Coaster Cordalis

I never experienced it by myself (I'm frightingly skinny, my avatar lies!), but I've got a very close 'big' friend, and I 'suffered' it several times with him. Sometimes over here (Germany, nowadays normally home of 'PC') they got 'trying-seats' outside of the ride which would fit him, but while actually entering the coaster, they tell him that they can't secure him with the existing restrains. Of course this is always very embarrassing for him, so we normaly leave the coaster together. And you know how these groups of waiting teenies (and/or drunk people, machos etc.) can be: devastating! So the parks should seriously check the measurements closely BEFORE letting people enter the ride at least, I guess...

This looks like a pretty decent ride. A new B&M Inverter in Europe - yay! That must be the first one since Monster @ Walygator Parc (France), I guess. But that's a refurbished (very good) one, originally built in 1996 for a japanese world exposition (though much more forceful than the new ones, it's a shame - I 'fully recommend' it). The latest 'new' one is Black Mamba @ Phantasialand (Germany) in my opinion. That's a hilarious ride, but probably in first place because of the outstanding (not Disney) theming. The layout is well-engineered, no doubt. But it's also a little bit predictable (yes, there is a 'world-unique' Inclined Immelmann, but you won't recognize it particularly while riding it, it feels pretty smilar to an overbanked turn), not in a bad way but eventually not to frighten the 'average' of the park visitors too much, I guess. Anyway, this new addition is very welcome! I'm looking forward to experience it one (any) day. Thanks, Parc Astérix!

How is "Hamster Coaster profane? Did you mean profound in a sarcastic way? I probably do... I'm not a native speaker, so I maybe mix something up sometimes. What I ment is: If it really just says 'Hamster Coaster', the name LOOKS impressive (just because of the ammount of words) but means something... simple. P.S.: Yep, I just got it (thanks to dict.cc): it's not 'profane' what I tried to say. Never try to just translate by instinct... I totally understand, since English isn't your first language. I hadn't noticed before that you were from Germany. For what it's worth, your English is still about 1000 times than my German. Thanks!

My opinion: River Quest at Phantasialand, Germany. This is probably one of the most insane water rides. I mean, Valhalla at Blackpool Pleasure Beach is great, but River Quest is unique. It's like a River Raft, but instead of developing it on the ground - due to space limitations - they built it vertical. Just the 'first drop' is 11 meters (about 36 feet) high - in a twisting rafting boat without any restraining devices! I've seen grown-up men taking off their soaked pants in public afterwards, queueing up in front of the dryer and swearing all the time... I guess, that's the funniest water ride I know so far.

Which one do you mean, then? Bandit is disturbingly rough, but they changed parts of the track for this (or last?) season, I think... And Anaconda was more boring than really rough, as far as I remember now. But I might mix something up here. Anyway, Coaster Express was worse. My back (and lower back) hurt for at least ten days. No fun at all on the way back to northern Germany by car (aprox. 18-20 hours)... Never again!

The one I like most: "Fuwa Fuwa Osora No Dai-Bouken (Fuji-Q Highland, Japan)" - to be honest, I've got no idea what it means, I read somewhere about it that it's something profane like "Hamster Coaster", but it sounds quite pretentious ("Why don't you like me anymore?" - "Well, I think you got so pretentious." - "Pretentious, moi...?").

Balder at Liseberg (Sweden) back row, for me - but only because I don't know El Toro, I guess...

Sorry for the double post, but I changed my mind. I'll now go for Coaster Express at Parque Warner Madrid, Spain. It was so bad that I kind of suppressed it... "Worst ride ever!"

I better know the European coasters, so I'll go for Bandit (Movie Park Germany) or Anaconda (Waligator Parc, France), I guess.

I'd go with The Swarm at Thorpe Park, as well... The glowing eyes are just great!

Heide Park: Colossos, no doubt!

