^ no need to think we are, SplashTown is 100% becoming Hurricane Harbor in 2020. This won’t be a “Cedar Point Shores” style refresh but it will likely have some signage updates - but I won’t expect anything too crazy minus the new slide. If they can install it on that plot o’ land across from the bridge I feel like that would be pretty neat. Otherwise - what do I care? Seems like it’ll be a nice addition regardless of where it ends up.
-
^ I don’t know that they’re removing anything for this attraction. If not, it’s no big deal to have a larger thrill ride and then something similar for those who want a more moderate thrill. The big thing here is choices. SplashTown, now Hurricane Harbor has quite a nice selection of water rides and what not - though it does have a pretty sad kids area. Honestly I’d wonder if that’s where this is going. (Where else would it go? Across the bridge? I doubt it...)

Rebranding is fine, but it begs the question of whether or not they’re going to try to make it a second gate again. Not a big water park fan, but at least now I don’t have to be bummed about a big new ride coming the year I move out of state! Thanks, Disney Also, looks like the Riddler Revenge retheme wasn’t announced until April 2018, so I wouldn’t necessarily count out the possibility that some of that may still happen. Here’s to hoping they picked a water ride in order to spend more on things like that on the dry side of the park.

So now I've just read 87 posts and didn't get much substance out of any of them. Perhaps 2 things total mentioned anything about a water attraction and everything else seemed like things that weren't all that top secret in the first place. I have nothing against dnn at all, and it seems all the posts from them have been great for adding to a conversation with really no talking down of anyone which I appreciate. when it comes to how Haymaker is acting I only have one thing to say... Arrogance is not cool my friend.
-
Seems like this is what Haymaker is talking about. And again. There’s NO evidence here. Vague statements aren’t proving anything. Unless this was coming from a PR person specifically which I don’t believe it is then it isn’t saying much at all. People who know what’s happening aren’t saying anything and that’s always the case. All of us posting can have hunches and thoughts but a top level exec is not going to come and say anything because people wanna know.

That was actually awesome because it was so unexpected. I mean there were rumors of a single rail, but we all just assumed the announcement would come with the rest of the chain. I thought it was comical because from an outsiders perspective it seemed as though it was just Six Flags trying to get their 15 seconds of fame before California’s Great America announced theirs only a few days later. It was like the perfect timing for stealing Cedar Fair’s thunder and also their “first of its kind” bragging rights. That’s probably exactly why they did it but I haven’t been following Six Flags closely for very long now so I have no clue if that’s what others saw

Weekends are busy concert or not. A lot of parks were extra busy this weekend. I can confirm this. Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, concert days, holidays, all the typical busy days you’d expect at a theme park are actually busy days. All of that 4th fest was busy, I know personally from the 3rd and the 6th, obviously the 4th was busy too... plus with this week being the last week of daily operation, it’s game on for last minute trips to the park for a lot of people. Even myself since I have already started back up at UB. It’s also pretty safe to say that crowds come and go in waves at the park. Personally I’m a “come in the mid to late afternoon, stay for the laser show” kind of person but there’s really three types of groups I’ve seen. The daytime field trip groups, the let’s go to the water park during the day and spend the evening at the park groups, and the come in the afternoon and stay for the laser show groups. The parking lot has been pretty full every time I’ve been at the park this summer (14 times as I have just recently found out. Didn’t realize it was that many) and most days were randomly sprinkled throughout time of the week and time of the year. Minus the coasting for kids event I haven’t seen terribly empty parking lots at all, personally. The funny thing to me is I have GP friends and co-workers that have bought memberships and got that same “keep an eye out on our Facebook for hints about the new ride” and are more upset that they saw that and haven’t gotten any hints than they were about the email that came out in April saying SkyScreamer was going to have a passholder preview on opening weekend. Some of y’all may think it’s only us who care about teasers, I’ve got about 15 families / groups that say otherwise just from my personal experience. We aren’t in a bubble, friends.

