Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread

Really? Have YOU ridden either of them? You must not have, because Magnum and MF are actually quite a bit alike. They both have straight drops, both have a kind of "pretzel-ish" turn around, and both have some airtime hills. And they both broke similar height records. The one big difference with those two rides and the CW rides is that between Magnum and MF, Cedar Point built three VERY DIFFERENT RIDES (Mean Streak, Raptor, and Mantis) to help ease the blow of those rides being similar. I put money on it that we would have been having the EXACT same type of conversation had Cedar Point built Millennium Force in 1994. No, actually I've never been on either... It's only my home park and live 45 minutes away and been a season pass holder for the past 12 years... The only thing Magnum and MF have in common is there meant for speed and airtime.. that is it. -

Really? Millennium Force and Magnum are nothing alike... Have you ever ridden either? I mean, Cedar Point has built 4 Intamin Rollercoasters in a row... there's nothing wrong with that part. But I really do hope that this coaster is not just a bigger Behemoth. I don't even know if making it more of a twister is really going to change my thoughts. This really has to be something different from BM to get away from Behemoth. If it is 350 feet... I don't really care what the layout is, I'm sure it will be badass, but I do hope for something unique. -

Wow, if this truely is a 300+ft BM... truely shocked. I've just read the past 20 pages. And I saw the post about 350ft at 98mph... I'm curious if maybe the coaster will actually hit 100 and be the first non-launched coaster to break 100mph? If that were the case, give me some lap bars (please no OTSR) and I'm all in. I really would not like to see an "tallest inversion".. just a straight foward airtime filled giga please. -

It's very odd to see a BM Invert without the little dip (predrop) before the main drop... Now It just looks odd to me. -

Obviously alot of you have not riden TTD or KK. After launching 120-128mph in just acouple seconds, the 420-456ft tower really doesn't seem much. The launch is so intense that it makes the hill feel gentle. Not to mention a 150mph launch. I'm sure this coaster still packs a punch going through all the turns. you guys act like they launch you 150mph and trim you to 70mph. Even if it were, the last time I looked, 70mph is hella fast for a rollercoaster. Magnum is still one of my favorite coasters and it "only" does 72mph. I'd love to get a chance to ride this coaster. I mean, look at I305. When it was going full speed, what 94mph? It flew through the turns. I'm sure this coaster is still going atleast 100mph after the first hill. Quit being so picky, this coaster looks amazing and I'm sure that launch is incredible. Just my thoughts... -
Thanks guys. Yes, like I stated the station is under construction. It is not complete. As for the turn around. I kinda based it off of Thunderhawk @ Dorney. I've never been there so all I could use for reference is rcdb and bing's birds eye view. More updates coming soon. Edit: I've come across acouple coasters by PTC with turning drops. Mr. Twister and Wild Beast. I wouldn't say they are as banked as much as my coaster. I might just take out the upward bank. Or do you think Dinn Corp. would fit better for the coaster? Not that it's a big deal. haha

Some of you may remember me from NE. Acouple years ago I head a timeline park called "Spring Groves". Well I've started another timeline park, I have yet to come up with a name for a park. As of now I've been going with Fairfield Amusement Park. But I plan on updating the park often. There is not much yet, but it's a work in progress. Any feedback would be appreciated. Also, I'd love to hear some ideas of what you'd like to see in the park. Thanks guys! 1970 -11/15- New Amusement Park approved for Fairfield, Pennsylvania to open in 1975. Construction has begun on first rollercoaster "Thunderbird" (Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters, Inc.)[Pg. 1] -11/17- Thunderbird's Station is almost completed. [Pg.1] -11/23- Main Entrance Update. Hersheypark 2011 [RCT3]
Nitrous Oxide replied to Ccron10's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Storm Runner does not have a cobra-roll... you mean the flying snake dive? Also, If you haven't.. I'd fix up Great Bear's drop. You seem to have way way too much straight track before the helix on the first drop. And isn't GB black?(http://www.rcdb.com/468.htm?p=4846) And I I would say with RCT's limitations I would make the supports gray/silver. I know they're a weird color. Seems like a very hard park to build in RCT with all the limitations. It's coming along nicely though other than the few things I've mentioned. Can't wait to see how it looks when it is done. Good luck! -
B&M Dive Machines also weren't very popular around this time. I think they started getting more popular with Skeikra and Griffon in the US. Aren't those the only 2 in the US? My bets would go towards an Intamin Impulse coaster. (Superman Ultimate Escape opened in 2000.) It's also getting to the time where Stand-Ups were slowly fading and Floorless models were getting big. But seeing as there is already a Floorless in the park... I wouldn't expect another Hmmm... maybe a 4D coaster for 02' and a Flat for 01'?That'd really turn this park from Amusement to Amazement Park! We will just have to wait and see.

RCT4?
Nitrous Oxide replied to coasterdude5's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I'm sure most of you have noticed the data files in RCT2 had names like INTGIG (Intamin Giga) and BMStand (B&M Stand-Up). But yea, that would be cool to have company names, doubtful though. I like the idea of using Locomotions multiplayer in RCT4. That would be alot of fun for online and networking. Hopefully we will here something soon about RCT4. Atleast let us know they game has been started. Any news would be good. -
