Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread
Sf-Dad replied to Homer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So I asked my boys (9 and 11) what they thought about a "Justice League" ride. They stuck their tongues out, no interest at all. So I asked them what kind of ride they would be interesting inside a dark building like the old Scooby Doo. The response was Minecraft! Terraria! Plants vs Zombies! Maybe my kids are weird and outside the mainstream and video game zombies but superheroes just do not spark their interest. It would be interesting to see the revenue and profit comparisons between DC Comics And Mojang. -

Call Wile E Coyote and strap on some ACME Rocket Boosters seems like the fastest and most efficient solution to me. -

I am game for a meet up as well, but I am a Cubmaster and Troop Assistant Scoutmaster so free fall weekends are rare so I can't commit. Daredevil Daze does sounds like a blast. If we did it outside of Daredevil Daze It would be so fun have t shirts made with "$ix Flags Over Priced" or some other stick to the man theme. Anybody got a portable generator and an electric griddle so we could have a tailgate party and bypass the no open flame rule? We can even send Dave an invitation. (Along with HWfan, TNT and any other emps here) -

I am sure the bean counters at SF Corporate are chomping Xanax over the possibility that a couple of hundred (at most) TPR posters are boycotting. Another bankruptcy looms. Let me know how it works out for you. Change.org -
How are roller coasters built?

Do you know any Boy Scouts? Talk to them and see if any are interested in taking the Surveying Merit Badge. You could probably tag along. There are plenty of professionals that are willing to donate their time and expertise to help inspire young minds. Best of all you can get some quality hands on experience for very little or no cost. If that kind of stuff interests you there are tons of other Merit Badges you can peruse and get a great introduction to a wide variety fields from engineering to game design to inventing. Go to meritbadge.org for a complete list and description. In answer to you question, much the same way they start building a tunnel from two sides of a mountain and meet in the middle only an inch off. -

^ if you have school age children involved with any activities the start of school year is insane. Sports, scouts, clubs etc and all the fundraisers that go along with them. Last year I think we were able to make one Saturday in the fall. As much as I like rides, it is also nice to go out in the fall and a enjoy the other type of parks, you know Nature. Crossing a creek on a downed tree offers a unique thrill, no lapbar. -

Ludicrous park food prices
Sf-Dad replied to GigaG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The crummy $10 slice of pizza and bread sticks at SFSTL is the worst ripoff. I doubt it has an full ounce of cheese on it. Just a slice of bread with a slice or two of pepperoni and cheese dusting. The SF Dinning Pass has been awesome for my two boys the past couple of years. ($85 through oct, I think) We go 1-2x a week mostly the waterpark usually around 1 or 2, eat then play. Many times when we leave at 6 the boys are not hungry and I get 3 chicken strip meals dump them in a gallon ziplock bag and then do a quick reheat in the oven when we get home. I think the pass was paid for by the first week of June. The only food I have bought all year is occasional ice cream. A junior sized sundae at the local custard stand or DQ is about $4 so $7 for the monster sized waffle cone isn't that bad even though they can never finish it. The burgers and pizza are very sub par and I am sick of waffle fries, but the chicken fingers and Mexican are not that bad. The hot dogs are decent quality for a dog. The chicken salads are actually good though the dressing sucks. I smoke my own meats so the park BBQ is a let down as well as at most chain BBQ joints. My standards are high for BBQ. Without the dinning pass I would defiantly pack a cooler and have a picnic, waiting in line takes about about the same time as walking to the car. SF bans open flames in the lot. I wish I had a portable generator and could fry up some burgers in the lot with an electric griddle. Maybe sell a few for a profit. Lol. -

Of course the dry side was deserted, it was miserable outside today. Can't say I blame the emps for wanting to be somewhere else than a sauna. I bet they only had one OP running BK today as usual. Probably had some pencil pusher with a clipboard standing there watching him the whole time to make sure the ride was performing at peak efficiency. -

