  1. With a B&M hyper, I think Kings Dominion could put an underground tunnel underneath the path behind the Effiel Tower that leads to Candy Apple Grove. It could be similar to Fury 325's underpath tunnel. That way the hyper could go in- and out- and use part of Shockwave's soon- to- be- former site. However, from the picture there is a huge hill behind the Effiel Tower on the "mysterious" hyper coaster, so it could as well be a hill going over that same path instead of a tunnel.
  2. So, I was on the Kings Dominion website and noticed the "Mysterious" B&M track from the season pass ad is even more visible in the new coaster campout ad. This new ad shows a lot less of Hurler and Anaconda and more of the mysterious B&M track. The other mysterious green coaster is not in this ad! If this is what Kings Dominion recieves next season, i'm wondering if they're purposely showing more and more of a new coaster off in these ads as it gets closer and closer to the 2016 announcment?? They did give hints last year through the hidden Soak City logo!
  3. I also rode Rougarou when it was still Mantis and it is a huge step up. It was a much needed upgrade!
  4. Alpengeist is brutal. It needs those vest restraints BADLY. I've never head anyone say Rougarou is rough, just a slight rattle at the end like Dominator. I went to Cedar Point and rode Rougarou in June and was really disappointed. I must say Dominator is a much better floorless coaster! Believe it or not, Rougarou was as bad as a headbanger as Anaconda and was a really rough ride expierence. The restraints on Rougarou were in a much higher position than they should be for a comfortable ride!
  5. Glad you had a great first visit to Kings Dominion! Kings Dominion is truly a beautiful park, but its beautifulness is way underated due to Busch Gardens Williamsburg, the world's most beautiful theme park being only about an hour away. I'm happy Shockwave is leaving and agree that both Shockwave and Hurler are awful coasters, but I think Andaconda and Grizzly are okay and not bad. Please post back once you've ridden Fury 325 to tell us how you think it compares to I305. I'm sure a a lot of us would be interested in your opinion!
  6. I think Kings Dominion is too focused on food festivals and should be more focused on the park's "normal" food options. I'm also disappointed with Bistro 75. It's a good idea, but it blocks off so many seats by the royal fountains. I hope Kings Dominion adds a nice, casual sports bar grill in the near future and improves Victoria Gardens Pizza, which in my opinion, was decent before the 2014 season and has been awful ever since.
  7. I hope Kings Dominion replaces all the asphalt in Candy Apple Grove with new brick pavers with next year's "Project Remove Shockwave" Candy Apple Grove expansion!
  8. I agree. Virginia is not nearly as big on NASCAR and racing as the Carolina's are. I'm sorry, but i'm going to have to disagree. Virginia is pretty big on NASCAR racing and Richmond International Raceway is just around the corner from Kings Dominion!

  10. Looks like Griffon needs a new fresh coat of dark blue paint!
  11. I'd actually be really dissapointed if Kings Dominion added any type of wing rider coaster! I've ridden both X-Flight at Six Flags Great America and Gatekeeper at Cedar Point and I was'nt impressed with either. I think wingriders are very painful with the harnesses being way too tight. There's not any looseness feeling whatsoever.
  12. Much of the local GP locals, non-enthusiasts who go to both Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens are tired of Kings Dominion not receiving a new coaster, thus spending their money at Busch Gardens instead. On the other hand, Busch Gardens, which is less than an hour away, has added the new Tempesto this year for 2015, Verbolten for 2012, and Mach Tower for 2011. So, Busch Gardens has added two new coasters before Kings Dominion has added any new coaster. You also can't forget that most of the local GP is too scared to ride Intimidator 305. Kings Dominion must add a new coaster soon if they want to stay competitive!
  13. Now at the great value of 35 million dollars!!! LOL. But KD hasn't spent a lot of money on a giant project in recent years, so they can get an expensive investment in the next 2-3 years. Kings Dominion doesn't choose how much money they get to keep for themselves, otherwise we would have already had a coaster. This is evident by CF's rejection of KD's request in 2014 and 2015 for a new coaster. It isn't like KD gets to save their money, it goes to CF, who then decides where in the chain it needs to be invested. See, Iv always read that they look at each park separately. Which I would take as that they dont take KD's earnings and use them for CPs new coaster or vise versa. .02 I think they look at each park as separate as well but I'm not sure if that applies when it comes to park investment. Cedar Fair seems to a lot better job at this Six Flags though. At least they don't add Cedar Fairs in front of the name of all their parks and seem to avoid cloning roller coasters as much as possible, unlike Six Flags. They also try to use individual themes for all their park attractions/areas, except for using the Peanuts characters in the kids areas and the cloned theming Paramount left behind.
  14. Looks like I found an error on the main Kings Dominion website on the park history section under "Today's Kings Dominion". *https://www.kingsdominion.com/media-center/park-history Soak City is misspelled "Saock City"!
  15. Vortex could use a new paint/color scheme also.
  16. This looks like it wasn't an accident! There's a lot of mysterious B&M track in this picture.
  17. I know people keep on saying a B&M hyper coaster is a downgrade from Intiminator 305, but really the next coaster, no matter what it is, will be a downgrade. I don't think this will matter. I think if the next coaster is brand new and well designed than it would be marketable. BTW, Intimintor 305 is so intense and designed for thrillseekers, so most people are too scared to ride. I think a B&M hyper would be more of a fun, but just enough intense expierence to please thrillseekers and for not so many people to be scared to ride like I305.
  18. I would NOT recommend the Fast Lane Pass on a Sunday! Sundays are surprisingly one of Kings Dominion's least crowded days. When I went to Kings Dominion last Sunday, the park was so empty that we had to wait for enough people to be in line for Windseeker before they'd start the ride! The only ride you'd probably have to wait in a long line for, however, would be Volcano.

When I went to Kings Dominion last Sunday, the park was so empty that we had to wait for enough people to be in line for Windseeker before they'd let anyone else ride! The only ride you'd probably have to wait in a long for, however, is Volcano.
  20. This may surprise you, but I would highly recommend riding the very back row for the most "thrilling" expierence! But if you want the best view while riding, then I would recommend the very front row.
  21. I personally think it would be a poor decision to remove Blue Ridge Tollaway or Flying Eagles.
  22. Sorry to go off topic, but this is soo.... cool that it must be posted sooner rather than later! Ya'll have to check out these awesome neon lights built into the new "Thunder Falls" waterside as part of the new "Hurricane Heights" slide complex in the new Kings Dominion Soak City! -Posted by Aquatech Solutions Facebook page.
  23. I think the August announcement decision already is a sign for Kings Dominion receiving a new coaster next year. Kings Dominion never announces an attraction so early unless it's BIG. Knowing this has made me even more excited! Looks like Kings Dominion will receive one of Cedar Fair's main new coaster/attraction for 2016!
  24. About the possible flying coaster rumors for 2016, I don't see anything preventing it from happening. I saw some comments claiming that this won't happen because of Batwing (lay down coasters are about the same), but remember were talking about Six Flags America. That park hasn't even been a threat to Kings Dominion. Kings Dominion is so much better in every factor. However, a flying coaster seems unlikely anyways, it's looks like the next coaster will be either a B&M hyper or wing coaster.
  25. Went to Kings Dominion today! The park wasn't but so crowded. Intiminator 305 seems MUCH more smoother and less jerky on the twists this season. I also saw the police lights on Backlot Stunt Coaster working when it became dark outside. I'm not sure if it was working last season, but I'm glad they are now.
