Yes it is and it will definitely not be rebuilt, it was damaged while they were taking it apart in AstroWorld if anything SF will scrap that hunk of junk. Also IMO good news SF is back in control again, I can definitely see them bringing two trains back for most rides and the retheme of many such as ROS being rethemed back to Superman and the potential that Mind Eraser will get new trains and become the Riddler like they did with the one at SFNE. No, it is not. They removed it last year. That land is now just a fenced off property across the street with nothing in it. I do agree that they will likely try to rebrand whatever they can at some point, RoS would be an easy fix but otherwise who knows what they’re thinking. Then again, the deal isn’t final until sometime in June so for now we don’t know really anything about what’s truly going on

I can't share it on here, but if you check the Darien Lake facebook page (and I'd assume eventually Twitter and Instagram as well), they have a short time lapse video of the early stages of Tantrum's construction progress. By the looks of it they have a handful of footers ready to go but there hasn't been any vertical construction as of when the video was created. It is nice to see that there is a time lapse being taken though!

Quick question, does anyone know if the platinum Pass season long funpix add on is valid for all Cedar Fair parks? Or just the park it was purchased in? I bought mine at Cedar Point since that is the CF park I visit the most, but it would be nice to not have to buy day passes for the other parks if I can avoid them

Thanks for the compliment! I’m always a big fan of showing some BuffaLove when I’m out and about! Just as I’m always showing my Cedar Point love when I’m at home! I’ll post some more chill out pictures soon, despite the slight rain, the park looked very nice and as always it was great go get a look at the maintenance shops to see where the coasters all go to be taken apart and put back together in the off season!

I wanted to wait and see if anyone else posted photos before I did to avoid redundancy but since I’ve only seen one I felt hey, why not show off some of my fun SteVen shots from yesterday’s event! They let us get EXTREMELY close to the ride and it made for some awesome photography! As you can see, I was pretty excited to be as close to this ride as possible

Darien Lake has just announced two new shows for 2018. A hypnotist show as well as the return of a magic show. This makes me wonder if they’re going to have one located in the SBNO GALAXY theatre or if they’ll have them both in the Grande Threatre at different times - which is possible. I will miss American Pop / American Rock, but it is nice to see them investing in their live entertainment options. What really bothers me about that rumor is the fact that there are 3 coasters within that structure that are clearly staying still, and a waterfall on the front of it. How can it rotate if the waterfall never moves and the coasters are all (hopefully) staying out?!

For anyone not on their Snapchat, they announced a contest to win a 2018 calendar tomorrow (Thursday) at 4pm EST. It appears to be all Wild West themed which is pretty cool - this is more than likely what the aforementioned “announcement of an announcement” was about

^ As we already discovered last year, the Predator train has been cannibalized for parts, meaning that coaster is also down to one train. Viper is the only one that we know has two trains. Which means the only ones that even have a chance of multi-train operations are Viper (which is unlikely at best) and Tantrum. When Darien is willing to drop another money million dollars on another RoS train I’m sure they’ll announce it somehow like last time - but until then it’s just a pipe dream as previously said, unfortunately.

I was in the area so I decided to drive past the park and as of at least yesterday all the BtE track is completely gone. There are still a bunch of supports but I’d imagine those are next to go

Driving past the park today it was actually pretty interesting to see that plot of land (mostly) without track. It makes me wonder if they’re actually scrapping it finally or if they’re just moving it further down the road so guests can’t see it. Regardless I’m glad it’s getting taken away in some way or another so people will stop asking about it now we can look forward to the arrival of Tantrum track whenever that will be. Hopefully Darien took some destruction photos of thunder rapids and will take photos of Tantrum’s construction. It would be cool to see the whole process!

They’ve said before it’s the cost of removal. It’s doing no harm where it is, plus it’s a tax write off if I understand correctly, so what’s the point in getting rid of it if they don’t absolutely have to? Or something along those lines - it’s been a while since people have really seriously discussed that coaster. All I know is they specifically have stated it will never be built at Darien lake or any other theme park. I have the screen capture somewhere, I may have to dig it up

Important Update Darien Lake 2018 Ride approved by GCEDC On October 26th, 2017 the Genesee County Economic Development Center approved Darien Lake’s proposal for a new ride set to open in 2018. Quick Platinum Pass question(s). I purchased my pass a couple months ago and I was able to answer my own questions on FunPix and Parking at other parks but the one thing I couldn’t find much on was the bring-a-friend deals. Are they valid at all CF parks? Is there a limit to how many times you can “bring a friend”? And is there a limit to how many friends you can bring at once? Sorry if I seem ignorant but I’m used to Darien Lake’s older system where you’re given 3 or 4 extra passes and that’s all you get. Thanks guys!

Did they get approved for the write off? I feel like that’s a more important question to ask - unless it says they did somewhere and I’m just oblivious to it

I think at the end of the day as long as it’s something on a larger scale such as a giant frisbee, screamin’ swing or star flyer; a non-rollercoaster addition could be pretty epic. All three of the aforementioned rides are awesome spectator attractions on top of being pretty great rides as well. And it’s evident at a place like Cedar Point which has all three. You see people whom haven’t seen the rides in person before staring at them in awe! Especially SkyHawk. Which, I wouldn’t mind having something like SkyHawk a little closer to home! regardless I feel as though we may know a little more come Thursday when they go to the board for approval
