Where are you seeing those who are disappointed by it? Here? I thought the said they like it? I'm going to be there in a few weeks so I want to know if it's worth the effort. Could you please post the links for the disappointing reviews? And the ops appear to be slow for safety reasons, so I'm fine with that. I would imagine it will speed up with time and experience. TIA, -

Wow, is there even any time to hit the restroom once you sign up (even if the other 2 stay in line)? Better watch my coffee intake that morning I think I might be going with somebody that can take my stuff. Otherwise maybe I'll grab one of those waterproof lanyards that'll fit my car keys and credit card and wear under a swim shirt, then ditch our shoes at the bottom of the ride (not too worried about those getting stolen). I would assume they will let you ride with the lanyard thingie under a shirt? Thanks again, -

Ok, I'm just a bit confused. I have many questions for you, lol... From what you are saying I am gathering: 1) They let the herd run to Verruckt at 9:40am. 2) It is a good idea to show up dressed to ride and with some footwear you can move quickly in? 3) I thought Verruckt didn't open until noon? Reserved rides obviously start before that from you are saying. Are you saying that you guys had to get dressed first, and then get in line to sign up? Or that you got in line first, signed up for a time, then got dressed - but didn't have time to change and make the time you could have gotten if you were already dressed? I plan to show up with my 2 boys, and our weight for the 3 of us will be about 450lbs so we should be ok there. Any other tips or clarification of the above you can provide to get us through that line quickly would be appreciated. -
If the money isn't going to put a huge dent in your wallet just get the Platinum Flash Pass with X2 and Full Throttle add ons, especially if you don't get there at park opening. If you get there at opening and can get on Full Throttle first, then consider getting a Gold Flash Pass instead. I was there on Friday 6/27 from 1:10 - 7:45PM, I'll cut and re-post part of my trip report for you below:

Nice report, thanks. How did the process for signing up for your ride time work? Do people line up outside the gates prior to 10AM opening and then rush to a certain area to sign up or what? I would assume I would have some sort of advantage if I show up with 3 riders that meet the weight limit vs people that need to find another rider? How long did you have to wait in line to sign up and when was your ride time? TIA, -

Wow, that article states a 2 hour wait to sign up for your assigned ride time? I am hoping to get there at opening and get to the sign in station ASAP. Since I will already have 3 riders we won't need to collaborate with others to fill out our party. If anybody attends the park in the next few weeks let me know how this system is working and share any tips you may have. TIA, -

Awww dang, my bad. I thought you were describing/disccussing Verruckt at Schlitterbahn, which is where I will be in 2 weeks. Looking back at your posts I see you were describing Summit Plummet. Has anyone here actually ridden Verruckt yet? I rode it twice on media day. I will say is that it was not an abusive ride. But the steps are rough. You have to pace yourself and it is easy to get out of breath. If you do get tired you can stop and rest. If you get in trouble there are safety calls every 4 or 6 flights of stairs. Your group is weighed at the bottom and the top of the ride. I assume they are still handing out numbered wrist bands to keep you with your group. You get in the raft and all you can see is the horizon, when they hit the dispatch button you are on a tilting platform and it dumps you down the slide. You will pick up some quick speed and hit the track which acts as a trim break type system. Once you reach the end of it speed picks up and you reach the bottom of the first hill and start up the second. The water jets are required to get you up and over the hill unless the raft is close to the 550# capacity. You WILL get sprayed from behind. It was tons of fun. Thanks for posting this, puts my mind at ease a bit. Just ran a 23 minute 5K this morning so the stairs shouldn't be a problem. Being from Seattle I think my main concern will be worrying about sun burn . Although we are competing with ya'll this week with some temps in the 90's (and no AC). -

