Also that with no transfer track, any work on the train had to be done in the station with the ride closed down. Maybe it will save time and money in the long term. It's also really nice to see them investing money in keeping the rides in the best possible working order, something the old kingdom definitely did not do.

So at first I really didn't care for a lot of the color choices KK has been making, but they're really starting to grow on me. All the new rides/ slides are painted a very BRIGHT shades of primary and secondary colors. It really gives KK almost a signature look. I feel like when I visit the park is painted just like the park map which is really cool. I think it is a good choice, especially given the drab, industrial area of town the park is in. It's also looking like this might actually be my first RMC since Lightning Rod doesn't look like its opening any time soon :/ I hope Storm Chaser doesn't have any unforeseen issues.

I went the Saturday after thanksgiving. Everything was an hour wait at least, even the cinnamon bread (worth it though!) Does Tennessee Tornado only run one train? It was the longest wait in the park. -

I'm going to get to go the week after next! What will the crowds be like on Monday and Tuesday (March 28-29)? Should I budget for one of the fast lane passes? I've only been once before and the park was PACKED. -
It looks like just the Lola side to me too, which I always thought was the better side. Lola had some good airtime hills. Stella had more and tighter curves which weren't comfortable in those old Gerstlauer trains. I can't wait!!! Okay I looked at it again and it looks like its mostly all Lola. Its been forever since I've been on either haha. I wonder if they're going to actually tear down all the rest of the ride? It would be cool to leave some of the other track and structure to make it look like a storm came though and that pieces of track are missing. Either way, this will be sweet!
-
It looks like it starts of on Lola's side and then comes back on Stella, with some of the remaining track missing. Like the cut the ride in half and connected it in a turn, which is cool because Lola had the better first half(drop/airtime hill) and Stella had the better end (circle). Also I love the naming throwbacks with the new coasters. Greased lightnin -> Lighntning run; Starchaser (the park's first coaster) -> Storm Chaser. And keeping with the weather theme for the coasters. T3 meaning storms are terrifying haha.

I completely disagree. Why would they remove major portions of the structure--particularly a lift hill--to replace just the tracks? The progress that had already made just screams I-box conversion to me. My guess would be they are shortening the layout quite a bit, making the ride single track with two/three trains and one/two lift hills, respectively. Maybe it could be getting a launch instead of a second lift hill! That would solve the height problem.

Went this weekend and finally got to ride T3! It was a blast. It is definitely not smooth, but its rough in an aggressive-fun way instead of painful way. I rode it a few times in a row, something that you couldn't have paid me to do with T2. The new restraints are great; you can even put your hands up. The line was packed as the day went on, so ride it early if you go. It desperately needs another train. Hopefully that is in the works Also, all the new attractions were really fun. Enterprise still makes me sick, and the new taco place is GREAT! 3.99 for chips, queso and a drink. Nice to be able to get a snack and not break the bank. Cyclos seems like a huge hit. And the park was PACKED all weekend, more crowded than I have ever seen it. Some things that could be worked on: Ride ops. They weren't bad per-se, but so slowwww for everything. Every ride seems to have a complicated, overly done safety procedure. It's even worse in the water park. They literally make you SIT on the inner tube in the lazy river; no laying on your stomach, no feet in the water, no sitting up, ONE approved position. Thats pretty ridiculous. Also the clothing policy needs to be reworked. You have to change into clothes to ride the swing ride thats in the waterpark? Put clothes on to walk by T3? Go back to the locker to put clothes on to get wet on raging rapids river ride? I'm not sure the reasons behind it, but if it was possible, I would make it to where you could wear bathing suits everywhere across the bridge, except for restaurants and roller coasters. I think that would be a good compromise. Other than that the park was great. Good selection of rides, the food is very good, the twins are progressing nicely, the landscaping looks great, and people seem to be loving it.

