  1. Thanks for the update HWFan. We are really excited for Frightfest, going at least twice.
  2. That would be cool to see. The only time I got to see an indoor ride with the lights on was getting stuck once on Space Mountain at WDW. We sat there for almost ten minutes with the lights on before they got it going again. It was pretty cool to see everything you can't see in the dark.
  3. Anybody do the Scooby-Doo-last-day-event after the park closed yesterday? There was a drawing for 25 slots or you could pay a $20 upcharge. Just curious how many times people got to ride, what the food and drinks were, etc.
  4. Same with us yesterday. I knew there were some "bring a friend free" days but forgot to look them up. I think there may be another one next Sunday. I have never seen the park so crowded on a non-Frightfest day. I heard someone say attendance was 17,000. Wait times for rides were longer than usual (mine train - 35 minutes, Pandemonium - 50 minutes, log flume - 25 minutes). The lunch time line at the pizza place by Superman was to the door, but it was fully staffed and the line moved well enough. On the other hand, the dinner line at Macho Burrito was around 20 deep out the door and was hardly moving for a while. We ended up waiting over an hour. I think they were short a person or two for a while and the line stacked up. We generally avoid free friend days and concerts and would have probably gone Saturday had I looked it up before making our weekend plan.
  5. We went on Saturday and had a great day. Crowds were light in the park. Longest wait we had was 10 minutes for Pandemonium (although my little guys aren't tall enough for Boss, American Thunder, Batman or Mr. Freeze, and I did not get a chance to see what those lines looked like). It was hot so I would imagine HH was pretty full. We easily processed our 2015 season passes and dining passes and picked up our cups and enjoyed some free beverages. We had no problems with service for our lunch and dinner. You can't beat the value of deal they put on this past weekend. HWFan, thanks for the heads up.
  6. So "Battle for Metropolis" is quite a mouthful. I think most people will call it Justice League.
  7. Obvious retheme to the ride. Probably themed to the Justice League. except that it looks like zombies. posted to throw off the Jutice League rumors? Fun that Dave is doing these teasers.
  8. Went to the park yesterday for last day of daily operations. Pretty decent sized crowd, felt like a Sunday, but there were moderate wait times on most rides. Looked like they may have been on one train operations on American Thunder because it had a pretty long line. Complaint for the day: we are on the dining plan and went to Macho Burrito at 4:40 for dinner and it was already closed. We then went to Mooseburger and it was already closed too. With the size of the crowd and the HH had not yet closed, I'm sure there were plenty of disappointed people on the dining plan looking for dinner. We ended up going to JB's which was pretty good, but they only have a few things available on the dining plan. If they are going to close a couple of the main restaurants early, that should be posted somewhere.
  9. People in the know here have said that the ride system will be replaced. The old boats are too hard/expensive to maintain.
  10. Justice League would be a nice way to bring the DC superheroes back into the park. I remember when the DC characters used to roam the park. It seems like they gradually cut back then did away with them completely a few years ago. I'm sure it was a cost-cutting move but does anyone have any other insight on that?
  11. Any thoughts on whether or not they might tear down the building and start over? It seems like excavating the waterway would be difficult with the building standing, or could they just fill it in and build on top of it?
  12. I understand that the ride is old and probably time to scrap it, but our family will miss Scooby Doo.
  13. Here is a photo I took this past Sunday. It looks ready to go except the queue needs a shade screen. Looks great and really brightens up that part of the park.
  14. Nice day at the park yesterday. Crowds were light (maybe because of the air show?) Screamin' Eagle had two train operation going, so nice, quick 10 minute wait. Smoothest ride I can remember in a while. Mine train was down all day. Only a ten minute wait for Pandemonium as well. We made it over to the studio backlot for the first time this year. Joker is always a hit with the kids. Paint job on Batman looks nice. I believe everything was up and running all day except mine train and tidal wave. Tsunami soaker looks ready to go. It looks very nice, but somewhat out of place, as someone else mentioned previously. I will try to post a pick. Overall a 6 flags day!
  15. quote "Tsunami is coming along nicely. Some ride employees got to ride it on Friday. I was not there but, I heard that you get wetter on Tsunami than you do on Tidal Wave" If riders do get that wet on it I'm going to wait for a really hot day to ride. I'll watch my kids ride it in the meantime and I'm sure they will have a blast! thanks for the update.
  16. Thanks for the info TNT. I was there when it opened and will always love screamin Eagle.
  17. We had a great six flags day on Sunday. We processed our passes last year so will be skipping the finger scan the whole year. The crowds were light and lines were generally short with the exception of Screamin Eagle. One train operation resulted in a 45 minute wait. I know staffing issues can be rough at the beginning of the season, but surely there must have been a way to get the necessary personnel there for two train operation, especially with Boomerang and Boss being down. (Unless there was something mechanically wrong with the blue train, I assume it was a staffing issue). Other than a few leftover leaves hear and there from the Fall, I thought the park looked clean. We have the season dining pass again this year and had lunch and dinner. All of our food was good, but we tend to order things that stay hot (chicken strips, corn dog, chili cheese dog) or are made to order (wraps, tacos, burrito). We ended the day at First Cone with two kids with big smiles on their faces, and said hi to Dave on the way out. Looking forward to a great season at SFSTL.
  18. Looking forward to opening weekend. Will be there on Sunday. First up will be the mine train with the kids (which was also my first roller coaster and will always be a sentimental favorite).
  19. It seemed like alot of the soaking we got on the splash battle at Legoland was from the stationary guns. It was a crowded day and the perimeter guns were fully manned and shooting at us non-stop. The boats moved pretty slow so the stationary guns could hold the water stream on you. A few of those hits in addition to the other boats shooting and you get pretty wet. Hopefully first time we are at SFSTL after TS opens is a warm day and I won't be such a wuss and will jump on with the kids.
  20. Has anyone ridden one of these before? We did the splash battle ride at Legoland California a couple years ago and got pretty wet, just wondering if I should expect the same. My kids are going to love it, but I am not a big fan of getting completely soaked unless it is a really hot day.
  21. I agree. If the technical issues TNT discussed can be solved, there are a number of different ways to address which trains are running. One way would be to run it reverse blast all the time (keep the recent theming), then add the forward launching train when they move to two train operation to give people the option. Looking forward to opening weekend!
  22. The reverse launch is fun, but I also prefer the forward launch. I wish they would do one side with a foward lauch and the other side with the reverse launch. (I think someone suggested that before.) Any of the ride ops here know if that would be possible?
  23. New to the forum (sort of). lurked for a while at sfstl.org forum, joined, posted a few times then it shut down. Lurked here for a while and am now joining. I do appreciate the insight and inside information from the current and former park employees. So I am one of those old guys who was there when the park opened. It was like Disneyland in our back yard. It will always be a magical place to me. I know there are those that are critical of SF corporate for the neglect of our park compared to some of the other parks in the chain, but I do know that our local team works hard and gives their best. I talk to Dave Roemer 3 or 4 times each season. As others have said, he is very engaging and enjoys talking to park patrons. I do think the park has been making incremental improvements over the last five or six years and I am optimistic the trend will continue. TNT, Mr. Freeze is my favorite ride in the park, slightly ahead of Batman. BTW all, SFSTL has more roller coasters than all 4 parks in WDW combined. Mike
