^ I've had my eye on them as well. I believe it was last year before TB was announced and we were speculating about the old PP/ Giraffica station and plot of land and what would become of it. I have said that they should update frightful falls and retheme it, and also completely remover Rafing Rapids. Then they could make an even better Raging Rapids style ride(maybe some kind of first) over where PP used to be. Then it would open a ton of free land for an expansion of Fourth of July and maybe Halloween, Splashing Safari, or Thanksgiving. The other land plot I could see them changing and moving is the old time cars from where they are to maybe a new place that doesn't take up as much land, which could free up land for Halloween and Fourth of July and maybe even Christmas. Maybe a new kiddie land or an intermediate coaster -

I know this isn't likely but I don't recall this being mentioned. What if they are doing a renovation on the whole Halloween section? I mean think of the possibilities! They could add so much more theming. They could also retract and rebuild parts of the Legend and a little work on the Raven. They could also maybe rebuild Frightful Falls. The age of it is starting to show and I do love it a lot, but what if they rebuild it, maybe add some slight Rapids drops and a longer tunnel, and a taller drop or drops ps: The Banshee Returns -

That's a LOT of wood. I'm not sure how much the retracting would use but that seems like a significant amount. I suppose if all three coasters are retracted that could make sense, but maybe the wood could be used to reproduce the track, and then new iron horse or topper track on top with an inversion in a tunnel -

I have always said that they should redo the Legend and I'm happy that it's getting work. I've always loved Legend's layout but it's so painful and the laterals hurt. A Lot. I feel like if they cut out the 4 turns of death at the end and made a spaghetti bowl or something to make it smoother, it would really help. I would love to see new tunnels and some new help to the turns because I think this is an underrated world class coaster that was affected too much by roughness before it got a chance. Thank you Holiday World for (hopefully) giving the middle child some love -

Okay so as you all were talking about PP/ Giraffica and it got me thinking about an old topic... How did they repay HW? Now the simple answer would be with money, which could explain why HW is able to invest in so many big projects, but I just think HW is good with saving money. If you all remember, there were several years of small investments like safari SAMs splashland, so on those years it would be easy to save a significant amount of money. So I want to think a little deeper as to what Intamin could give. They could offer a large discount on a new coaster, whether it be a family coaster, a kiddie coaster, a giga or maybe even a pre fab woodie. Now I could see this being a deal that gets put in place so HW can launch themselves even further into the top ten best parks. Another option could be an Intamin drop tower... Now this could be doubtful, but it would give HW a much needed thrill ride to add to the back half of the park, and could also fill the gap of the PP being gone. Or we could receive a giga and a drop tower on it -

I'm not surprised at all to see these improvements during the offseason, even after Thinderbird. The owners and management of Holiday World are incredibly intelligent and most likely planned to have money set aside for improvements this year. I think part of the reason is because Thunderbird launched them even further into the top of the "best park bloodbath" but one of the setbacks is the "roughness" of their wooden roller coasters, specifically The Legend and The Voyage. I personally love The Voyage and The Raven, but I've always found The Legend incredibly painful so I welcome the improvements. I just wonder if we will still see a new ride add like a flat ride in sparkler's old spot, or a new ride at Thunderbird plaza, a new small water slide or element, or a new kiddie ride. I know I can't wait to find out! -

I think what would be smart is to add a new Easter section, and it could either all be a new kiddie area or just part of it. They could make like Easter Bunnies Eggland and put a bunch of jr rides there, and maybe move some from their others to free up more space. -

I am seeing a lot of posts about the Screaming Eagle being tough and rough and not having much airtime, but I strongly disagree. Last time I rode it was at frightfest last year, and I was incredibly impressed. See, it was actually a little scary because my seat belt would not stay tightened and my lap at was several inches from my lap (I'm rather skinny) overall, I gained airtime on nearly every Gil and I thought that it was by far a way better ride than the boss. Being a Voyage fanboy, I felt like the Boss wanted to be something but didn't quite get it. I didn't experience hardly any airtime at all, and I felt like it was built to just beat the crap out of you. So I would gladly welcome an RMC conversion of the boss. -

I apologize for the double post. Adding RMC to the Legend would also bring new life to the Halloween section since a new ride hasn't been added there in more than a decade. This would definitely create opportunities. I just wonder if they did this, would they keep Frightful Falls or close it down. If they did, this may be able to open up quite a bit of land for a new expansion to Halloween. I don't know, just my thoughts. -

My immediate thought goes to what I have been saying they should do for years, which is RMC the Legend. As much as I would like to see them do this to the Legend, I doubt they would do it so soon. However, I will gladly accept if they do -

I I know we won't be getting a super large addition, but I figure they will most likely add some new flat ride and some more improvements here and there. Does anyone know when we may see an announcement for this??? -

I've also always felt that the legend is an extremely rough roller coaster. I do love the layout of the legend, and it was expertly thought out, but I can only enjoy it once per visit because it is so intense. This is why I personally feel that if Holiday World ever did decide to do an RMC Iron Horse conversion, they should do it to The Legend. You could throw in some intense elements on it too, especially with the unique drop and all the turns, and can we just say how they could throw in a secret inversion or something in the tunnel of the helix that you can't see. To me I feel like this would be a good idea, especially since it would bring new life to the Halloween section. Then if they wanted to still have three traditional woodies they could build a new one, behind the water coasters maybe? I don't know, just my thoughts on it! -

