  1. There's a video on their facebook page as well where they're already putting the next piece on.
  2. Like SirClinks said, it was the "Twicket" They were hugely popular and ranged in $ amount and days limit to come back within based on the time of the year and how busy the park was. For the most part they were usually $1 and you had to come back the next day. I used to be a supervisor for that area and remember spending hours after the park closed to filter everyone through the line, it was insanely popular as you can imagine it was a great value. They also sold season passes at that time but they were much more costlier than the "Buy a day-get a year free" they do now. I remember the Twicket started out as you had to sign one side of the Twicket the day you were there and get it stamped when you paid and then you had to sign the back when you returned and the gate attendant would just match the signatures. In the late 90s, they went to taking the guest's picture and printing it on the Twicket to avoid people giving it to their friends and having them learn how to sign their signature. Good ole' days...
  3. You're right, I checked the 1980 map and it was the station for the "Train to Trollywood" ride that used to be where Goliath stands now. It sat empty for awhile and later became of the overflow queue in 1993 for "Sierra Falls" but was rarely used as the ride got older and the line never really gone past the stairs. 4. I can see that structure dating back to the 1988 map but it doesn't have a label on what it was... 1988 Six Flags Magic Mountain Map
  5. Did anyone see the inside of the Superman station/queue this past weekend? I'm wondering if they're going to update it at all! I know they changed all the lighting to be green (kryptonite). But when I saw it two weeks ago, the robot statue in the corner was gone as well as the ice (made of foam) statue of Superman's parents was gone. They didn't even remove it nicely...their cut off hands were still on the base with foam sticking out to where it was connected. I would also like to see either the hologram come back or for them to at least put a TV in the spot when you first enter...
  6. I finally got to ride today, the ride was AMAZING!!! Loved it! Winning!
  7. Yeah, that was us! I called Guest Relations right now and they said they plan on opening it but having difficulties again. We want to ride it but don't want to get stuck hanging out around the park again. I may try calling them again in a hour or two to get an update.
  8. Eric, that was you! I've never met you so I wasn't sure. I was also there at noon and waited until probably 4ish and then we decided to bail. I was there with my wife and daughter; we were the only ones waiting with a stroller! Didn't hit any other coaster but played in Bugs Bunny World for a little bit. BTW, all holes have been filled at the Road Runner site and the land is completely flattened with stakes placed everywhere. We might try tomorrow since we live close by. I was dissapointed but I hold no anger at the park; I believe they handled it very well and the employees were really nice. The one question I have is what was the true issue? They kept saying that since it rain last night, they needed to wait until the track dried. Is this because of the new trains? I worked at the park when the ride first opened and I remember standing in the rain letting season pass holders into the park during the week for the previews and remember Superman running in the rain quite a bit. I do remember that they close the ride when the rain gets to be too much because of the feeling of rain pelting your face at 100 mph but they usually opened it right back up when it stopped. I just don't understand how rain that happened over night affected a ride all the way up to the next night.
  9. I'm a passholder and didn't get this e-mail; can someone who received it, please forward it? Tyrebious@yahoo.com Thanks!
  10. Went to the park yesterday 2/13. Superman was testing the other side with the new backwards car. No water dummies yet but went right up to the brake run. Being an ex-employee that worked back when Superman first open; I'm excited to see it getting an upgrade and possibly running at it's promised potential.
  11. Yes, I remember a Coyote and even a Bear for awhile in the petting zoo cages and along the Granny Gran Prix route.
  12. Regular Pass = $59.99 Combo Pass = $84.99 ($25 extra for HH) Parking Pass = $50.00 So, the first deal saved you $100 when you bought 4 and you got HH; the new deal saves you $50 when you buy 4 and you just get the parking pass.
  13. Just a heads up; the buy 4 passes and get Hurricane Harbor passes free deal is done as of yesterday. The new deal is buy 4 passes and you'll get 1 parking pass added to one of the four passes for free. My procrastination bit me in the butt; should have went this weekend and bought our passes....damn it!
  14. I've lived in Santa Clarita since '84. It did snow somewhere in 1987/88 and then again in the picture above in 1989. Both times put a good amount of snow on the ground.
