  1. A meet up sound like a great idea ill let you know closer to my trip
  2. this is exactly the same sort of thoughts i had after starting to look into it, i also think theming plays a big part of a good theme park but this can get difficult for a private park to find the rights to something know to the public like a cartoon character.
  3. Reading anther topic on here about Golden age theme park got me thinking about if i was going to design my own theme park how would i build a theme park that was going to be a profitable business. What sort of attractions would the park need ? What could you do to make a new park stand up and be noticed ? I would look at this as a privately owned park not a billion dollar franchise so throwing money on the new biggest best roller coaster wouldn't be an option. could such a park even exist in today's economy ?
  4. Hi my names Jeff I'm from Australia i have 15 credits to my name at the moment I have been a long time reader of TPR (probably read 90% of the TR's) and i thought id get more involved and actually join the site and hopefully i can make it on some trips in the future.
  5. Im getting the chance in a couple of months to go to the states and ride the rollercoaster i read about every day, That thought alone can make me happy at any time
  6. my favorites are Wicked Book of Mormon Avenue Q Witches of eastwick (the stage musical not the horrible 80's movie) I really could keep going on and i am really looking forward to seeing a lot of shows live on broadway later this year
  7. Thanks for the advice, does anyone know of the best places to stay around Jackson/ Hershey ?
  8. thanks for the reply i was planing on getting a flash pass for six flags already, do the parks tend to be any more crowded with them only opening on weekends at this time of year ?
  9. I may be against the rule here as i assume quite a lot of member have a certain nostalgia for the years gone by theme parks. But i believe such a concept wouldn't be a viable idea as the market in theme parks has changed. Back in the 20's-30's the rides and roller coaster were state of the art but today most people have been on or see them before. We live in an age of technology and the general population are always looking for the newest best thing. While i think such a park will have a market i don't think the market would be strong enough to reimburse the start up cost and keep the park going.
  10. Hi I am planning a trip to the USA (from Australia) and hitting some theme parks is a must. I will be in New York for a bit over a week 2 May - 11th May and i was planning to hire a car for 2-3 days and drive to Hershey Park and Six Flags Great Ad my question's are you able to see these parks in a day each or would i need longer, i am mainly going for the roller coasters and it will be just a Friend and myself, so we wont really be interested in kids rides etc. Also would you have any recommendation of accommodation, other thing to do while in the area or a better trip idea ? Thanks
  11. im 25 now my first coaster was the Bush beast and the now non existent Sydney Wonderland when i was 11yo
  12. My favorite would be the giant drop at Dreamworld Australia, it was the tallest until LL DOD as far as i know, it give great views and good free fall
