-
I tried dunking one of my ferrets in a glass of Rogue Chocolate Stout last night. Bad idea! Tom
-
Dave, you have a golden ticket. You don't need an invitation to the Post Eastcoaster Party!!! Tom

I have an Ovation Standard Baladeer, Kramer Striker, Jackson Rhoades EX and a Fender Deluxe Strat Plus (American Made). And, no they didn't get taken down off the wall. Nice pics, Adam. Tom

^ Adam, Heath brought out a bottle of the Hercules IPA to my place last time he was over. It's pretty good, you should like it.
-
Well, Just like Derek, the Flyers are down 2-0 tonight to the Habs. I guess it's time for more beer, courtesy of Heath. Very unique! Not bad. Not as hoppy as I would have expected but pretty good. Thanks Heath!!! Terrapin Rye Pale Ale. And just as I open this, the Flyers just scored!!!! I don't care how it tastes, just send more my way, Heath!!!!
-
Uh-Oh, Derek's 0 for 2 so far. Oh well, I tried!!! Anyway, for tonight's (first) selection, I went with something generously donated to me from Heath Not bad. Hoppy but still tasty!!! Thanks Heath!!! Frostbite!!!!

So Heath, what did you think of the LH Oktoberfest? Tom
-
Oh great, now I'm going to have to pull of that faucet and have it sterilized or else I'm going to have Heath flavored Hop Back (Heath Back?) Tom (I'm lucky I checked that picture out BEFORE I tap another!!!)

It's thirsty Thursday and I've got a Bubba sized thirst. Hmmmmmm, wonder what I'm going to do about that? 34 ounces of sweet wheat bliss!!! I can't even see my bald spot from this angle! Gonna fill that BUBBA up with some Dreamweaver!!! There's big, and then, there's BUBBA!!!!
-
Sure, Heath, you can come live with me!!! But bring some beer as, believe it or not, my supply is starting to dwindle!! And yes Derek, I am still alive. Just picked up a new camera phone which is much easier to lug around with me than the regular camera so, I should be contributing more to the Derek, Heath and Wally show. Well, just to stay on topic, I didn't drink anything last night. Probably due to the 5 pints of Dreamweaver I had on Tuesday night. I should have a few tonight. My next door neighbor is away on vacation for the weekend so, I'll have a few while swimming in his pool. Then I'm going to lock his gates closed (revenge for him TP'ing my back patio last summer).

Well, I kicked my keg of Hoegaarden on Sunday so, I needed something in a pinch. Went to the local distributor and found this... Not as good as Hoegaarden but a decent substitute! Troegs DreamWeaver Wheat. Keeping it local!!!

Bought my wife a new car tonight (06 Pontiac Torrent). Decided to celebrate with a little Weyerbacher Quad.

My neighbors down the street love Stella. It's not bad but, when I think of Belgian beers, I think Ales, not Lagers. Kinda reminds me of Heineken without the road kill skunk aroma. Interesting side note; 4 years ago when I moved into my house, I met my neighbors and one of them (Tony) told me "Yeah, this is a great neighborhood. As long as you like Coors Light, you'll fit in fine." I turned to my wife and said "Uh-Oh!" Well, it took a few years but I have definitely influenced them enough that they don't buy Coors Light anymore and I've turned them on to the wonderful world of Microbrews. Jake, my next door neighbor recently told me he can't drink "regular" beer anymore. Just about brought a tear to my eye! Last summer I turned them on to Dos Equis, and Tecate became our official brew of the summer (they always liked Corona, I don't). This year will be the summer of Hoegaarden. I think Derek and Adam will attest that I live in one of the greatest neighborhoods in the world. Very nice pics, Derek and Bret! Hopefully, everyone had a good time and thanks to all for coming out and contributing to the "Beervintory." Tom

Tonight, I tried a new brew... Stone IPA. As Lil Jimmy Norton (Happy Birthday Jimmy!) would say, it's Phenominal. Very smooth hop flavor, nice mild alcohol bite. Overall, a very nice purchase. And I still have 23 left. Better get drinkin' before I.P.Adam gets here on Friday!!! Stone IPA - This may challenge Victory Hop Devil as my favorite IPA (Cool painted label on the bottle too!!!) Me doing the "Confused Derek" face!!