How bad is it on your back? I tore a disc last year but I've done extensive PT and core building exercises so have pretty dang strong back muscles. I'm now able to ride most roller coasters without a problem. As long as it's just banging around a bit with no excessive twisting or sudden bending I'm ok. Even the excessive tossing on X2 didn't give me any problems. Your thoughts? And as far as that goes... I've never really ridden water slides at all. I would imagine you can twist your back up pretty good on the landings? Any advice from avid water slide riders? No sudden twisting or bending, as long as you follow their instructions and ride properly. So you may be fine. That being said, personally it's not the kind of thing I'd want to chance if I had back problems of any kind, just because you're more exposed than you are on a coaster because there's no seat supporting you, and your back does get banged up quite a bit. I'd at least try a smaller slide first. Thanks for your answer, decisions, decisions.... Would love to ride it once with my 2 boys just to experience it. We shall see. How do the other slides rank in order of intensity and which ones will have the longest lines? -

I don't know that I would call it a "track" per say. It felt more like a break run.. It was a lot of fun and I would and will ride again. Even with all the stairs. It was kind of funny watch news people yesterday and how they were doing multiple takes on the first couple of flights. Then by the time they were six flights up they were kind of done... How long did you wait in line and how long is the loading process, etc...? Oh, wait, you didn't ride today did you? When was media day? Just curious how the everyday ride ops are going if anyone can report in. TIA, -

I thought the same thing, kids that age don't carry ID (school ID maybe), especially at a water park. I am assuming they are more concerned about the problem of having too light a person on the ride so picked the age of 14. I.E. - they are probably more concerned about weight than age so I would assume a bigger 12 or 13 year old will probably be able to ride if they lie about their age. I personally would just not allow my kids to ride if they were underage, too much liability involved. Definitely agree. I'm more willing to try this though, don't know if I'd try Summit Plummet, especially since I have 0 experience riding water slides. I'll let ya'll know how brave I am in a few weeks time.... -

Just about spit coffee all over myself, thanks.... I plan on being there in a few weeks with my 2 boys, 17 and 20. We're all right around 150-160 so that should work our great! The age limit will also cut down on the line length I would imagine. Edit: I read on another site that age limit is 14 or older and that if you are over the weight limit for 3 people a lighter Schlitterbahn employee will ride with you. What a great summer job that would be! I also see that the ride is not open until noon, I wonder why the later opening? Maybe trying to prevent a stampede to the ride at opening? Hopefully we'll see a few reports from riders today. -
i don't think the season pass one is advertised. might be a small sign at the pickup area. I was told on my last visit that they "ran out" of USB drives and were now offering some online version, but the images cost $2 each now. so I hope they continue next year with the sticks. I had it last year too. Cool, thanks. I'll be sure to look out for anything similar next time I'm at an amusement park in general. I'll be at WOF in KC in a month. Probably won't get back to SFMM for another 2 years or so if we go back to Cali again.
-
one of the best things they have are the season pass usb sticks. i think it was 34.95, but all digital pics are one dollar. front gate, ride, character, etc. all the same. wish cedar fair had something similar. also wish they had all the on ride photos they used to. i understand it's good for all six flags parks, too. Are they still doing this? Would have been a great deal had I known. Is it advertised anywhere? Did a quick google search and I don't see it on their web page.

One more thing from my trip Friday. If you buy a 6x8 ride photo for $15 they give you a coupon for a 6x8 ride photo for $7. I used the coupon to buy another ride photo and the cashier handed me the coupon back so I guess you can just keep re-using it. Not a great deal since ride photos are way overpriced as it is, but not bad either if you only go there once every few years like myself. I also enjoyed the Vacation (Chevy Chase) display over by Colossus to commemorate it's closing. They have a replica of "The Wagon Queen Family Truckster" station wagon from the movie you can take pictures by. The Wagon Queen Family Truckster station wagon was based on a 1979 Ford LTD Country Squire station wagon and heavily modified for the movie. The first car I drove in High School was my parents 1976 Ford LTD Country Squire station wagon, the only difference was that it was white with simulated wood grain paneling instead of green. I think it had like a 460 engine in it, I know my brothers got it going pretty good on the freeway a few times.... lol