Will be sad to see it go if they completely gut it. Injun Joe and Mississippi Adventure used to scare the piss out of me as a tot. Does anybody have a graphic of the layout? Was always curious about that. Funny thing is I have no memory of the Pet a pet. -

Shouldn't have any problem finding rundown areas or rides. Excalibur seems abandoned every time I go to the dry side. YMMV. Instead of bringing a Coke can for a discount try a bag of Scott's Turfbuilder or some Roundup, they could use it. (My snarky comments of the day) I have found Tuesday-Thursday to be the best in general for crowds. I try to be a good boy when there so can't help with any secrets. The employees are great and that makes up for a lot of shortcomings. -

Just in case anyone is curious I was allowed to use both today. Edit: received an email last night stating I wasn't supposed to be able to do that, so the turnstile agent must have made a mistake. YMMV. -

SFSL Bring a Friend for $9.99 July 14-18 Choose One Day July 14-18 to Bring a Friend for $9.99 Present your valid 2014 Six Flags St. Louis Season Pass at the ticket booth on the date specified to purchase one general admission ticket for $9.99 plus tax. One discounted admission allowed per Season Pass Holder. Not valid with any other discount or with child or two-day tickets. Ticket obtained with this offer is only good on the date of purchase and cannot be sold. Valid only at Six Flags St. Louis on any regular operating day during the valid usage period below. Bring a Friend Free Jul 14-18 Choose One Day Jul 14-18 to Bring a Friend for Free Present your valid 2014 Six Flags St. Louis Gold Season Pass card at turnstiles on the date specified and receive one free general admission for a friend. Free friend must enter park when Season Pass is scanned for initial entry, Pass Holder may not re-enter with friend. Only one free friend per Season Pass Holder. Admission cannot be sold and is valid only at Six Flags St. Louis. The 9.99 one is "one discounted admission allowed" but the free one is not a discounted admission it is free. One is at ticket booth the other is at the turnstile. So in my opinion you can use both but I am not a lawyer, I just act like one online. I guess I will try calling them, I just don't have much luck with that. -

Solution for Line Jumpers

At least at my home park (SFSTL) the resources would be better spent with fully staffing the rides with OPs rather than a bunch of guards watching monitors. -

Sometimes you just arrive to late to the party to have any fun. This appears to be one if those times. If you go back 50 pages and read through you have a chance, may not even have to go that far back. -
Schlitterbahn Kansas - Verrückt Water Slide

This is funny. So 3 120lb teenage girls will not be able to ride together. They will have to bring along a male or one of their fuller figured friends. Average weight needs to be 133.33333333333lbs. Us fat guys can hang around the entrance and pick up hot girls that need someone to ride with them. The wife will not be amused. Both my boys are under 14 and 70lbs each and I was trying to figure out how to swing getting over there this summer. Oh well maybe in 5 years. Bummer. -

I am not sure how this is any different than Hucks. Splash Pads are a free neighborhood or city park attraction in my view. I want my family to have fun without waiting in line as well. This could be accomplished by a) adding more rides or b) consistently fully staffing the tube slides and Big Kahuna with OPs. Most of the time one side or the other is closed or only one OP, thus long lines. I have noticed some really entertaining OPs on Tornado recently but their antics slow down the turnaround to much. But if he wants more for the little ones to do without any guards I guess it makes sense. He could also send out less pencil pushers with clipboards and have them help throttle the lines. Why are you against getting a splash pad? I have a feeling you are thinking that they would market this as a new addition for the year. I'm sure there would be a brand-new ride in addition to this. I can't tell if that was sarcasm or not. Earlier comments on this thread indicated Dave (and presumably the corporate bean counters) did not want to expand HH in the near term. Nothing against a splash pad but thrilling rides would be my preference. If SF ads a new ProSlide and a splash pad, awesome. From the deteriorating landscaping and maintenance of the park it is clear "minimal staffing needs" is ruling the day. I am there on average twice a week and Big Kahuna is by far the most popular ride but rarely do they have two OPs running it so it is always at least a half hour wait even on cloudy weekdays.