I want to compliment Holiday Workd for their excellent planning. I think it is absolutely amazing that when you analyze the park, you see so many areas where they can expand further. In Fourth of July, the old Soarkler spot. In thanksgiving, The Giraffica/ PP plot, as well as the path to Thunderbird which could accommodate several flats. Also so much water park expansion near Hyena Falls, or even by Mammoth and Kima Bay. This is excellent for an amusement park business because it means they have room to plan so many more rides and things for their guests to enjoy. There are so many corporate chain parks that can't expand any more and each time they have to take down an old ride. Thank you Holiday World for In my opinion and so many others, being one of the best parks out there. And the incredible thing is there is so many ways that they can become even better, and I look forward to the day when right out front they gave an Amusement Today Golden ticket for best park! haha -

I think that'd be the perfect place for a custom family coaster along the lines of Firechaser Express. I like the idea of a new family coaster. As much as the enthusiast in me wants a new extreme coaster, I think that a family coaster is a wonderful choice. The good thing about Firechaser express is that it's not a kiddie coaster so adults could ride it but it isn't intense enough that kids would be scared. I don't know if Holiday World would do another launch with it though. An interesting thought is that the thunderbird area is kinda empty right now, and if you put a family coaster back there it brings even the little kids who may be scared to get on thunderbird to that side of the park. The issue I could see with putting a family coaster in the Fourth of July area would be that it is so close to Holidogs Funtown that a lot of children would be content with staying In the Fourth of July area. That could be a good thing or a bad thing, so I don't know. But I think that if holiday world added a family coaster it would fit in wonderfully with their park, and then they could add an rmc and a B&M giga!!! okay maybe not, but you never know... -

I think your right, but man I would hate for them to loose that picnic grove. It really is quite awesome having that in the middle of the park...errrr what was at one time the middle of the park. It would be interesting if the following happened: So Pilgrims plunge station is used again to build a new Rapids ride that is way more intense and themed for a safari maybe, with like a ton of zoo animals and a canyon and intense drops. That would help fill that spot very well. Then, if they did decide to take out raging Rapids, that would open that space up, and you could build a fairly large woodie, rmc, or steel coaster that goes where raging Rapids is and where the picnic grove is. However this is all speculation, and if none of it happens then that's okay! Holiday World is to me the best park in the world, and I can't wait for it to get even better -

I'm not sure about the drive from Louisville to Cincy, I think it is like 2 hours. If you are coming from Florida, once you get into Nashville take 24 up and then get on I 69 to pennyrile parkway up to Evansville, then get on 64. it is not far from HW, and then goes into Louisville. If it was any way possible you should also hit up Dollywood , but that may get too far out of the way. -

What kind of looping raft ride prototype? Is it like a mammoth water coaster type ride or is it like your typical raft ride?(raging Rapids type) -

So I went to the park yesterday and I figured I would post my report. We got there and made the long walk to thanksgiving and hopped on the Mayflower. This has got to be the greatest themong on a swinging ship. We then went to Thunderbird plaza, which had a good scenic feel to it. I rode it three times, the right back, left back, and right front. The right back was very good and the left back seemed more intense. Overall the roller coaster was more intense than I ever expected, and was a very good fit for the park. I was disappointed that the Crow's Nest/Sparkler was down all day, but I believe it was due to the wind and rain. The Voyage was running well. I have always been able to ride the Voyage multiple times and I have never found it unbearable, but yesterday it ran really rough. The first have was very smooth, but the second half still tore me up even with the MCBR. However I will always love the voyage and ride it no matter how painful. The Legend ran rough but was way more bearable than it has been in years. And the Raven ran very good as usual. Now's where I get to my personal preferences, not necessarily negatives of the park. The park is great, and it never gets old. However I felt it a painfully long walk from the entrance of the park all the way to thunderbird. I think it would be nice if there was another entrance built over there on that highway, and that would give people easier access to the parks two most popular points, Splashin Safari and Thanksgiving. As I have mentioned before, I love the rapids but it is showing its age. I would love to see a new Rapids ride over where PP used to be that was themed really well, or if it was possible, a raft ride in the Halloween section that was mildly haunted or whatnot to add a really good themed haunted water ride. However, the Rapids is in no way deteriorating, so it is full functional and would be okay if the decided to leave it there. Okay, so now I have a more curious question. The Lewis and Clark trail takes up quite a bit of space, and I am not positive but I think there is a smaller ride in Holidogs funtown. In my opinion I would like to see a new plaza area or something here to add a few more flat rides and alleviate some of the traffic and congestion throughout the park. Of course all of this is just what I would prefer. The park is my favorite park I have been to, which is why I go every year. -

Sorry for the double post, but I love how Hyena Falls has friends now! Before it just was way out there by itself but I feel like now it fits into the layout of the park more cohesively than before. Very good placement on all three rides HW! It's still extremely out of place, considering it's part of Splashin' Safari and is a good 10 minute walk from the other water park attractions. But like Paula has said, it's all part of HW's plan, so I'm sure within a few years it won't be a problem anymore. It would make sense to put the Hyenas out by Mammoth - Hyena Springs takes hardly any space, and Hyena Falls could even make for some near miss elements on Thunderbird. If there's more waterpark attractions on the way in the future, then Splashin Safari may be pushing the park's boundary as a whole, but it looks like there's a little space left to the north. If anything gets added to Thanksgiving it could be added to the front of the section near Fourth of July. Take away Raging Rapids and that opens a lot of space in the front of Thanksgiving and the back of Fourth of July, and then you can put a new Rapids ride where Pilgrims Plunge used to be, and this opens it up to both the Thanksgiving section and Splashin' Safari. -

So I know this is really random, but I was watching the POV of Fury 325 at Carowinds, and I noticed how it is just a coaster in a flat plane with no interaction with anything else except a bridge. This is an issue with a lot of roller coasters, especially ones at the chain parks. These rides are actually really good, but I can't help but imagine how interesting it would be to see a giga like Fury flying through the woods of Holiday World. -

Who knows though, holiday World has worked with Proslide multiple times in the past to develop new designs and technology, so we could see some major water rides unlike anything else in America.