Yeah thats true since with Ninja the FP riders board the train from the exit side instead of merging with the regular line like most coasters. It's worse when you have a platinum wristband and come around and they have to wait again (especially if it's one train ops). Do you remember which rides would not allow any re-riding in any row? Me and another user on here a while back were trying to figure out a list of rides that didn't allow PFP double rides. LOL, as soon as Ninja left the station I told my kids were are NOT re-riding, didn't want the town people coming after us with pitchforks. Hmmm, after 3 days of theme parking everything tends to be a blur, especially approaching 50, lol. I swear I recall seeing a sign in the Flash Pass office that says no double rides on any back or front row. My kids claim there was no sign and they were told verbally on Viper no front/back re-rides and that's how we knew on Tatsu. Then on Apocalypse they said they re-rode (not front/back) and the attendants didn't even look for or notice their red bracelets. So, that probably doesn't help you..... If you find any official policy I'd be curious to know now as well
-
Talking to my kids, Tatsu was indeed a 20 minute wait, not a walk on. And we couldn't ride twice since we had the back row. They said Superman was a pretty short wait. Ninja was just weird, we could tell it was different because the people standing in the regular queue just seemed really irate and we could hear several people making nasty comments about those dang Flash Pass people, especially the one guy trying to explain to his young son why he couldn't get on the ride at the time. Besides that it was pretty painless.

I visited SFMM this past Friday 6/27 with my DW and DS's 17 and 20, - and thought I'd post up a quick trip report. I posted last year about my herniated disc here www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=64999&p=1334954&hilit=herniated#p1334954. I flew and visited Disneyland on Thursday and overdid it a bit, so that my back was spasming as I walked so I wasn't sure if I could ride coasters Friday. However, thanks to Schrecken's advice about using your legs to take the impact (see linked thread) and wearing a lightweight back brace, I was able to ride X2, Tatsu, Full Throttle, Lex, Goliath, and Ninja without a problem. Tips and comments: Platinum Flash Pass - absolutely worth every penny!! We did the PFP and added X2 and Full Throttle. Full Throttle was a 2 hour wait but it was a literal walk on for us, shortest wait of the day. It is interesting that each ride uses a different method for the PFP. Apocalypse puts you way back in the queue and my kids took a good hour to get their 2 rides in, while Full Throttle, X2, and Tatsu were literal walk ons. Ninja was a very strange implementation as was Goliath. Goliath mingles you back at the back of the train in a kind of random, chaotic mixture, and Ninja appears to load an entire train full of FP people while the non FP people wait (thought it was just a bit odd). Anyway, we were there from about 1:10PM to 7:45PM and got it a total of 15 rides (at least my kids did): Viper x2 Revolution x2 Tatsu (back row) Apocalypse x2 Ninja Full Throttle (back row) X2 Lex Luthor DOD Colossus Goliath Green lantern Superman X2 - Why did I ride this after seeing all your reviews, LOL? I guess I didn't recall the ride oscillating you back and forth in the chair as much when I rode it 4 years ago? Isn't that basically what a cat does to it's prey to snap it's neck and kill it, bite into it and shake it up and down until it's neck snaps? I'm surprised nobody has had any knee injuries after riding this thing. I just had to give it a go I guess, don't know if I'd ride it again though. Full Throttle - Like some others here I don't get the negative reviews. Definitely our favorite ride of the day. It's fast, smooth, and has some unique elements (for me at least). Park Condition - Generally ok except for the deplorable bathrooms by Apocalypse. It seemed to me that that entire corner of the park is the land that time forgot, just looks old and run down. Could definitely use some work in that corner. The rest of the park was fine though. Breakdowns - Full Throttle, X2, and Superman were all down briefly, but luckily came back up pretty quickly. So kudos to the maintenance staff for expedient work. YOLOband - It was 94 degrees and the wait for Full Throttle was 2 hours+. I was impressed though, that they at least try to hype the ride and keep the people in line entertained. They had a band playing some pretty cool music (something similar to Allstar by Smashmouth type music). They were just warming up when I walked by, I think they had a track playing but the drummer was definitely live. Do they have the band there all the time? Most of my pics are run of the mill but I will leave you with a picture of the YOLOband:

