  1. ^ Indeed I am, but it also says "Why would you ever visit the park alone when you can bring your best friend for 50% off the adult general admission price EVERY time you visit?" and "Tell them you are a Diamond Elite Member and you have a friend with you who needs a ticket. They will sell you a regular, general admission ticket good for that day for 50% off the regular adult general admission price." For me I'm reading into the emphasis on the singular "friend" and "ticket" - I was almost wondering if anyone had done it yet to know if it really is unlimited or if I'm correct in interpreting their language as "singular use per visit, but you can use it every visit"
  2. Looks like its zippered pockets and lockers for me then! One more question because I would hate to find out when we get there that I understood it wrong. Is the 50% off tickets for friends discount limited to one friend per visit? I feel like it has a limit of 4 but as I looked at it in member services it seems to refer to the discount in a singular fashion. Honestly my hope is to get at least two of the three folks I'm bringing gold plus passes so that they arent always waiting for bring a friend days at our home park to go (plus fright fest, because they like that), but if I cant convince them to pay $7 a month, I'm sure they'd much rather pay $35 for a ticket over $70. Especially since we're going to be there for two days.
  3. Probably a novice question, but one I’ve completely forgotten to ask, does this park have bins at most rides (minus the three earlier mentioned coasters I believe) for bags and cups what not? I know it varies from park to park. Darien Lake for example is much better in my opinion when I have a bag to store all my things in, whereas Cedar Point for example is a no bag park for me because of how many rides are “put it in a locker or leave with a non rider”
  4. In their defense, that old logo is just YouTube overlaying their avatar on the video. It's not like they just threw a Six Flags logo on an old branded video and re-uploaded it. Not that its all that hard to change a youtube avatar but that's all that really is.
  5. ^ not sure when you went but on this past Friday it sounded just as it always has. The park has never really had superb acoustics with the exception of *maybe* the park entrance and parts of the Boardwalk. Areas near viper, mind Eraser, rolling thunder, sky screamer and even the main midway with silver bullet and haymaker are all pretty much silent when it comes to music. I’m not even sure they have the infrastructure for it in those parts. Main entrance towards boomerang and branching off to both RoS and the Boardwalk seem to be the only zones with actual music playing.
  6. Personally I prefer the state park over the dated Clifton Hill when exploring the falls. Yes, the city of Niagara Falls, USA is a dump, but the park that you need to go to to actually see the falls in my opinion is much nicer than the sidewalk you get to use on the Canadian side. Though there is much more to do, Clifton Hills from an attraction standpoint is all very tourist trappy with expensive parking and shady hotels (mixed with really nice ones which always makes me laugh). A benefit of the USA side is parking in the state park lot is usually free after 7pm in the off season and after 9:30pm or 10pm in the summer months. (Perfect for when you want to drop by and see the fireworks!) All of that being said I totally waste my money on the Canadian side way more than I should, I’m a local and they still get me to spend, spend, spend! TL:DR Both sides kinda suck for what it’s worth. And both sides also kinda don’t suck for what it’s worth. Seems to boil down to personal opinion when it comes to the actual falls themselves
  7. Trust me, the in park audio is new as of this week. It’s at the volume it’s typically at for the park now - you’re right, it’s not super loud but that’s kind of the point. It seems like they haven’t quite figured out Boardwalk’s music just yet but I’m not surprised since it was always different from the rest of the park since the 2013 season. I wonder if they had to figure out licensing for music they used within the park under new management? Maybe that’s why it was quiet for a bit? I also noticed the music they were playing was different than what they used to play... they even updated the laser show’s preshow music since the first time I saw the show this year, which I of course was happy about!
  8. ^ Aren’t those trains original to the coaster? I’m surprised they have a life span of 24 years... even RoS had its train upgraded in 2017 I believe and it’s two years newer than ME. Out of the two Vekomas at the park I’d say the boomerang train has held up MUCH better than the Mind Eraser train. It seems to provide a much more comfortable experience, especially compared to other boomerangs I’ve been on. Mind Eraser however isn’t necessarily the same case. If the second train is getting some SLC TLC, I wonder if that means we’ll have two Franken-trains or if that means train 1.5 is going to get ripped apart again too? Either way if it happens this season, I applaud everyone involved. Even if it happens next season, it’s just good to see some progress!
  9. This is exactly what I thought it was. An old train from another park that they can just throw on the tracks and let it run. Like their way of saying “we heard you, here’s that second train you wanted so bad”. I’d love for Mind Eraser to get the SFNE treatment but that won’t happen this year. If anything I’m glad they’re at least making an effort - even if it’s minimal - to get coasters running at a higher capacity
  10. An interesting development near Mind Eraser today... of all coasters, this is the one that may get a second train? ... alright I suppose
  11. ^ So the policy applies to Kingda Ka, El Toro and what other rides?
  12. ^ does their loose article policy allow for items in zippered pockets or is it a no tolerance nothing allowed policy like Steel Vengeance was?
  13. I believe it’s mypass.sixflags.com - that’s where I’ve been going. It’s a little out of the way to get to it currently but if you go to the season pass / membership section of the six flags site there is a link to it. Once you log on, you’ll be able to add passes, see discounts, reserve parking (if applicable) and all that good stuff. The mobile site isn’t great but it’s a start - and it finally works for Darien Lake!