Yes, the food is pretty odd ad Heide Park, thats true. I normally try to avoid eating there, to be honest. And they won't get rid of their theming-problems too soon. Big parts of the new "Land of Forgotten" still look like Austria or Swizerland, so do parts of new "Transylvania" - and might for years... Coasters like Big Loop (the MK-1200) and Limit (the SLC-Clone) are not themed at all. On the other hand the "Skull Pirate's Bay" is mostly finished by now. Desert Race is a nearly-100-%-clone of Rita at Alton Towers and was built while both parks belonged to Tussaud's, as far as I know. So it probably was cheaper than designing a second layout (still I would have prefered something like Stealth at Thorpe Park, no doubt). And Krake is not what some might have expected, I'm down with that. All this world-premiere-thing is kind of fake. But it has quite an unique layout (with a splash right after the first drop) and some nice airtime at the camelback. I mean, I do know Griffon and SheiKra as well. And they are much more impressive, for sure. But european coasters normally can't compete with american ones, can they? So I did not expect something that size when they announced Krake, and I can live with it. On a normal friday afternoon you can easily be lucky enough to just stay seated in the first row for several rides after another without queueing up again. However, that's just my opinion.

G'Day, cfc! Yeah, a darkride is definitely needed... But they did a little progress this year with 'Krake lebt!', which means "krake lives', a kind of a walk-through-maze in a weird sunken-ship-environment. Not too bad, but you'll finish it within 6-8 minutes. So - yes, there is a lack of darkrides, obviously...

Hey, 'Larrygator'! Thanks for answering so quickly! Well, I did not specifically ment the people posting here, to be honest. It is just that this park recieves so many bad critics, and I believe this is not always fair. Most of the german blogs don't favour the Heide Park, as well. On the other hand, I'm not a 'fanboy' and no Merlin-empoyee. So please don't get me wrong! Second: the Hotel is really cute, isn't it? I speciallly like these 'outhouse-' (or pit closet-) -looking toilets. Marvellous! The food is reasonable, as well. And with your evening buffet, you get 1,5 hours of free drinking (including beer and wine), don't you..?

Dear like-minded people! This is my first post. I decided to join because I like the humorous videos and comments down here. I'm from Hannover (the original one) in Germany and my home-park is the Heide Park. I initially went there before they built their first coaster (so it must have been before '83) and so I'm kind of 'bound" to it. And - to be honest - I think, it does not deserve all these bad posts. They had some bad times during the last years, depending on the several changes in ownership, I guess. They changed from private ownership to Tussaud's and soon áfterwards to Merlin Entertainments. And all this changing to a full-style theme park takes time, for sure. But let me tell you, all these doubled rides due to an insolvency of the "Eulenspiegel-Park" back in 1990. So they boughth a second viewing-tower (which they turned into a real frightening gyro-drop-tower back in 2003), a second monorail, a second swing boat, a second splashwater (they recently closed down last year) and so on. Since Merlin is the owner, they try to get the park more profitable, so they remove all the doubled rides (exept Scream), which is annoying but reasonable. But (what many people fade out) they built some nice new rides, as well. Krake is not as bad as they all say, so is Desert Race. Bit short and 'flat', but powerful. Colossos is the 'mother' of El Toro, so no discussion on that, I hope. After all that, I will tell you my (unqualified) opinion about this "New-for-2014-Thing": If you are not expecting too much before they open "Whatever", then you will not be disappointed when they'll open "Whatever"! I'm sure this won't be a second Drop Tower - why should be? They got a still very impressive one, so I can't believe that. They would not need another one. In my opinion, it might be something like a Th13teen-Clone (like Merlin does this year in the original Legoland at Billund (DK)). Probably it will be an "Raptor"-Clone (like 'X-Flight' or 'Wild Eagle' for you Americans). Nobody knows by now. However - in my opinion the Heide Park is outrated. There are many bad comments depending on people unhappy with the delayed opening of 'the Krake'-theming. But that happened to better parks, as well... However, have a nice daY!