Unfortunately you cannot change from one type to another, although if money is not an object you could always just return the gold and buy a platinum. Again unless you want to buy YOLOCoaster passes or ride twice in a row the platinum is pointless. You can absolutely exit the park. You are asked to take your flash pass device to the return window and let the staff know you're coming back, they will hold it for you until you return to the park. I usually head for one of the two major coasters without flash pass (X2 or YOLOCoaster) before getting my flash pass since park opening is one of the few times to do that without a line. If either of these two coasters are running one train, hit that one right away when the park opens because the line will be long all day. If both are running 2+ trains, then you can take your pick of which one to hit first and hit the other in the afternoon. Is there ever any chance of them running out of Platinum Flash Passes? Do you happen to know the rides that don't allow 2 rides in a row with the Platinum, I don't see a list on their web site. TIA,
-
Well here's the deal. They way it's advertised is that the regular gives you the same wait as the standby line except you don't have to do your waiting in line, the gold reduces the wait by 50%, the platinum reduces the wait by 90% and gives you the option to remain in your seat after your first lap and take a second ride (on some rides, not all). In reality, both the gold and the platinum give you roughly 90% off of the wait time. I always get the gold and in my experience almost every ride is 5-10 min wait. The only ones that are usually a long ~45min wait are the water rides in summer. With the wait time being mostly equal, the only real advantages to the platinum are the ability to purchase reservations for YOLOCoaster for $15 and the double ride, and for me the double ride loses it's appeal when you have to remain in the same seat. If I'm going to double ride I'd want to do front and back row which you aren't allowed to do. So the gold in my opinion is the best deal. It's not complicated to use at all, in fact I like the Flash Pass a lot more than the Fast Lane. You get a little digital pager-type thing where you can scroll through the list of rides and it tells you what time your ride will be ready for each. When you select one it starts waiting until the posted time and then it flashes and vibrates to let you know your ride is ready. When you walk up to the flash pass entrance an employee near the station will have a device that reads yours and resets it; as soon as they read your device you can reserve your next ride. Most people will reserve their next ride while still in the station for the first one and it will be ready by the time you get off the ride. Flash Pass lines also most often tend to merge with the regular line much closer to loading than Fast Lane. Oh one big heads up - I found out the hard way if you go during fright fest they put the mazes on the flash pass device. If you're there for the mazes that's cool, but I think there's a limit to the number of possible attractions on the flash pass because during fright fest a good chunk of coasters that normally support flash pass wont be on the list. Great info, thanks. I might be visiting the park on Friday, June 27th and had a few questions. 1) If I go with the Gold Pass and regret it for some reason, can I upgrade it later in the day to a Platinum Pass? Is there a chance the passes run out later in the day? 2) Are you able to exit the park (to get lunch, etc...) and return and continue using the Flash Pass? I would assume yes... 3) Would the game plan still be to hit Yolocoaster first and then get the Flash Pass? I just want to make sure I maximize my time since I likely won't be back any time soon. If anybody wants pics of anything in particular let me know. TIA,

Actually asking this for an acquaintance from another forum.... They would like to attend the SFMM (coming from New Zealand) to ride the coasters on a Saturday in September, but will be toting around a baby, a 2 year old and a 4 year old. They were wondering if there were any sort of rider swap or any way to have one ride while the other waits, how many rides there were to entertain the kids, etc... I've only been to SFMM once but I recommended that it would quite a pain to try that, perhaps giving KBF a try instead. Any advice those that frequent SFMM would have?
