  1. Shockwave was initally gonna be sent to another park, so I'm sure the whole structural issues thing is true.
  2. I really don't have anything to contribute, except to say that SFOT wasn't really that spoiled.
  3. Went out to the park today, and it appears that there's gonna be a double up after the drop on the new version. It looks pretty wicked right now. The pull out from the drop looks like it's gonna kinda tight and forceful, too.
  4. Not sure what groove you're talking about, but the trains will likely be very similar to, if not the same as normal wooden coaster trains. The track is of nearly identical gauge and shape as the old wooden track. The bolt strips are in areas that the wheels wouldn't normally travel on without some sort of major malfunction, anyways. If you check out this picture, you'll see that the old steel rails would almost fit inside the area where the bolts currently are.
  5. They gave ACErs 1 lap each, the ride still won't open for another week, so obviously something's not ready.
  6. I pay off my cards every month, so I never run into interest, I get cash back. 5% discount + cash back, sounds good to me. During July, Discover is offering 5% cash back on any purchases made at amusement parks.
  7. I use mine every time I buy something at SFOT for the 5% discount, I kinda like it.
  8. Well, yeah, it wouldn't be quite that simple, but the new track appears to be the exact shape/guage of the old track, so it wouldn't be like trying to put wooden trains on Gemini or anything.
  9. If you just swapped out the steel wheels for poly/nylon ones, a wooden train could probably run on it, I'd think.
  10. Nope. Never has been announced. http://rcdb.com/4520.htm RCDB is pretty reliable, are you suggesting he just pulled the number out of thin air? Obviously the rides not going as fast as it used to. They're fairly reliable, but not infallible. If Robb says neither Intamin nor KD have stated the 79.5, then I kinda question where he got the info. A random guy with a radar gun?
  11. It's probably for the wheels. Titan at SFOT (which has also shredded quite a few wheels in its day) has those installed on the brake run to spray the wheels of every train that comes in.
  12. I saw this ad today on weather.com and thought it was pretty funny, given previous discussions in this thread:
  13. Don't think this video has been posted, yet: I'd suggest starting at 2:30
  14. They stopped because the show was over, and they left the stage. The crowd took it upon themselves to storm the stage at the end of the show, from what I can gather, and then they didn't leave the stage. Not necessarily saying SF was in the right, but the crowd clearly was to blame as well.
  15. Not sure why you feel like it's okay to just run up on stage because you want to. As far as I can tell, the band didn't actually tell them to come up there. In the video I saw, everyone just started running up there.
  16. Just for reference, according to some videos on YouTube, the band has performed at SFOT before without incident. Looks like they were there with a tour in 2008.
  17. I305 is gonna go down in history as fail less than this post will.
  18. You see it from the road on the way to work. I see it from inside the park. Hmmmm... Yeah, I get the feeling he's looking at it from inside the park, as well. Heh, that's just how he talks. He's always like that.
  19. Here's 2 pictures I've taken since I last posted in this thread: Ruined by the junk on the platform, but I still like it. Taken October 30, 2005 at 10:56 PM, according to the photo info.
  20. But that won't work at SFA,which uses ride exits as their flashpass entrances,SFOT & the other parks have been adding big E-ticket rides(ie coasters) in the years since flashpass was implemented with that in mind with regards to how the queue lines are designed & built while SFA has not seeing as how they've lost more rides than they've installed over the course of the last ten years. SFOT's only received 2 Flash Pass rides since it's been implemented, I believe (STOP in 2003, THBS in 2008). These rides both have dedicated Flash Pass lines, but the other rides use existing or modified line/station entrances.
  21. Whats wrong with (Premiers). They seem like good rides to me. Joker's Jinx at SFA spent it's longest downtime in 2006 when it needed a part. But ever sense then it has been running fine. In think it could use the same prep that Poltergeist gets, given the fact that Poltergeist is a lot faster than Jinx. But other than that, I could possibly see a lot of unique attractions coming to Six Flags parks with Alexander Weber as CEO. Paramount's parks tried to build different things, to let them stand alone from other theme parks. Volcano, was very unique, given the fact that they only built one. You never know, maybe one day we will see a (Premier) suspended launch. Thats if the company was willing to pay them the money to design something like that. I don't understand why you have such a hardon for Premier. They're no better/worse than any other manufacturer.
  22. Maybe parks just need to implement Flash Pass better? At SFOT, the Flash pass line merges with the regular line just before the station in most cases. Exceptions that I can think of are Bobsled, Gold River, and the log flume (Flash Pass only uses Flume 2, though, can't get on Flume 1 with it).