  14. ^ I’d assume Grizzly isn’t all that easy to edit into the photo the way thunder rapids is. Just be glad those rides are actually at the park (or used to be in the case of TR). Remember this is six flags now, most all their marketing is generic and used for every park.
  15. ^ Tim Horton’s and Beaver Tails are all that’s truly needed, the park could close every other food location and I’d be content.
  16. Meanwhile - all I want is for the app to include the park so I can see my discounts and rewards and what not in a quick and easy fashion like the other parks. Currently I have “my park” set to Great Adventure to get the jist but it would be nice to not have to log into the mobile member services portal and re-log in every time I want to check on something.
  17. Hey there! A couple of friends and I are looking to visit Six Flags Great Adventure June 18-19 and I figured I’d come here for some tips / tricks and maybe get a few questions answered. Both of those days on the app say they are scheduled to be open 10:30am - 8:00pm. Would this mean they expect lighter crowds (similar to how Canada’s Wonderland is) or is that a total staffing thing? Typically of course, I understand there are exceptions. Being a Diamond Elite member I know they allow for 50% off of the gate price, but does anyone know what the gate price actually is? I’d assume it’s more than they advertise a day pass for online? And are there any discounts that day that are cheaper than the 50% off that anyone knows of? My mobile portal only sometimes works for other parks outside of Darien Lake when it comes to ticket discounts... Also, speaking of the Diamond Elite thing. I’m given two skip the line / single use flash passes, is this only applicable for me or for my entire party (of 4 total)? I thought it was only for the pass holder but I guess Darien Lake and Great Escape and possibly other parks do it for the group? I assume it would be different for one of the larger six flags parks but I have no clue! Lastly, are there any hidden gems in the park we should know about? This being our first trip out, I’m hoping to get the best experience we can since we may not be back for a while. Thanks!!
  18. ^ though I hope that it was just because it was opening day - I was there May 18 and the entire queue house was full. I’m not sure how long of a wait that equates to but that’s something rarely seen at Darien Lake at more than Ride of Steel so I’d say the attraction was pretty successful
  19. ^ this is true. However I was referring to the nostalgia of the Fright Night Field Trip busses specifically. I don’t believe there was any large haunt experience like that last year and also as a result no large set pieces scattered throughout the park to advertise it. There was signage in the areas that had scare zones and mazes but not much else. And that’s fine because they only had 3 months and what I’d assume was a pretty limited budget to get that event up and running. Now that they’ll have a full year, I’m hopeful (and I know others are too) that this year’s Fright Fest will be better and hopefully continue to improve. Still no word on Holiday in the Park, but I’d assume if that were to be a thing, we’d find out in August with all the other new stuff Six Flags announces all at once.
  20. ^ I used to love the old vibe that Fright Fest had leading up to the event. Like how they had the Fright Night Field Trip busses scattered throughout the park playing the random Halloween sounds and adding to the atmosphere in late August. I wonder if they’ll do anything similar to that in the weeks leading up to the event this year - but I’m not gonna be holding out for anything. Only time will tell what they accomplish this time around
  21. Hence why it’s surprising that there is no sponsor for the show at all. I could be wrong but this is the first time in recent memory that there is not a sponsor for the laser show. At least for the past 10-15 years the show has been sponsored by either Tops, Wegmans or Labatt Blue. Yet this year, there is no big sponsor at all. I wonder if Tops just dropped sponsorship too late in the game for Darien to get another sponsor to cover for them. Which also makes me wonder if they’ll change where you can get discount tickets. Since for the last few years I’m pretty sure it’s been exclusively Tops
  22. ^ Yes indeed - same guy ^^ in years past Wegmans and Labatt Blue also sponsored the show, I’m surprised neither of them signed back on. But seeing how well the show was produced this year, I don’t know that either would need to. Are other six flags shows sponsored?
  23. ^ I saw it last night and have to admit I enjoyed this one more than I was expecting to. Big thing to note for those who care, this year the show is not sponsored. Whether this means Six Flags didn’t find it necessary anymore (which I don’t think is the case), or Tops simply wasn’t interested anymore (which I’d assume is more likely), I don’t know. Though there was a split second Pepsi Ad during the Havana segment. Since I’ve been a huge fan of the show for the past 11 years and have seen the show at least 4 times every year since 2008 (admittedly WAY too much in the past couple years), I’d have to say this was one of my favorite editions of the production since I’ve been interested in it. Maybe it’s just the increased funds to the show (assuming maybe that happened?) but the graphics and animations seemed better, the laser effects from the FOH beams were more customized and specific (especially during Havana and the Dua Lipa song - the one with the lighting strikes) which was really cool and appreciated as one of my largest criticisms of the show has been that they don’t use their gear to its fullest potential. Also, Six Flags specific - they actually have preferred seating for the show? That’s great! No more needing to carry in heavy annoying camping chairs from the main entrance, thank goodness!
  24. ^ I wouldn’t be surprised, but the weird thing about them was their placement. The opening ceremony bit happened in front of the ride, with refreshments and what not closer to Tin Lizzy’s. These speakers were off by the camping entrance and motocoaster. This would make me think at bare minimum they had another set up by the ride itself, or something like that, as those speakers wouldn’t have made for a great PA system with where they were
