  1. I posted the in the Disneyland thread but thought those of you on the East Coast would want to hear about it as well. The Disney Mobile Magic App that was Verizon only is now available for all iPhone users, and a few other non-important phones! Verizon customers do get some additional features, but the main features are available for all. disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2011/08/disney-parks-mobile-magic-app-is-now-free/

  3. Besides that, I am really excited for 2013. The area being cleared seems very large, and there is a lot of great stuff they can put in there. Seeing their collection of coasters so far, I don't think we will be disappointed! Can't wait to see what they have in store!
  4. At the SFMM Q&A session, a person asked a question that was similar to one that was already answered and Tim responded by asking if they person had a "learning disability."
  5. ^^^Thanks for that QueerRudie! I hate to go off on another tangent, but what about water parks (CGA does have one so I guess it's not that off topic)? How are they able to get around things like having elevators for their towers? I've never understood how they have.
  6. We went later on in the day when the worker told us the line was 20 minutes. It was almost an hour long. There was no pre-show though. No video was playing, and they just let us walk right on through to the station.
  7. ^I think your right, I guess waterparks get around it because they also require strong use of arms and legs for when the rafts flip over. Interesting.
  8. Yeah, that is definitely weird. I wonder why it would be required. Waterparks aren't required to have elevators and such because of the physical requirements for riding the rides. I don't see how Vortex would require one based on the same criteria.
  9. Ok, I'll retract my initial statement about it being unsafe. I'm sure it would be safe because they obviously wouldn't make it if it wasn't tested and shown to work. I get that. Really, i'm just wondering if there is any coaster/drop tower out there that has done this before. I'm not asking to say see I told you so or anything, I really am just curious if this has been done before.
  10. I know they have had to have done a lot of analysis and that they are more than confident it would work, I have just never heard of clamping being used before and not bolting or welding. I really want to know if any other rides just have clamping. It's just something I'm interested in.
  11. Giant Drop has a tube structure, and only one track for their coaster. The drop portion of the ride was bolted on the side of the tube. They put extra steel plating around the structure where the drop tower attached and bolted it all together.
  12. Bridge failures are a lot more common than you might think. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_bridge_failures My question is, is there any other coaster in the world that is held by clamps? I'm asking a real question, not making a statement. I really do want to know. Does anyone know of any? I'm curious to see how many there are. I've just never heard of one.
  13. Green Lantern is such a waste. The first time I rode it we were really unbalanced and we got only 1 flip. This past weekend, we were still unbalanced, but didn't got more than 3/4 of a spin. Terrible waste of a ride. I also thought the explanation given during WCB was a cop-out. I definitely understand the GP doesn't want it to spin like teacups, but not even one spin? That's BS. I did have a great weekend seeing everyone again, and loved being able to ride X2 and Tatsu a bunch. I am very leery about Lex Luther though. In the presentation, they said it would not be bolted or welded on, just clamped on!?!? I hope it was just a mis-statement though, because a ride that is just clamped on does not seem safe to me. Yes, I am absolutely not an engineer, but I've never heard of any ride being clamped on to the supports,
  14. That is an amazing bag of crap! Awesome stuff in there.
  15. If I remember correctly, the security guards aren't really allowed to run because they could hurt themselves or others, or they can cause a 'stampede.' However, it did seems a pretty long time until backup arrived.
  16. Amy and I have been embarrassingly playing with the 3DS' street pass. Normally in Reno we can only get one new person a week, but at Disneyland, we get over 40 a day! Really nerdy I know, but I don't care. So if you have a 3DS, and are trying to get more street passes, go to Disneyland!
  17. 3.7 is very minor. I usually don't even feel them until high 4's. That place is built expecting a lot worse, so there shouldn't be any problems. Too bad it wasn't earlier and bigger, it could have done the Big Spin demolition for them!
  18. I love Tatsu and X2! Can't wait to ride them in just a few days!!! I'm interested to see if they have any new food offerings as well. I'm really waiting for the red velvet funnel cake that was at IAAPA to show up somewhere!
  19. That ERT was absolutely amazing!!!! It's really sad going to Knott's and Mt Olympus and knowing how good those rides were/could be. It's too bad that this is happening. I thought they would be able to pull through and turn the park around. The prices are way too high, but that's sales. Start high and hope for the best. Maybe Prince Desmond has a little extra money to save Rampage as well!
  20. The cobra looks cool, but it seems too much like existing slides to me, just with much better theming. Of course anything new is great, and I'm sure people will like it, but I would have liked to have the drop pods more. It would be really interesting to find out what happened. I'm interested in seeing how well the paint holds up. Usually by the end of the season all the rides get pretty sun bleaches. This will be interesting to follow.
  21. I am really excited for this ride. I'm trying to see how I could pull off visiting this year when it is finished!
  22. I love following these, but I'm absolutely terrible at knowing where you are! Looks like you had an awesome trip!
  23. Thanks for all the comments! Great reports! I still need to do the WB Tour. Sony's was pretty lame, but we enjoyed Paramounts too. Awesome picture. Wish it was still there when we went through. So, I guess Hufflepuffs and Slytherins don't mix? The only studios I've ever toured were Universal and NBC (back in the 1970s, when our group bumped into two "Gong Show" icon "Gene Gene, the Dancing Machine"). I've always wanted to try the other studio tours. I hope not! Amy was a Slytherin, and I was a Hufflepuff as well. She hasn't left me...yet We'll let you know when!
  24. Here it is. I saw somebody had 60 wins. Anyone seen higher?
  25. Great news! The Haunt presentations are alway a ton of fun! What an incredible event this is going to be!
