here here, When you've got such a fast intense coaster there's not much point themeing around the train I think. Big Thunder is slow enough that you can see all the stuffed animals during the ride. But this coaster is making me properly consider a visit to Efteling. -
RE: Walt Disney World and Selfie Sticks
Bag_O_Laughs replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow those pictures above of the Sea World show is unbelievable, its like a little forest of iphones and gopros. Selfie sticks are about in the UK but, as far as I know, not quite to the same level as it is in the US. However I've had my fair few run-ins with these at the UK parks already... The problem with selfie sticks are as follows: 1. People use them while walking/talking/during any non-stationary activity. These people become completely unaware of their surroundings walking into other people and stationary objects (lamposts ) This is also why i hate people who text and walk, come on you can stop, write the text (30 seconds max) then carry on your way. I've seen multiple people cross roads while texting too 2. People use them during shows so they can get a rubbish iphone video of a show that they could find on youtube, blocking the view of everyone behind them. (this also happens in concerts grrrr!) 3. People use them on fast moving rides which means one of two things either they'll loose grip on it and it will fly into another unsuspecting riders face causing injury or their phone will smash into ride supports or scenery, obliterating their phone/camera and making me smirk like the Grinch when Christmas got cancelled. -
Hello Everyone, I've got a unique question... I live in the UK and I've got a colleague that collects beer mats. Now, I have no idea how common place beer mats are in the US. However in my visits to Florida I've only ever seen bars and restaurants use small square napkins instead of beer mats. Does anyone know where could I find some beers mats to take back to old blighty for my colleague? A quick glance on the internet doesn't turn up much other than an ebay listing for a Rose and Crown beer mat from Epcot. I was wondering if some of the "British" style "pubs" eg. Rose & Crown, Bulls Head, Leaky Cauldron would have proper British style beer mats? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Epcot-Walt-Disney-World-Bass-Ale-Beer-Mat-Coaster-Rose-Crown-England-READ-/251699700982 I forgot to add is I've got a holiday booked for 16th of September where i'll be staying in Cabana Bay Hotel but i'll be visiting Universal, Disney and Sea World.

Thank you so much for all that fantastic information! I'm glad Stitch has a covered area, I love stitch! I'm so excited I can't even handle it but I know its still a long time to wait. I will definitely use the advise you've written here. I know the park is tiny but I'm still super excited about Mystic Manor and visiting Hong Kong its self!

I disagree completely. Not only does i have a theme but it has a whole back story! The station is the monster, the track is steel that holds the monster in, there's a Ribena coloured river and random desolate buses and cages strewn about the place. So i very much disagree. The same with Swarm, its supposed to look apocalyptic. -

This is amazing, you are inspirational! Now i'm contemplating making my own model roller coaster. It looks extremely time consuming though. -

yes its very difficult to theme the track but Nemesis has got an awesome theme throughout and it actually adds to the ride I think. If you sit at the front it feels like you're just about to hit all the pieces of themeing as you go along. I could also mention the Swarm which does the same thing at Thorpe. But I think thats about as much themeing you're going to be able to do around the track. -
Hello! I'm so happy because currently i'm planning on visiting HKD in early October 2016 If anyone's got any tips I'd love to hear them. We're going to stay 4 nights in Hong Kong its self and then 3 nights in the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and We'll probably do 2 day in the park. If anyone's been during this time, is the pool still open and is it hot enough that I'll want to go swimming? I'm so excited but its still 1 1/2 away but I waited 2 years for Tokyo Disneyland so a 1 1/2 won't seem too long. After this trip all i'll have to do is visit California and I'll have been to all the disney parks. Then I'll have to start thinking about how i'll get to Shanghai!

Exactly. With Kong coming from Universal and Avatar coming from Disney there is so much more to come from the more recent surges of theme park expansion. I think Hogsmede in Islands of Adventure really kick started Universal doing some truly detailed immersive environments. It did so well that they seem to have moved away from the "facades" idea and into whole themed areas. First it was Hogsmede, then Simpsons and now Diagon alley.

Hello everyone, I'm Rachel and a long time Theme park goer, 1st ever visit was when I was 2 years old! I live in the UK and my current closest Theme park is Alton Towers. Favorite coaster is Nemesis (from Alton Towers). I've been to loads of theme parks in my time including all of WDW, Universal & Islands of Adventure Florida (multiple times), Disneyland Paris resort (multiple times), Thorpe park, Alton towers, Chessington world of adventures, Blackpool pleasure beach, Movie World (Australia) & Port Aventura (multiple times). In the past 5 years I've not been on a holiday abroad which doesn't involve a Theme park and I've just got back today from Port Aventura! I've currently got a Tokyo Disney trip booked for November of this year and an Orlando visit for September 2015. I've never been to Sea World or Tokyo Disney so I plan to tick these of my list. I've always followed this forum and the fantastic youtube videos so I thought I'd join and chat with fellow Theme park Peoples!
