^ agreed. Send it to a park like Michigan's Adventure. Would be a perfect fit there. -

Went to CP today and it was a BUST. Majority of the park was shut down due to these high winds. No gatekeeper, millennium, maverick, skyhawk, iron dragon, TTD.. Even Gemini. Wicked Twister opened later in the day. Apparently raptor and mantis did too, but I left at 3pm. Blue streak, corkscrew, and mine ride had long lines. Was a total bust, but we went to the wood carver, then the petting farm & we watched the turkeys and chickens walk around. -

I don't see cedar point ever expanding their actual park into the lot area, but it would be cool if they built a small city walk/downtown Disney style area with a few more restaurants, and maybe some things to do at night after the park closes for on-site guests staying at the hotels. They could even build another hotel. Make the whole peninsula even moreso a resort destination. Just dreaming thought. -

To get back on topic.. I'm really looking forward to seeing the main entrance completed. The renderings look wonderful. I'm curious to know how intensive the landscaping will be around the ride and at the front gate. Hopefully some trees will be planted all around. The way GateKeeper comes out over the lot somewhat reminds me of Kraken. -

My vote is for an Alpengeist-ish Invert or a wing rider! It would be cool if it's an invert that could utilize the terrain. As far as wing riders, I definitely enjoyed X-Flight but I am really looking forward to GateKeeper. X-Flight seemed too short & compact. (typical Six Flags, I know.. & i haven't ridden Wild Eagle) They're great rides though. A larger scale version would be wonderful in Vortex's place. But I wouldn't mind an Maverick-style Intamin either. As rough as it is, it will be sad to see Vortex go. That was one of my first looping coasters. It just seemed really crazy when I was young. -

The wing riders are a wonderful invention. I rode X-Flight at SFGam, and it was a great ride. Not nearly as intense as other B&M's, but they're fun for what they are. GateKeeper will be great addition to Cedar Point. Sidenote, my Mother just asked if this ride will be replacing the aquarium. Remember when Cedar Point had an aquarium? -

Raptor without trims. -
Six Flags has always been.. Six Flags. They are a junky theme park chain that (IMO) have always had bad customer service, cookie-cutter duplicate rides, and poor management. They are no Disney, Universal, Busch/SeaWorld, or Cedar Fair and they have never come close. I feel bad that this guy had a bad experience, but its just hard to expect a lot from them. And comparing them to Disney is just a joke. Disney sets the industry standard. You pay more for premium. Its like shopping at Walmart and expecting it to be Saks.

I never did get a chance to ride it. It was always closed when I went. (I'm from Detroit, so KI is a bit far) Doesn't sound like I'm missing much. -

@GayCoasterGuy, are you in this photo??? Omg. Which one are you? I still love the Blue Streak. I really should go to CP this week. I would like to ride Disaster Transport one more time. -

I wonder who sent Lance the "GateKeeper" name. Must be just a code name for it. It would make sense being at the gate, but what an awful name if it were true! I think Cedar Point should renovate the area over there, making it a bit more classic, beachy looking. It's already very colorful! Kind of like how they renovated Paradise Pier at DCA, but of course on a smaller scale. It would be cute if there was some sort of boardwalk area around the ride. I hope the green track we've seen isn't for Cedar Point. Too similar to Raptor, unless it was supposed to be some sort of sequel to the Raptor. Who knows. -

^^ thats a bummer. I was hoping for more "park" - not necessarily rides but maybe a few shops, or a restaurant - some trees & places to sit. -

So along with the ride, is the plan to also expand the actual park into the parking lot? Or is the lift just going to extend itself out over the lot and then do its course towards the front gate? I know the plan is to open up the former Disaster Transport area and make it look pretty with the beach, but just curious at how extensive this will be. It'd be nice if they added a few buildings, and made it a bit more landscaped & expanded further, possibly for other future additions in that direction. I assume the Trioka ride will be moved. I'm glad Ouimet is removing some of the junkier rides. Next one on my list is the Matterhorn ride. That one always looks so out of place & carnival-ish. -

