  1. I know I'm responding to stuff that's a little old, but people who think that cheap tickets somehow indicates that My Olynpus is in trouble don't really get (IMO) how the Mt. Olympus business model works. They don't really care about having people pay to get into the park - they really want people to stay in all the many many cheap motels they've bought throughout the Dells, the park is just the carrot to get the people to book hotel rooms... That's why they spend as little as possible on the park (including on maintainace and the quality of their employees). They just do the minimum amount of upgrading to get people interested.
  2. The place will most likely be mobbed because it's also fright fest opening weekend In my experience, while all of Fright Fest tends to be very crowded, it's lighter at the beginning and gets worse as the month goes on. So this weekend will certainly be busy, but will very likely be better than later in October.
  3. People seem to forget that the Southwest Amphitheater was at the very end of SWT and didn't really fit in either (at least not with the "Operation Spygirl" paint job it had for the last decade or so of it's life). If they decide to just make that little corner of Southwest Territory part of County Fair instead and move the Southwest Territory to the other side of the ride, I don't see how that hurts the theme at all.
  4. I was wondering if that was some sort of hint also...but I looked at an archived version from 2014 that also said 14, so they must count it as two.
  5. What's in the video description also seems noteworthy: "The road to #SFGAM2016 has begun! Can you figure out what we are up to? You may think you know...but we're not so sure you do." Which tells me that maybe it's NOT the most obvious thing (the Justice League dark ride)...
  6. Very much a matter of opinion. Personally, I can't imagine it ever being worth it. You're kidding, right? I get that the cost might be a bit much, but I visited on a Wednesday (granted it was in July), and every major ride had at least an hour wait, many had more than that. We only stopped to hit up Goliath and RB, but if we would've stayed the whole day we would've felt the need to get a FP. No. Maybe this is an unpopular opinion on a site such as this, but there are more important things than how many rides you can get on in a day (things like food and shelter and bills). If you can afford it and choose to spend your money in such ways, go for it, but for me the cost of a theme park ticket itself is a big investment (especially if my entire family is attending), and the idea of paying a few times more than that is just horrifying to me. In my formative years going to theme parks, Flash Pass didn't exist (and even if it did, my family was frugal, I can't imagine we would have gotten it). If I wanted to go on a good ride I knew I'd be waiting an hour or two, and if I didn't think that was worth it, then I just wouldn't go on the ride. I get that people have more options now, but it seems strange to me that waiting in line seems so inconceivable to people these days.
  7. I guess it just all depends on the kind of person you are. For myself, I know the guilt of spending that much money would ruin my day more than any lines ever could...
  8. Very much a matter of opinion. Personally, I can't imagine it ever being worth it.
  9. Do you really think anybody working there would have any idea why they show it?
  10. Is it the same entrance as the discovery card entrance? At least when I was there a few weeks ago, it was on the other side of the entrance plaza from the Discover Card entrance.
  11. No, you really don't NEED it. Plenty of people have perfectly nice days there without spending close to twice what it cost to get in. I guess if you have the money and have nothing better to spend it on, go for it, but to some people (like me) that's a LOT of money, and I really don't think anybody should be made to feel like there's no point going if they're not going to spend over $100 a person.
  12. Mt. Olympus is usually very cheap to get into (and stay at), and, well, you basically get what you pay for. If you go in with low expectations I personally think it's fine, but for some people (such as my wife, unfortunately) it's just too trashy to ever consider going to again.
  13. Just curious where you're getting this info (or is it just speculation?) because I haven't seen it anywhere else, and it's not really the most logical thing - it's certainly possible that it's what they're doing, but it makes way more sense to resurrect Hometown Park instead.
  14. The funny thing is, on a lot of years the opening weekend of Fright Fest is very light compared to other weekends of Fright Fest. It's just a pretty busy park in general. I think opening weekend was busy this year because the weather was nice, but in future years I really don't recommend waiting until later in the year because it's usually not going to get any better (unless, again, the weather is bad). Historically when they've been open past Halloween, those days have been pretty dead, so I'm hoping that happens again this year.
  15. You can try to take a taxi or an Uber? Seems like it might be about $50 each way, which seems like a lot, but might be better than renting a car for two days?
  16. I know they are also doing it for Superman (http://www.ridesupermannow.com) and I saw a claim that they were doing it for X-Flight, but I don't know the website for that one.
  17. Well, the press release wasn't just for the entrance, it was for the whole project. But here's what the webpage says: "Completely refresh the Carousel Plaza and Hometown Square sections of the park bringing back a nostalgic and classic feel to these signature territories" and "We’ll refresh these two popular and most-traveled areas with brighter colors, new paint, beautiful landscaping, and additional areas to rest and relax, as well as make updates to your favorite rides in the areas." So, I don't think they're really doing a whole remodel as much as they're going to paint and plant some more trees and put in some benches.
  18. No. It's just a little kiddie ride (that nobody appears to have a picture of).
  19. They haven't officially said this (maybe at the event today?) but it makes massive amounts of sense for them to be going in the old Hometown Park area (where I believe they were originally) - It's covered up now by a basketball game, but you can see from overhead maps that all the ride pads are still there. And they keep going on and on about Hometown Square, which is where those rides would be, so it doesn't make any sense to put them in County Fair.
  20. And here's a link to a cached version of it. It's definitely real, although maybe not final because there is at least one typo in it: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:jCAHEY-w9tgJ:https://blog.sixflags.com/greatamerica/atttractions/40-seasons/facts+&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us
  21. I disagree. It looks to me like a Six Flags logo over an old Marriott Great America Logo. I'm guessing it's going to be a "40 Seasons" logo. If there's coaster track back there too, it's probably just because that's the background picture of the park they used.