Planning on visiting Saturday, September 7. Any crazy changes in operation since it’s listed as “limited”? Can’t seem to find what that means anywhere... -
^ that is easily 2-3 hours. rjr19 has every right to rant about that. Just out past the little shade structure close to the station is 45 minutes. If the line truly wrapped all the way down to the old vending machines that’s absolutely insane and would be ridiculous to wait in line for with only one train of 28 seats. Especially since 4 of them are reserved for Go Fast Pass holders only

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Not sure if the website is completely updated, but apparently there’s a whole bunch of new stuff this year: Scare Zones: - CornStalkers 2.0: Revenge of the Pumpkin Heads Battleground HalloZone (new for 2019 at Celebration Plaza) - Boneyard Battleground (scare zone) - Dead End Kitchen Alley (food trucks) - Raging Inferno (Heavy Metal Show on Luminosity stage) - Skin & Bones (Skeleton Band Show on Luminosity stage) - Toxicity (Acrobatics Show on Luminosity stage) Other new things include: - Happily Never After (Red Garter Saloon Show) - Midnight Syndicate: Creatures of Darkness - the Pumpkin Patches (BackBeatQue stage) I’m honestly a little surprised there’s nothing happening in Forbidden Frontier. Seems like it could be the perfect place for some form of walk through haunted maze or something. Regardless I’m glad to see so much new this Haunt! -
Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread

CW has some pretty great merchandise if you take the time to look for it. Since I’ve been visiting they’ve definitely stepped up their game. I agree Leviathan could use some refreshed merch but it’s WAY better than selection I’ve seen at other parks (SFDL and SFNE to be specific). Plus, throwing my two cents in a little bit more - I feel like the amount of merch Cedar Point has in all honesty has declined since they opened the rethemed Point Plaza. Before that place was full of cool shirts and what not, now they have maybe 5 or 6 designs total in there? Even the general store rework has slashed merch you can find down quite a bit. My two go-to stores are currently Pagoda (always a good one) and the Steel Vengeance gift shop aka the Frontiertown Emporium. Speed Zone is a decent one too. At CW, the Canada’s Wonderland Store, Yukon Striker’s Gift Shop (to an extent) and True North Gifts are the places to get the best merch. Behemoth’s gift shop used to be that way, but now it’s really nothing special. -
You sound pleasant. Teasers are pointless. Six Flags cearly doesnt do them on the same level as CF, and even then CF only seems to do it for major coasters. And ultimately the teasers barely relate to the project at hand. So again... who cares if they tease or not. Not that I agree that teasers are pointless... they’re a great way to generate buzz for a park and get clicks on posts and what not. They’re great marketing materials that keep customers excited and happy and wanting to know more. However as I’ve stated at least three times. Darien Lake does not do teasing. Not even a little. They never have and they very likely never will. The sooner we all accept that the better. And good on them for keeping whatever the 2020 project is a secret. I think it’s pretty cool that in the last several years they only had one project actually leak - and that was tantrum. Yes I’d love teasers for my home park too, but I’ll just as happily enjoy being surprised next Thursday when we find out what’s going on next year for all the Six Flags parks. Sorry to beat a dead horse. Also... Team Retheme 2020
-
^ honestly I’ll take it if it boosts revenue for the park. All I cared about last year was the Halloween laser show and the fog and lights around the scare zones. I had zero intentions of paying for the houses last year as I had just as much fun experiencing the park in October and seeing it all fogged up again after so long. If cheap houses is what it takes to get people through the gates then so be it. 4 houses with hour long lines is by no means bad for the park. I go to Cedar Point for their haunt event and then come back to Darien for some end of season coaster riding. Bring on Fright(fully cheap) Fest™!

The better example is at SFGAm but this will have to do. Some Six Flags parks do this for two attractions. Could be confusing for some, but most of the time people figure it out. SFNE’s case actually just goes up toward a plaza with two other ride signs, but SFGAm’s case has two queues that start at the same point. One for the American Eagle and the other for their skycoaster.

Six Flags New England: Bizarro Retheme / new trains / new effects / repainted Superman Return / updated trains / repainted Mind Eraser / new trains The Riddler Revenge / New Paint and theme Six Flags Great Adventure Superman repaint Six Flags America Firebird / retheme / new trains Is it really that unbelievable that they would do something like repaint a Rollercoaster? I’m sure there’s more examples here too, but come on.