Actually, the Belgian Fruit Lambics are quite good. I would say that Lindemans Brewery makes the best. They have a Cherry, Raspberry, Peach and my favorite, Black Currant. De Troch brewery has some very good Lambics as well. I especially like the Chapeau Banana and while the Chapeau Fraises (Strawberry) was a little sour, it was still pretty good. Of all the Lambics I've had I would rate them this way: 1) Lindemans Cassis (Black Currant) 2) Chapeau Banana 3) Lindemans Peche (Peach) 4) Lindemans Framboise (Raspberry) 5) Lindemans Kriek (Cherry) 6) Leifmans Kriek 7) Chapeau Fraises (Strawberry) 8) Lindemans Gueze (No fruit - Straight Lambic) I never really had a pallete for Wheat Beers but I do enjoy the occasional HefeWeizen now and then. I prefer more of a vanilla clove flavor over the banana. I also do enjoy Petes Wicked Strawberry Blonde. Nice and refreshing on a hot summer day. Fruit beers aren't bad, as long as there is a good balance.

What Is This? A NEW Beer from Anheuser-Busch
DorneyDude replied to PhishyBrewer's topic in Random, Random, Random
Hmmmmmm, so it's a Lager but it appears to be dry hopped with Cascades, which are pretty much all purpose hops. I think we can probably rule out Helles since I would assume this mystery beer would have a hoppier flavor than the average Helles. I would also probably rule out a Marzen or Oktoberfest beer, since it's a little early to be brewing that (unless this is a 3 month advanced test batch). A-B already has an American Lager (Budweiser). I don't really know of any mass produced Bocks or Dunkels to use dry hopping in the recipe so, I would probably rule those out as well. My guess would be a Pilsner. Wally, does A-B produce Winter's Cask Ale??? I was at a bar near work last Thursday and they were pushing that like crazy. I tried one. It was decent. Had an OK flavor but the finish was rather lacking. -
That's a pretty nice looking bar setup you have there Tom. So how do you like the Delerium Tremens? I see it all the time at my local place and was wondering how it is. I'm not a huge fan of Belgian Ales but I'm always up for trying a highly recommended one. Thanks! I'm quite proud of it, although since I am starting to homebrew more, I may have to add a third tap. Delerium Tremens is one of the Belgians I cut my teeth on. It's not as smooth or complex as St. Bernardus Abt 12, but it's common (for a Belgian) and very good. Bethlehem Brew Works had it on tap a while back at their Steelgaarden lounge and I found it to be so much more drinkable than out of the bottle. Either way, it's definitely worth a try.

I got a Hoover Floor Mate, some shirts, a Cocktail Carousel, ca$h, and about $110 worth of gift certificates to the local beer distributor. But the best gift I got this year (and probably ever) has to be the case of St. Bernardus Abt 12 (My 2nd favorite beer!!!) YUM!

Crap! I may need to find a new mass consumption beer.
DorneyDude replied to CoasterFanatic's topic in Random, Random, Random
It would certianly qualify as a mass consuption beer in Pa. I believe they currently have 3 breweries (2 in Pa, 1 in Fl) and I wouldn't consider them a "Micro Brewery" but I'm not sure how far their distribution goes. I'd probably put them in the "Regional Brew" category. Yuengling Lager would probably be a decent replacment for Iron City. They are both Lawnmower beers, IMO. -
Excellent. That is one of my faves. Have you got any Mad Elf for the holidays yet? I can't say that I've ever tried the Mad Elf. The Troegs beers I'm quite fond of are the Hop Back, Nut Brown and Troegenator
