude and y'all took him out of context and therefore were the rude ones? Yep looks to be the case. -

That was extremely rude... You don't know what they are getting so it is fixed, but you don't care because it's not your home park and that is very ignorant. Just because you don't go to the park doesn't mean no one does and that is why Cedar Fair is investing in this place. Woah. I never said I didn't visit the park. Don't read things into other people's posts, that is just as rude. Next, you would have to be pulling an ostrich if you think that up until the announcement that the chain was going to finally invest major money in the park that it (VF) was being treated like anything other than the red-headed stepchild of the park. I'm sorry, but MSP didn't start being a larger metro area all of a sudden. It has always been good sized, I just don't see why all of a sudden they think that they will be able to milk it for more patrons and money when the metro area doesn't really support the park like it should already. Next I almost guarantee that if they (Cedar Point) had had the choice to get Kings Island instead of Valleyfair when they wanted to start expanding it wouldn't have been a competition. Yes, Valleyfair is the original of the Legacy Parks, but as I mentioned above it has been the red-headed step child of the chain with regards to expansions. Also market size doesn't seem to matter up there as they have not supported VF very well. Adding a coaster might give a little boost, but it is just not hardwired into the northerners to go to VF and that's a cultural problem NOT a "the park isn't big enough" problem. ===== Finally before calling out someone as being "rude" - make sure you don't respond with a post that is as equally "rude". Just because someone has a different opinion as yours doesn't constitute it as being "rude". -

The reason I say 2018 is because.... 2015 is an Oceans of Fun addition (and Murder's Mansion will finally open for HAUNT) 2016 / 2017 are supposed to be a large flat ride package and a dark ride (or that is the most prominent of the rumors at least) -

Fixed it for you. Also, how come an Intamin, Premier, S&S, Mack, etc couldn't fill "that void"? Not my homepark so I don't care what they get, so not fixed Honestly not sure why the chain suddenly thinks VF is worth investing in -

If and when VF gets a new coaster it will be a B&M. The park lacks a signature ride and really only a B&M is going to fill that void. -

When MAMBA was built, 1998, B&M had yet to build a hyper/speed coaster. The first(s) in their portfolio (Ragin' Bull and Apollo's Chariot) were not constructed until the following season (1999) thus it makes no sense to expect Cedar Fair to use B&M for that project. PATRIOT seems to be a very polar ride for coaster enthusiasts. I personally find it to be loads of fun. As for "forceless" - if you ride in the heartline seat in the back row, you would probably think otherwise. For me, the ride is just a lot of fun. Sure it doesn't feel the need to try to rip your legs off like Batman, but to call it forceless is just silly. It's an extremely graceful ride and one of the tallest inverteds out there STILL I agree with your assessment that Prowler was a win. It is still at its best at night during Haunt when the fog fills the course. It is still one of my favorite GCIs out there. I do feel that the next coaster for WOF will be a B&M, but I don't see that happening until 2018 at the earliest. -

I'm failing to see how that is depressing. The Haunt will still be a quality addition to the park. WOF already has one of the largest and best Halloween events in the chain.