I always loved Disaster Transport specifically because it was such a bizarre and unique ride. Theres always something fun about flying around in complete darkness. It is kind of an eyesore though. Ugly building that blocks the nice view of the lakeshore. Space Spiral, you can take. I've never been a fan. Plus with Windseeker, who cares. Although Windseeker gives me terrible anxiety & I hate it. I'm really not one to ever be afraid of rides either. Wingriders are alright. To be honest, I wasn't all that impressed with X-Flight at Great America. I love B&M, but it felt kind of slow and basic. The control tower & added effects were cool, however. I imagine Wild Eagle is much better though. -
Mini Trip Report! Went to Great America for the first time on Monday. Was a ridiculously hot day out, (95 in Chicago!) but we had a ball! It was my second time to a Six Flags park, the first being a trip to Six Flags Worlds of Adventure/Geauga Lake when Six Flags operated it. I must say, Six Flags stepped their game up. The park was much nicer than I was expecting. I'm very used to Cedar Fair parks. (CP, KI, and CW were local to me when I lived in Detroit, I'm new to Chicago) My Favorites: - Raging Bull was awesome. Sort of reminded me of Behemoth, but was almost better with the low-to-the-ground turns. The tunnel at the bottom was great, thats exactly what CW should've done with Leviathan. We rode this around noon, so it was peak sun hours & was almost too hot to ride. I got off feeling a bit dizzy due to heat, but it was worth it. Excellent B&M Hypertwister! - Batman:The Ride was also great. Given its simple (and duplicated everywhere) layout, it was actually quite exciting. One of the trains was running without the wheel covers though. - V2 - I love the impulse coasters. Wicked Twister is still my favorite, but I enjoyed this one. Shame they don't utilize the rear tower brake anymore. - I loved the Whizzer. Really fun throwback ride! Was nice riding in the woodsy area. X-Flight: Excellent ride! B&M has built a winner with this one. It looked much slower than it felt. When you're on it, it flys! The control tower and water jets were really great features. The wait time was about 45 minutes. I'm very intrigued to see what kind of layout Cedar Point has planned. And it made me want to check out Wild Eagle. Oh Dolly, I need a trip to your park... Other Notes: - The Dark Night ride was really bizarre contraption. I enjoyed it, sort of, but the wild mouses are so jerky of course. The added effects were cool though. -The Drop Tower was scary. My friends rode it, but I waited. I refuse to ride the Intamin drop towers ever since the Hellivator had the incident. Also, whats with them keeping two cars stuck at the top for the day? Drop towers in general give me too much anxiety, i hate them. - American Eagle was really rundown. They need to refurbish this ASAP. It looked like it came out of Silent Hill, and riding it was kind of scary because it looked like it was falling apart. They were only running one side of it. Is this normal? - It was strange riding a lot of the coasters without the seat-belt catch for the restraint. These are standard at Cedar Fair parks, so it threw me off a bit. - The flume ride was cute. - The crowds were decent. I'm gay and didn't really have to worry about tolerance there. (Unlike parks in Ohio, ha) Very LGBT friendly crowd, and also saw many other LGBT people. - There was an acapella boy band group singing one-direction covers. Excellent. All in all, I'm glad I got a season pass. Great deal if you buy 4 or more, its only $69.99. Great park. Great times.. I'm excited to go back.

Screamscape has pictures of it being dismantled. I wonder if its really being removed? Seems strange. These types of rides look so interesting without the facade on. It looks sort of rickety. -

The Wildcat always looked so junky and out of place. When it was painted white, it looked run down. Then when it was neon, it just was awful to look at. The queue moved far too slow. It just seemed like something that should be at a trashy state fair somewhere. The carnival roller coaster sitting next to Millennium Force always seemed off. Poor feng shui. I'm thrilled for its removal.
