They also haven't announced where the station will be. All the rumors point to the coaster using both sides of the hill and the old metro tunnel. The station could be on the west side of the hill and just have some elements in the old Log Jammer area. I thought I heard that the station will be in the Deja Vu area and then go north and then east over the hill. If the rumors of longest coaster too are true than that would make sense hence the reason why Deja Vu and Thrill Shot have been removed to make way for it. We'll see...

That sure looks like actual park gates now; not just a wall built temporary for a new ride. My guess if we can expect some of the new SFMM ride in the old metro station area in front of this wall but behind the wall is being reserved for SFHH since that is really the only place they have left to expand. I'm all for that since SFHH hasn't gotten anything new since Tornado in 2004 (I don't count the Mr. Six play area since that was almost a rebuilt of the same attraction with just a different theme). One thing is for sure, you can kiss Joker's Hideout and overflow Season Pass processing goodbye!

I have no doubt Intamin has this covered (obviously), it should just be interesting to see how they build LL:DOD and see how the swaying affects the ride experience. Just curious, has anyone on this board ridden the Giant Drop in Australia? Does the tower sway that much when the Tower of Terror launches? Looking at that tower, it is built different than Superman. It's a large tube tower that I believe was built to house both rides from the get go and looks much more sturdier. Superman's tower wasn't built to hold a drop ride on the side of it and is built to sway much more freely than the Tower of Terror tower. You can literally stand at the bottom of the tower and see it sway like crazy.

On a side note, I know everyone keeps mentioning how loud Superman and their fear of how loud it will be on the LL:DOD ride but I have a bigger concern. Has anyone looked at the tower after the car goes up and comes back down? It must sway at least 5 feet back and forth, imagine sitting in the LL:DOD car at the top of the tower and Superman goes up and you're swinging back and forth before dropping. It's going to scare the crap out of me more than the ride itself will do. Make me wonder if the ride will be suspended on it's own and just have some basic connectors to the Superman tower for support.

I don't think it's fair to try and compare the season pass books of the 90's with the ones handed out now. First off, the passes in the 90s were actual annual passes and charged at a much higher price ($80-$100) compared to now where they're giving you an annual pass for the price of a regular day admission. Also, now, they give you discounts on merchandise and food and you can purchase a season pass parking pass when the old passes didn't offer that. I'd still say SFMM's passes are the best bang for your buck compared to other parks. Knott's and Universal are doing the pass for a price of a regular ticket but with no benefits (Knotts has only 10% at 3 of the parks many restuarants and stores and I swear they're the most expensive). They also charge a fortune to add the ability to be able to go to other CF parks when that is just thrown in with the SF passes (besides the water parks).

It's funny that someone else heard this. Just like all rumors, you can take this with a grain of salt. But I also went to the park today with my wife and daughter and was in line for the metal detectors when one of the market research people (this employee has been there 10+ years, I remember him when I worked there in the late 90s) began interviewing someone behind us about how many times they've been to the park. He then went on to explain to the couple that SFMM is getting the demon drop ride next year and explained how it's going to be on both sides of the Superman tower. He then went on and told the couple they should be excited about what is coming in 2013. He said the following points about this upcoming ride (I'm aware that some of these points are commonely known now, I'm just sharing all he said) - Log Jammer has been closed and will be removed for it - Deja Vu has been closed and will be removed for it - The ride will be launched and like Kingda Ka where the ride will launch up and go over a top hat element - The ride will be the tallest and fastest and change the "skyline" of the park - The ride will begin back where Deja Vu was and go north before turning to go over the mountain where it will do some tricks in the Log Jammer area before returning back to the other side of the mountain by using the old metro tunnel. Now I know the whole dippin dots employee crap will be brought up, I just thought there was too many points explained to this couple by a higher level employee to be false. So, only time will tell. But you have to admit, the points all seem possible and coincide with what's going on it the park. A ride at that caliber would require Deja and Log Jammer to close two years early...

I'm sure the choice between Jet Stream and Log Jammer has nothing to do with maintenance costs, it probably has to do with the real estate. Jet Stream is intertwined with Ninja and there isn't a whole lot you can do with that area. Log Jammer holds a huge chunk of real estate that really only intertwines with Gold Rusher in only a small area. They could do a lot with that space. If this is true, I will miss the ride because it's a great flume ride but I look forward to what's next. Also, I haven't ridden the thing in years because I hate the water cannons they added to the end. I like to get wet, not drenched. On a side note, has anyone ridden Jet Stream lately? My wife and I like that one because you don't get soaked but it seems recently they added a little fountain of some sort at the bottom of the tunnel hill that shoots a huge chunk of water into the boat.