My "ghetto" comment wasn't directed at any specific race (there were far more examples of "white trash" at KK then at any other park I've been to), but IMO the park is not a nice-looking park at all, and the crowds themselves are very obnoxious. Smoking in queues, having obscene conversations, I could go on. There was a restaurant extremely visible coming into the water park with a torn facade, the very awkward layout of the entire place, the landscaping under LR (at least that one's been fixed by now). That's something that should've been a top priority. I've said a lot of bad things about the place, but I'll try and not do that anymore because I'm starting feel like a broken record. I just don't get how people can honestly say that KK is anywhere near the level of HW at this point. But to each their own, I guess. I'm glad the people of Kentucky have a park to go to once again, even if it wasn't my cup of tea. Hopefully when I go back I have a more positive experience. Why wouldn't we consider them in the same league? Before the park was sold to six flags, it had nearly 1.5 million people visiting it a year, way more than HW has ever had. They're about the same size in terms of attractions, and maybe most importantly, they're about an hour drive apart. I've been to KK plenty of times since it opened back and haven't been put off by the clientele; it's the standard amusement park fare. I also thought the landscaping was surprisingly nice considering its surrounded by highways/airports. Not saying it's as good of an experience as HW, but I'm sure KK is going to make it much harder for HW to continue to expand its market.
-
Why, exactly? HW is still in a different league than KK. An RMC will be an awesome addition to KK, but HW has nothing to worry about. People aren't going to ditch their plans to go to HW to go to KK, if anything they'll just make plans to stop by KK as well. People visiting will just visit both parks yeah, but I would say HW is losing out on a good bit of potential season pass holders with KK back online. I know I personally used to have a season pass to holiday world, but now have one to KK just because it's cheaper and closer to me. I'd say I'm not the only person in lousivlle that's done the same. I'd doubt a huge portion of HWs season passes came from lousivlle; but they had really pushed into the market since KK closed. Now they'll have some stiff competition in a market that just a few years ago seemed like low hanging fruit. Not trying to say that either park is going to be hurting for attendance, but KK has to be well on HWs radar at this point.

Actually I was talking about them also being able to use it to hide the Hellevator site, but now... I found one of MY uses for the fountain. UNDERCOVER UNICORN PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS: FRIENDS, wait for it.... AT KENTUCKY KINGDOM (Am I crossing TV series?) How cool would that be? The fountain and hellevator were there at the same time. The fountain kind of wrapped around it as you come in the park. I think the flutterfly is there now. This RMC hype is reaching critical mass. Lots many rumors from so many directions; I'd be surprised if it doesn't happen at this point. They have one ride designed by ride centerline and one retracked by RMC, so it would make sense that these guys are involved here. It would be so huge for KK. No park near KK is likely to get one anytime soon (or anything like it for that matter), so It will really give them something to advertise. I'd be a little worried if I were Holiday World. KI, will always be in another league, but KK and HW are competing for a lot of the same people now.
-
It would go something like this: "Were sorry for the delay; we're totally retrofitting the breaking system on T3 and want to make sure everything is in perfect condition before opening the ride to the public." KK press release "KK ride experiencing problems with malfunctioning break system!" CJ Headline "KK ride not fit for public opening! How in danger are your children? Find out at 11..." WAVE

Screamscape is saying that T3 might not be open for a few more weeks I was hoping to ride next weekend but oh well. I agree that there's no way they could give any real information about the delay without making the ride seem unsafe. But screamscape is also saying that locals had better take pictures of TT, because they will be changing SOON. A RMC overhaul will give KK a very solid lineup of coasters, putting it inline with holiday world in terms of coasters.
-
Yeah I didn't see anything let alone "many many many people bashing T3" I don't get why everyone loves it but they really do. I rode it once. Been many times but once was enough for me haha. It's not so much that it's rough, there are just about 5 moments where your head is just SLAMMED into the restraints. But new restraints really helped flight of fear at KI so maybe they can work some magic here too.
-
I get that they're having trouble with it; it's was shuttered for years and needed some major overhauls and parts from a manufacturer that has went though some revisions itself. But I don't understand why they didn't make some sort of announcement on Facebook about it, so people will know. I'd be upset if I'd planned a visit to the park this week and the new marquee attraction wasn't ready yet and no one told me about it :/. Just say something along the lines of "I know many of you are excited about the opening of T3, but to ensure its up to our strict safety standards we are going to delay opening a few weeks to compete more testing... Blah blah"
-
IDK if anyone else noticed this, but it looks like the Kumbak trains were being tested on Condor earlier this year, which likely means that those were the ones coming to KK, since its the only other coaster with the exact layout of T3. I think those trains looked much better; they're essentially just a lapbar! I know getting rid of the OTS restraints on flight of fear really REALLY improved that ride, so hopefully it does the same for T3 http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=56808&start=290
