  1. ^I feel pretty good in a place like Columbus, but it was even better when Geauga Lake was still a thing. 1.5 hrs to KI, 2 hrs to CP, 3 hrs to Kennywood and Kentucky Kingdom, 3.5 hrs to Waldameer, 4 hrs to Holiday World, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few in-between. So many awesome and varying parks within a short drive is much preferred to having a major park in my backyard.
  2. Re: Cold weather causing the valleys: In addition to the increased rolling resistance on the wheels due to the colder temperatures, drag is significantly increased in cold weather and a small temperature drop can significantly increase drag (ask anyone who rides a bicycle in the winter). Colder atmospheric conditions increase air density in the boundary layer and increased density=increased drag. A ballpark estimate is for every 10 degree (F) drop in temperature, there is a roughly 2% increase in the drag coefficient, thus at 50 degrees F there is 6% more drag than at 80 degrees F. Add in the wind and you have a literal perfect storm for trains to valley. Source: see username.
  3. I see further parking lot expansion as unlikely for one reason: walking distance. The elongated orientation of the peninsula already makes for some long walks (convincing GP friends to make one more trek to the back of the park for a final ride on Maverick is like pulling teeth) and exhausted guests don't always equal satisfied guests. Honestly, I feel like CP is at an optimum size/number of coasters as is. What I'd rather see is focusing capital towards current park infrastructure and a refining of the coaster collection (ie. Removing or improving worn, outdated attractions with modern improvements). Quality over quantity.
  4. HopSlam! Had it on tap at the local bar and I'm getting a case or two tomorrow. Be jealous.