I was just wondering if anyone who went in the past week saw any Fright Fest construction? I'm just curious on where the new 3 mazes are going... Cursed - _________________? No, it doesn't. Why is it ridiculous for the park to let guests know when entering the park that a kennel is available for them just near the parking lot? It isn't. And it would save the park from having to break into car windows, and having to deal with the problems they have with guests leaving pets in the car. Apparently, this is a frequent occurence. OBVIOUSLY, the park is not doing enough to make the guests know the service is available. I just thought your comment "Typical Six Flags..." was obsurd over this kennel conversation. What would you like them to do? Have signs going up the hill that says "Hey, you idiots that bring a dog to a theme park, be aware we have a kennel instead of leaving your dog in the car to die"??? Also, like I said, the kennel is VERY HARD to miss since everyone has to pass it to park. Lastly, since you said it's Typical Six Flags, what is the practice at Disney in regardsd to the kennel? I bet it's exactly the same. I think the park should be applauded for saving the dog especially when they didn't have to!
-
I think this is a unfair statement. First off, odds are the woman was hiding the dog when driving through the parking gate anyways since you shouldn't bring a dog to a theme park. Second off, how can you expect parking attendants to examine every car for dogs as they drive through? It's not their responsibility to make up for people's lack of common sense. Lastly, you drive right past the kennel to go park. It's literally 15 feet away from the main road and has "Dog Kennel" in big white letters on the side, they can't make it anymore obviouse it's there. Also, I think it's noted in the map as well. Six Flags doesn't have to provide that service! But they do...and they do it for free.

Any news yet on Fright Fest this year? I looked at the park hours and SFMM will actually be closing at midnight on Fridays and Saturdays (10pm on Sundays) in October for Fright Fest. They didn't even close that late during the busy summer time (July and August). There are coupons floating around that advertise this year as the "Biggest Fright Fest Ever!" with 13 mazes and scare zones, including 2 new mazes. This is the list from last year. I'm only counting 10 mazes/scarezones which technically means there should be 2 new mazes and 1 new scarezone. MAZES 1) Bite II - Former Eagles Flight building in Samarai Summit. 2) Willoughby's Haunted Mansion - The classic in Samarai Summit. 3) Lecter's Slaughterhouse - The games warehouse in DC Universe 4) Jokester's Hideout 3d - The clown maze by the old Flashback site 5) Warehouse 13 - Rethemeing of Log Jammer 6) Asylum - The chain link fence maze in the old Metro que by Log Jammer 7) Escape of the Zombies - Retheming of the Tidal Wave Que SCARE ZONES 8) Camp Gonnagetcha - Near Roaring Rapids 9) City Under Seige - DC Universe 10) Exile Hill - Samarai Summit I wonder where the 2 new mazes will be. My guess is bringing back a maze in the Magic Moments Theater and maybe building 1 in the backstage area by Scream/Colossus and turning that pathway into another scare zone.

I rode GL on opening weekend, didn't get one spin at all. I did enjoy the negative Gs but because there was no spinning it really tore up my shoulders being pressed up against the restraints on each of the drops. I actually think it would be a more comfortable ride if we did spin more... On a side note, when we were waiting to be unloaded, the car behind us came into the station with one side was faced straight down while the other side faced up. The people on the bottom screamed in agony but the workers didn't even notice them until he unbuckled us and then he yelled to the panel. It took them a good 5 to 10 minutes to start the ride back up, the next car behind them had to stop at the mid-course break and wait.

Went by the park with my wife and daughter for a quick hour after work today. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the RRE site. They have added a ton of themeing to the site since the last pictures posted online. They have more Wiley and RR figures throughout the area and on top of those fake rock piles. They've also added a ton of fake wood cactus (and real) and wood desert mountains along the back fences and throughout the ride. The cars now have ACME stickers all over them and there is Acme signs on the old Yosemite queue house and what I'm assuming will be the photo house for RRE next to the Magic Flyer coaster. Looks great...
