Phantasialand Discussion Thread
DaveDowning replied to roeterich's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This was obviously a trip related to EAS. if premier were involved, they wouldn't give it away months before track is installed. My personal opinion is that this will either be another Intamin worlds-first (think Chiapas as a coaster) or a Beemer. -
Europa Park Discussion Thread
DaveDowning replied to Ultracoasters's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Lol, that Zombie Stuff is such a Walking Dead ripoff.. unbelievable But nothing new for Europa Park, they do great attractions and theming but everything is copied.. -
Well, judging from the video, the show was not that great anyway, so I don´t feel so bad about this. Quick question: Is anyone from here around for Horror Nights on the 5th of October or in the park for the following two days? We´re flying in from Germany for our first trip to Florida ever. And we love meeting new people. So if someone wants to meet up, let me know! Trip Report will follow of course.

Phantasialand Discussion Thread

Well Phantasialand got so much hate on the internet for delaying Chiapas, so I can understand why they don´t tease the next big thing (especially as Chiapas just opened this season - I´m quite sure the first teaser will come during winter opening). Yes, I mean the tunnel. But there were some changes recently: On the left hand side, there are six footers visible, each have the typical big "screws" sticking out. On the right hand side, at the far end of the concrete wall, there are two supports with (I think) 8 "screws" sticking out. I´ll send you a pm -

No, that won´t make sense. The Pit they dug there is by far not wide enough to have a station sitting there. So it´s either a tunnel or a launch. Plus, setting the station right in the middle of the new sector does not make sense at all. And you would have foundations poured all over the pit, not just two walls, the station needs to sit on a foundation aswell... But you can clearly see that these are typical footers for coasters. I can´t say if it´s B&M style as I couldn´t get a top view to see the so-called "Almond-Cutout". There are some footers with 4 screws and some with 8, but none with the typical B&M six so far. -

There´s some news from the construction site at my homepark. I visited myself this weekend to confirm what I saw on pictures, and I can tell you that there are coaster footers visible on the new construction site (old western town). Officially, Phantasialand does not allow pictures posted on the internet, so I won´t do it. I can send you something via PM if you are interested. I cannot tell you if they are the typical B&M Footers, because you cannot see a lot from the distance, but the closest resembling thing to what is there looks like this: But, it looks like we´ll see a new (launched ?) coaster at Phantasialand soon ! -

Awesome ride! This has me exited and planing for Sweden in 2016. And it´s not even that far from Germany. But Helix alone couldn´t justify cancelling my Florida Trip in October. This just looks really forceful, a good combination of Airtime and Inversions and a great length of ride, using wonderful terrain. On the topic of Wildfire being a game changer or not: I think it is a game changer - not on the technical side (i.e. type of ride, elements etc.) but rather regarding what this will do to the amusement industry in Sweden and Europe in general. I remember reading a report by a german coaster magazine - covering the new Heide Park Winger and Chiapas at Phantasialand, stating that germany was leading in amusement parks in Europe and far ahead of other countries. Well, that statement turned out to be very wrong today. First Helix, now this. And german parks focus on family rides and best agers. This might change when those rides and Sweden are done and draw some serious crowds. I can quite literally compare this to when Phantasialand build Black Mamba in 2006. Not a completely new type of attraction, but it was the first time (apart from some old Vekoma loopers) that a park in Germany opened a SERIOUS looping coaster. And all the other parks followed them. Europa Park built Blue Fire in 2009 (after saying for ages that inverting rides don´t fit into a family oriented park) and other rides like Fluch von Novgorod at Hansa Park followed. I see Wildfire as a similar thing, but on a larger (Europe-Wide) scale -
Na I think Bolliger is just not saying that much because it´s the style of B&M, they never where as open and never gave as much insight as any other manufacturer. They left that to their customers, and I think that is a very cool and professional way of dealing with PR. You even save money as you don´t need a PR Dept. Keep in mind, the people working there are, more or less, nerds. Not necessarily the guys that would make the things they do bigger then they are. They just like designing cool products and selling them. All the rest is, and I think thats the right attitude, the problem of the customer. If they want to report everything about their coaster, they can do it. If they don´t, they don´t.

Just after seeing it for the first time, big, compliments from my side on that Video, Robb. It´s awesome. I´ve been reading here for so long, never registering, but this Video (plus the News from Hansa Park that kinda got lost in all that IAPA Awesomeness) got me into registering. If you look at this video and really listen to what the people are telling, the way the Interviews are done reveal much more than the videos in the last years (I watched the 2012 one too as a lurker). I mean, you can always ask B&M if they´d do a winged hyper or an inverting hyper, and they will always say "Yeah, well we might". But with questions like this, there is really some informative cool stuff coming up. Especially from Vekoma, Gravity Group, RMC, S&S and Premier. Great Info, thanks! Just one question? What about Intamin? I would love to learn more about what they´re up to, especially their Project with my home park (Phantasialand) which seems a bit screwed ..

Hansa Park Discussion Thread
DaveDowning replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don´t really know what to think of this. I would have expected any addition from Hansa Park, but a Hyper ? Would they try and beat Shambala for the European Height Record ?? Also I have no clue about the manufacturer. I think we can exclude Mack. If they built the largest coaster in Europe, it would be at Europa Park. I would tend to lean towards B&M... -
