Unfortunately, despite Apples growth, for some reason PC generally just refers to Windows these days. The terms PC and Mac are so outdated now. Especially because, on a fundamental hardware level, they are all PC's now. They really should just start specifying this stuff by OS platform now (Windows, OSX, Linux, etc.) Oh well, there's always bootcamp.

Ever checked out the App Store? I would never... Pandas are endangered. I think someone would be lying if they said they never crashed coasters on purpose in RCT, but this is probably the first game I've seen where killing people by coaster seems to be the goal. I'm curious to know what kind of government the future of ScreamRide had.

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
Miracleman replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That looks like a lot of fun. Love the theme. Not to get too far ahead of myself, but just imagine the Halloween possibilities of this ride. -
Did you ever stop to think that maybe, after creating YEARS of the same game, the developer wanted to do something different with the genre? I can tell you as someone who was part of the original Call of Duty team that there were a lot of us that were pretty sick of 1st person WWII shooters by the time #3 came along and quite a few of us were doing it "for the paycheck." I'm kind of happy to see Frontier (whom I know quite a few of those guys personally) doing something radically different, but still roller coasters, that looks like a lot of fun! Stop being so reasonable. I'm trying to be selfish here. Now you had to go and get me empathizing with the developers. I've never played a Call of Duty game (not much of an fps fan), but I can surely understand frustration behind working on something you're no longer passionate about "for the paycheck." It's been so long since a really good theme park management sim came out, and that's just an itch of mine that really needs scratching. With every new game theme park-related game announcement, I let myself get my hopes up too high. As I said, I'm probably at fault for wanting it to be something that it's not, but I can't help it. This could be fun, but if I have to use Kinect to build Roller Coasters, I'm out. Edited to fix spelling and grammar.

I'm curious as to how this cooperative management of one massive theme park will work. Could be interesting. Not anticipating much more than each player getting a "quadrant" of the park. Hmmm, we'll see, I guess. Apparently it has a different developer than the mobile game. The title change also indicates that they're trying to possibly distance themselves from it. Not going to get my hopes up yet, though...

My big disappointment is that this does not appear to be a sim or tycoon style game especially considering the developer. Maybe I'm at fault for wanting this to be something it's not, but it had been quite some time since we've one of those (at least a good one). Don't get me wrong, I like games that have building coasters as a goal, but there are so many of those currently. I'm going to call this what (I think) it is likely to be: an "extreme" version of Coaster Crazy where the goals are also more "extreme." Which is not to say necessarily bad, but more that it is not what I wish it to be. Yeah, I'm being petulant. Heck, who am I kidding, I'm sure I'll end up buying it. Unless it ends up being an Xbox One Exclusive.

I could've sworn I've seen this story before, but now it says August. Contour's Chris Brown is tenacious, if nothing else. So, what are the odds that this investor trip will actually happen this time? The developer is saying that they have a committed lead investor. They have yet to close on the land. Last time, they even had land and nothing happened. I remain skeptical, too. This has been a rather long debacle. Though, I do believe that Contour at least seems interested in building a park unlike Don Holbrook. We'll see.

^Texas City is right across the bridge (just northwest) from Galveston Island. So it is a good jaunt Southeast of downtown Houston. Basically, in theme park terms, it's South of Kemah Boardwalk and Northwest of Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier. This is becoming quite the vacation area. It's a significant distance away from the proposed New Caney parks (Grand Texas and Earthquest) as those are a good bit northeast of Houston.

More news from the project that refuses to die gracefully. They had another meeting with EMCID board a few days ago and they set a new target opening date for their development on their new plot of land. Summer 2017. Apparently they have actual investors lined up this time. The plan to close on the new land next month. The article plays it nice and solely blames the economic downturn for the past debacle instead of Don Holbrook's fleecing of the county. At least Chris Brown and Contour Entertainment seem like they are passionate about this project. As always, time will tell. What will be posted here in summer of 2017? The real tragedy is that if it does well the Atari execs will pat themselves on the back with assurance that they made a good call. Conversely, if it fails to perform well they will assume that people are no longer interested in the Roller Coaster Tycoon franchise and mothball it for another who knows how long?

No one here is complaining about it being on a mobile device. They are complaining that the gameplay-style looks very drastically changed. Most here would be very happy with a mobile port of RCT2. They are complaining because it looks very little like RCT2. Instead of being a theme park management/coaster sim-type game, it looks now to be a much less interactive experience more like Coasterville or EA's theme park where you either wait in real time to accrue tickets or buy stuff outright with real world money and have your friends visit. No terrain adjustments or footpath worries. It's taken care for you. Makes sure to play every day to maximize your profits so you can buy the really cool stuff. It becomes less about good management and more about showing off to your facebook friends and building a big outrageous park with all the rides because your either (a) very patient and persistent or (b) so, so rich.