  15. I'm in the process of collecting scans of all the SFMM guide maps (I would love the original maps but I'll settle for scans). If anyone can provide scans, I would greatly appreciate it. I have scans of all the years except these: SFMM - 1972 SFMM - 1974 SFMM - 1975 SFMM - 1985 SFMM - 1993 I'm also a huge collector of the DLR maps. I have every map from opening until 1994 and 2004 to today. The years of 1994-2004 is when they stated going to the weekly maps. If anyone has any extra guides that their willing to sell/give/trade for Disneyland or Disneys California Adventure from 1994-2004. Please let me know. I have a ton of extras I can trade or I'm willing to buy them. Thanks...
  16. My apologies, you're correct! I meant Sierra Falls not Twist. I have corrected the original post.
  17. I'm wondering if Sierra Falls is really being replaced. The official release from SFMM just says "adjacent to Bugs Bunny World" and doesn't say anything about replacing Sierra Falls. Perhaps they're going to use the extended que building area of Sierra Falls that is never used? It could fit there and over lap into the empty petting zoo. Heck, they could even tear down the barn which isn't used for anything now either.
  18. So, Six Flags Twitter said there will be a big ride annoucement this Friday and when people responded asking what park it will be for this said "Was gonna keep it secret but lets just say it rhymes with Kiscovery Dingdom..." The website has the picture of a big box on a hill and with the caption "something big is coming your way" Does anyone already know what they're getting?
  19. I doubt that. If that was true; they would have closed the ride only a couple months before opening like Dreamworld did. SFMM has closed Superman little less than a year before the projected 2011 opening. I remember Tim mentioning at WCB that their goal is to rework the ancient computer system the ride came with. My guess is they're doing that now to get Superman back to the promised 100 mph and they'll add the backwards cars when they're reprogramming is complete. I imagine they'll update the station but I don't see a extended tunnel or fire being added. There is already a fog machine in the tunnel, they just need to actually turn it on.
  20. Here is some press video of Tower of Terror II with onride footage...looks great!
  21. Someone on the DreamWorld facebook page who claims to have seen the car says it has a fourth row hidden in the picture with 2 seats. So, if SFMM goes with this design, they will be losing 1 seat in the car.
  22. Trying to think of the reason why they would put bothsides backwards? I'm assuming to increase capacity for the demand? I hope they make it so they can turn one side back to forwards after the demand wears off.
  23. Another article from Santa Clarita's local radio station...KHTS... Thomas Talks About Texas, Tearful Goodbyes Six Flags isn’t letting the grass grow under Jay Thomas’s feet, flying him out to Dallas Thursday morning to start his new job. The details are still developing, but the former president of Magic Mountain/Hurricane Harbor said that he’s excited about the prospects. “I’ll be overseeing some key initiates for all of the parks,” he said. “What I’ll be working on is a top priority of our board of directors. I’m excited about the new position and its challenges and rewards.” He said his family was excited about returning to Texas, especially his two children. “The kids are excited to be closer to their grandparents,” he said. “I think it has to do with getting more toys.” He leaves Santa Clarita with a bit of regret, having enjoyed his time on various nonprofit boards and organizations. Many of the friends he made in those groups contacted him when they heard the news about him leaving. “It is such a wonderful feeling to get so many great notes from close friends,” he said. “The greatest thing about this community is how giving it is. When you operate and function the way Santa Clarita does, you look forward to being a part of it.” Asked about his approach to the park and the infamous “leaf policy” where he unabashedly carried a leaf scooper to keep the park’s walkways clear and encouraged other administrators to do the same, he quickly deferred credit for the attitude change to the whole park team. “I felt it was important to create a culture where people could feel like they made a difference,” he explained. “To empower young people or seniors or people with second jobs to suggest improvements when they saw something that wasn’t working improved things at the park exponentially. “It wasn’t me,” he said. “It was the entire team that brought that change to fruition.” Thomas said that he will be traveling back and forth for awhile until his family can make the move, but he did say he hates to say goodbye. “I’ll come back and visit,” he promised. “But right now, it’s an exciting time and I’m looking forward to the change.”
